That might have been the case of too many cooks in the kitchen.

I read Secret Origins and it wasn't so bad as it formed the Master/Padawan relationship between Hal and Thaal, and would have made Hector the big baddie. However, IIRC it took away OA and Kilawog as the stage of Hal's training.

I agree that Parallax/Hector Hammond was set up to rush in the Sinestro Corp War. I would have preferred the first GL movie just be about Hal training on OA in the second act and then fighting something like the Manhunters in the third act so we see all the Green Lanterns in combat and strengthening the Band of Brothers elements between the characters. The second GL film would have been the fall of Sinestro and him ending up in Qward. The third GL film would be the Sinestro Corps War.

I took another look on Wikipedia and Hammond was already a villain in the Berlanti, Guggenhiem and Green draft before "Secret Origin" came out. They used elements from SO to deal with issues that they were having with the story, like Abin Sur using a ship which Johns worked on. Most of Legion's role was the same as Parallax, it was just twisted around a bit. It was more than the writers were trying to cram so much history into a two hour film, whereas the comics spread it out. This is different from Superman, Batman, Flash, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Captain America which can be condensed into one film quite easily.

Well the entire Hal/Sinestro dynamic (Sinestro doesn't like Hal because he's replacing Abin Sur, then gradually comes to respect him, then eventually they become friends, which makes Sinestro's eventual fall all the more tragic) should have been played out over an entire movie, if not more so. But they BARELY spent ANY time together and then the post-credit scene was ridiculously rushed/out of nowhere, which made it even worse.

I would have used the Manhunters as the villains in the first film personally.

What do you think Will Smith's contribution to the Suicide Squad soundtrack will be? I'm hoping it's a revamped version of Boom Shake the Room.

Hopefully, none. The movie is ridiculous enough as it is.

I don't think he's going to contribute. He didn't on "Men In Black III".

Nor in several other films he's starred in. Perhaps he's put that part of his career behind him now.

Do you want me to hurt you, son?

I think the last one Smith did was MIB2. He had mostly put it behind him when he was convinced to do the song for the first film. Hence that brief comeback between 1997-2002.

I can actually mentally hear that in his voice and now it's going to be stuck there all night.

This tweet from the director, David Ayer, gives me the impression that the Batman stuff will be at the beginning of Suicide Squad.

I like it - I had honestly forgotten he was getting his own standalone film. Does Wonder Woman have a director yet?

Warner Bros. Film Chief on 'Wonder Woman,' J.K. Rowling's 'Fantastic Beasts' Script and How DC Will Compete With Marvel

The last part of the interview above raises some concern with multiple writers where there maybe some or none collaboration going on. Sounds like a "Frankenstein" approach to the Wonder Woman script.

Finally, the Aquaman movie I've long dreamed of. Soon I will be able to die with no regrets.
