The funniest part is... taking the nature of the Joker into consideration, I can see him wearing something like this just for kicks.

He kind of looks like The Joker from Grant Morrison's Batman R.I.P. Very creepy.

Also, I have a feeling Superman will throw the fight in order to make people believe he isn't a God. If a mere human can win against him, he must not be. That will make all the worshippers stop. But he will throw the fight after he gives Batman a severe bruising.

I just watched Batman vs Robin last night and I have to say...

I hated it. I don't like this take on Batman at all in fact. I know for many, many years the theme in comics was "Batman is a dick" but it doesn't need to be translated into animation too. And frankly, I have hated all the DC Movies since the new Justice League based on New 52- I thought the comic made them jerks but after the movie, the comic is tame by comparison. The Son of Batman suffered the same issues as well but wasn't quite as bad as this one to me. That said, I loved Assault on Arkham. So maybe it's just the new 52 take on the character that bugs me? The one highlight for that film was Ducky from NCIS as Alfred.

But I also feel in general this is the problem with the films. The Dark Knight did gritty and realistic brilliantly. But then WB and DC decide to take this concept and apply it to every character ever. And the results are depressing. Superman is the opposite of Batman: the light in the darkness. And yet the latest trailer just makes Superman out to look like a villain and Batman out to be another villain. Neither appear very heroic to me. I mentioned in the past discussions of Man of Steel how the movie had nothing like the plane sequence from Superman Returns- which shows the real heroic side of the character. Man of Steel is of course an origin so he'll make mistakes, but what is terrible is how costly those mistakes are. So while I am glad they are being addressed in this film, it just feels like even more grimdark. Where then is the light in these characters? What makes them heroes and not just jerks who run around beating people up?

He does ok cover art, but I agree. He's highly overrated. Not to mention his Batman is just a less imaginative version of Miller's style.

There's no easy way to say this, but nope:

That's two Hush images by Jim Lee.

This is Batman Year One Batman by Miller:

Miller's first Batman is much leaner and owes some visual cues to the original costume from the Finger/Kane era. TDKR Batman is a huge, muscled characer with a rounded bat on his chest and you can see int he above the inspiration for the BvS costume.

Lee's Batman is typical Lee style; I still have his X-Men #1 somewhere that has the same physique drawn. You're right that it's like Miller's in that they're both drawing a Batman with a cowl and cape, but that's about it.

Uh, Miller did not draw "Year One". David Mazzucchelli drew it.

"The Dark Knight" came out first, then "Year One".

This is Miller from 1982, before TDKR.

Shhh. Don't blow up his spot. Let him pretend he knows what he's talking about.

That DKR pic Ender posted actually backs up my point.

Oh that's right, I forgot about Year One. [face_blush]

Good example of what I mean by Lee's typically drawn physique:

Lee in both his Batman and X-Men work was just drawing straight forward stories. Miller's work in TDKR was different in that he was painting Bruce and Clark as gods among men, while his other characters had other looks based on what he and Klaus Janson had come up with. As to Mazzucchelli, his work on "Year One" was not too different from what he would do on "Daredevil: Born Again".

It is more his style, than aping someone else.

Lee's Batman for me is defined by Hush. I know he did the All Star Run, and the N52 Justice League (such an awful arc) but Hush was this huge event in which Mr Image was collaborating with the writer of, among other things, Long Halloween (which might be one of my favourite Batman stories ever). The whole arc, I remember, was a Big Deal at the time and still holds up well.

But I mean, shots of Batman swinging through the air, or holding a handful of cape etc - they're designed to be iconic, not practical, and in that sense it's vintage Lee. Each panel could be it's own standalone image.

I'm actually not hating on the guy. I have the absolute Hush edition signed by him. He is talented. It's just in my old age I'm becoming more interested in other artists. Cooke for instance.

He's a great promo guy, but yeah, he can't carry a story as well as other artists.

That's actually rather beautiful. I wouldn't mind seeing the movie redone that way by fans.

EDIT: This also adequately demonstrates that people freaking out about how Wonder Woman's costume "had no colour" had no idea what they were talking about.

One can only hope Snyder and Co. take the hint and alter the color filters accordingly prior to 2016. But yeah, MoS without that grainy tint would be a delight to see...then trash accordingly since that won't fix all of that films problems, amirite?

Yeah, I was gonna ask about the tattoos -- are those a recent comics thing? I didn't imagine the Joker with 'em.
