Animated Shorts Visions: The Twins - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

My least favorite one so far. The animation was beautiful and the sounds had that old school anime quality to them, but the story was just too dumb. Couldn't get over some of the silliness in this one.

 

Twins had Neil Patrick Harris vs. Allison Brie and they cut a Star Destroyer in half so it gets a pass for that.

 

This was zany over-the-top fun but the relationship between the twins was interesting; wouldn't mind seeing what happens to them next.

This is the first one of the batch that I just didn't really care much for. It didn't really connect with me.

 

5 for the Episode; 11 for Lady Am.



Seriously though, it was over-the-top to the point of being nonsensical, but the fact that it kind of leans into that mitigates things a bit. Weird that this was the one short that the makers actually tried to connect to canon despite arguably being the most ridiculous.

 

Not my favorite.

 

A rating on scale from 1-10 is completely meaningless for an episode like this. All there really is to say from a quality standpoint is they achieved exactly what they were going for. At first it was genuinely interesting to me, then it got a little ridiculous and I found it off-putting, then it got extremely ridiculous and I chuckled and realized I had watched enough anime that I really should have seen at least one episode like this coming, then it ended with the droid wearing a space helmet after the humans had spent the whole episode without one and suddenly I was cackling uncontrollably like some kind of madman, so at that point how can I not be glad that this content exists?

It started off well, then lost me completely. The amount of nonsensical elements and the total lack of investment made me feel very bored.

 

Halfway through the episode, I left and went to the rest room. When I got back, it didn't feel like I missed anything.

 

It was decent, but how did the twins not suffocate in space? Also the idea of just Flex-taping two Star Destroyers together was kind of ridiculous, IMO.

 

There was a similar idea from Kenner's old concepts, Atha Prime's double-decker Star Destroyer.
