Chapter 13:

When Han and Leia Solo entered the small conference room, shortly before their meeting was due to start, they found several members of the envoy were already there. They were seated around the outer curve of the crescent-shaped table, which was facing a holo-conferencing screen.

"See, Han, I told you we wouldn't be too early!" murmured Leia to her husband, "Jaina and Jacen are here, and so is Jag. The only one we're waiting for now at this end is Senator Bariolé. Luke and Mara should be on the holo-comm any minute now."

"Yeah, you were right, as usual!" said Han. A smile appeared on his face as Jaina noticed their entrance.

"Hey Mom, Dad!" said Jaina cheerfully as she came over to greet her parents.

"Hello again, Jaina dear," smiled Leia, then headed over to the table to see Jacen and Jag.

"So," began Han as he released Jaina from a tight hug, "I suppose you've been making the most of your time off before we leave on this trip, huh kid?"

"Of course I have, Dad!" replied Jaina, "What did you think I'd be doing? Trying to decide what clothes to pack?"

"Well, no!" Han returned with a laugh, then moved over with Jaina to sit down. As Han took his seat, Jaina turned to address her brother, and the young man seated beside her reached over to shake Han's hand.

"It's good to see you again, General Solo," said Jag Fel, with a nervous smile.

So, this is the man who wants to steal your daughter? began a voice in Han's head. Aloud, he replied, "Uh, yeah, it's good to see you too, Colonel Fel." Good to see you?!? What are you playing at, being all friendly an' all to this guy?!? came that voice again. "So, I guess you're looking forward to seeing the Unknown Regions again, Jagged," continued Han, ignoring the voice and trying to be as cordial as possible. It's just for Jaina's sake! Han reassured the voice. "You must miss your family." Oh, so it's "Jagged" now, is it? persisted the voice.

"Yes, sir," replied Jag, "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't keen to see them again soon."

"I'm sure I'd be feeling just the same in your position," said Han, smiling in spite of himself. "Oh, and since you're coming on this mission with us, and you and Jaina are?y'know? together you can drop the "General" and the "Sir". You may as well just start calling me Han." Well done, Solo! taunted the voice once more. You've just practically invited this guy to take your daughter!

"Thank you, Sir?um, Han," said Jag looking as embarrassed as Han felt.

"Yeah, it's?well," finished Han lamely, "It's nothing, really."

The awkward moment was relieved by Wedge Antilles entering the room, accompanied by an attractive woman in her late twenties, who Han assumed was Senator Riona Bariolé. She was dressed in a simple dress of cream material, cinched around her narrow waist by a band of blue material. She wore her nut-brown hair twisted into a bun at the nape of her neck. Her blue eyes seemed to drink in all that was going on around her, process it, and then store the information for future reference.

"Wedge!" exclaimed Leia, rising from her seat, "We weren't expecting you here."

"Have you decided to join our motley troupe for this little outing?" asked Jacen lightly. Upon hearing the word "motley", Jaina couldn't help but notice that Senator Bariolé looked distinctly affronted.

"Actually, Jacen, I have," replied Wedge, causing everyone in the room to exchange looks of surprise. "I know it's kind of a last-minute arrangement, but I'm sure you'll agree that it's a good plan, once you hear my reasons."

"I'm sure we will," said Han, inviting Wedge and the Senator to sit down.

"May I start by introducing you all to Senator Riona Bariolé, from Thyferra," began Leia, standing up. As she spoke, she moved around the table.
"Senator Bariolé? Firstly, let me introduce you to my husband, former General Han Solo. General Antilles you know already. This is my daughter, Lieutena

 

That was really good! I feel bad for Jaina that female senator is really getting on her nerves. You could be so evil to her!

 

Yay! J_and_J is here! Yes, I could do some very interesting things to little Miss Senator! Muhahahahha!!! I have the power! It is mine!!!!!

Okey dokey, me done!

 

I'm leaving today though. I should be leaving in 4 hours though so I can be on. I think you should be evil to her. She insulted Jaina!

"Ah yes, of course, Jacen Solo, the young hero who managed to escape Yuuzhan Vong captivity," she said warmly, looking him up and down. Jaina looked like she was about to laugh. What is it with Jacen? Women fall all over him without him even trying. I hope he shoots the annoying #%*@ senator down.

This trip with the motley crew will be a lot of fun. And little Ben will be along to keep things interesting.

Jag and Jaina are so cute - wanting to spend every little bit of free time together.

Keep it coming, Drama Queen. Enjoying it immensely.

 

Just got the PM, thanks for that btw!! Anyways...He he he...great post!! Han's having Gollem moments, Jaina's getting jealous. It seems to me that a certain Senator has Jacen in her sights.... This is going to be a very interesting trip....

Han's comversation with himself was funny. Poor guy, his baby girl isn't a baby anymore and there is someone who has caught her eye.

Wedge is coming, yes!

Whoa! Senator, minor command staff. That's not nice. Jaina is the Goddess, watch your mouth. Besides she will be guarding you, be nice or she may forget that part of her duty. That is her right as the Goddess.

Ben's coming. Always wanted to see him and his parents interacted when he was a kid.

I loved it!!

That Senator gives other Senators bad names! She and Leia should nnot be compared...at ALL!! And she better not get her hands on Jacen. To me it seemed as if they were flirting.

This is very nice. I'm looking forward to this envoy with all my favorites & we'll get to see little Ben for a change. (I hate that they ship him off forever without a single mention in profic.) Good idea!

Quick Thoughts:

-Yes, Senator What's her face is a b***h. And yes, she is very interested in Jacen.

-J/J, what can I say, I luv em both lots!!!

-Ben, Wedge and the whole Scooby gang going along on the trip...muhahahha!!! Fun. fun, fun

-Han and his little Smeagol moment...I'm a big LOTR fan, and I luv my Gollum almost as much as I love my Legolas (Orlando Bloom *swoon*). Han's inner monologue was my small tribute!
