Irons is a much better choice for Alfred than Michael Caine was. Something about Alfred WIF A SARF LARNDUN ACCENT was off.

I would love it if he had hair for most of the movie and then at some pivotal moment in his character development, he flips out and shaves his head ala Travis Bickle or something.

The difference between Heath Ledger being cast as the Joker and Jesse Eisenberg being cast as Lex Luthor is that Ledger was in a decent film helmed by a capable director. [face_beatup]

Actually, could we just get an entire film of Lex Luthor's obsession with Superman turning him into a paranoid ticking time bomb that eventually goes off? It'd probably be better than what they're planning.

The thing about young people being at the helm of things like Google and Facebook is... you're not making anything. It's basically just an idea, with some really good code. That's why the barrier of entry to those markets is so absurdly low compared with any line of business where you need to, y'know, pay people to make things.

If Lex is early-30s, what they're saying is that if he's got something like that then he's more like Tony Stark than anything else, something which the "more realistic" universe DC has constructed has been staying away from. It's LexCorp, not LuthorCorp, so it's not like Bruce Wayne being super-smart and adapting or utilizing Wayne Enterprises technology and resources... means Lex has to have done something...

PS - @Ender_Sai I think my bird's settled on Williams' Superman Theme as her favorite music (possibly tied with the main theme from Back to the Future).

If The Dark Knight Rises had just been Crying Alfred, Batman, and Bane, absolutely no one would have understood it.

Michael Caine was fine as Alfred, but I would enjoy going more than five minutes with him on screen without "YOU'RE ONLY SUPPOSED TO BLOW THE BLOODY DOORS OFF!" running through my head.

Brilliant casting. Can't wait to see what these two guys bring to the table.

You guys are really being close-minded. You musn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.

The most depressing news is Geoff Johns name on the exec producer list. Green LanTURD anyone?

I guess the unassuming businessman rebuilding Metropolis angle could work, though can Eisenberg actually pull off the villianous side of Lex when the time comes?

I like the Smallville episodes Johns did.

Except Alfred has always been slightly posh, and there's nothing remotely posh about Caine's accent. It's pure Sarf Larndon, which is more working class. Jeremy "Dungeons & Dragons" (dp4m) Irons is sufficiently posh sounding.

He was scene-chewing eeeeeeeeeeeevil in D&D though. Not even a quick spotting of a beholder could save it... not even Doctor Who and Riff-Raff in the same film!

I am aware, I'm in agreement with you.

Also, it makes way more sense for a younger man to call himself Lex than a man in his fifties.

At first I was like whaaaaaaat. But this could work. I like it. A young genius Lex going up against an old Bruce Wayne in the boardroom (presumably). And Irons is perfect. Wonder if he will finally have a pencil stash.

But the most important question is, will he try to steal 40 cakes in this movie?

Found this in the MoS Bluray.

The government was able to translate info from Kara's scout ship.

    Bertron, and ....

Well... That was one of my questions re: are they going down the Doomsday route
by having Eisenberg play a clone of Lex who pretends to be his own son when Doomsday arrives?

I doubt Doomsday will be the villain. Maybe in Man of Steel 3.

Yeah I think he would work the best as the final villain of the trilogy, like Bane.

I'm also interested in Bertron, maybe they would link him with Krypton's genesis chamber?

I wouldn't pay too much heed to those easter eggs. Most of the time they are there just for fans and are never referenced or brought up again. And if they are used they have no relation to the previous easter eggs and outright contradict them most of the time.

I'd see Doomsday and a Death of Superman movie as a third or fourth movie. If they get that far.

I don't think it's just some easter eggs, it looks like DC is trying to foreshadowing the future threat.
