After being at Celebration and seeing supposedly movie-quality props, I just can't work up antipathy for something that may look a little fake outside of movie sets with movie lighting, etc.
Plus, some of the props -- the ones for stage-fighting -- almost certainly can't be "real" for a variety of reasons.

Absolutely, for the actual fights, you'd expect plastic or rubber. I just assumed for close ups they have something a bit more realistic. But as you say, lighting.

So you think the language is made up? Or real? Should have a go translating it?

... You know that's Greek, right? Like it might be gibberish for all I know but that's indisputably the Greek alphabet, which would make sense for a character based on Greek myth.

I can say the Greek alphabet three times before a match burns my finger... for, uh, no reason...

I've heard the sword complaint since the first image. I still don't get it. It looks like a sword. What's different between it and every other sword in movies and tv? I don't see any 'plasticness' to it.

Is it me or does "Superman" there look more like Data in a Superman costume? I know, lighting, but still...

Love the WW costume and her ornate armament. Ah, the movie may turn or to be a disaster, but looking at the Trinity side by side...damn, I want to believe.

I had a look today. I think it is part greek with some other characters. I don't think there will be any translation of it.
    pseudo greek is the conclusion.

They probably did exactly the same as they did for the Kryptonians in Man of Steel and invented an entire culture and working fictitious language for the denizens of Themiscyra and based its core alphabet on Greek.

Yeah, it might be lighting that makes it look plastic. I remember when I first saw the first image of Thor. His costume looked very pleathery and his hammer plastic. I'm sure Snyder will give Wonder Woman the 300 treatment and everything will look badass. And I bet that Wonder Woman's weapons can make Superman bleed. Snyder has already said that Aquaman's trident can cut Superman.

They should, given his little weakness to magical stuff. Perhaps that's part of Bats' plan to make him bleed? Replacing Ollie's kryptonite-tipped arrow with Diana's mystically(?) forged blade?

Ton of detail and close-up shots of the Batmobile floating around now, too. Looks pretty great, but can't link at the moment.

Usually prop swords are made with a form of metal that's more aluminum than anything. It looks real enough, but can only take so many poundings before it bends or breaks. Far faster than real blades. When "Highlander: The Series" was made, that was what the prop blades were made out of by the middle of season one or so. I think that's what is used in most cinematic sword fight scenes. Some blades are more durable than others which differs from sword type to sword type. Broadswords are generally stronger, while rapiers are a pain in the neck. The downside of using these blades is that you still can cut yourself during a fight. Or at least, bruise the hell out of your dominate hand easily.

Kryptonese alphabet actually exists. DC had it made up a long time ago, so what was in MOS is an extension of that. You can see the alphabet in "Smallville" quite a bit.

Yes. And, also, yes. I was referring specifically to the elaborations crafted for the film universe.

I happen to like the MoS Kryptonian alphabet. The curved aesthetic of the glyphs is more pleasant to the eye then the very angular, geometric alphabet that DC made up for the comics and Smallville. In fact, the whole world of Krypton was nicely done. Definitely one of the better parts of the movie.

The character that Common is speculated to be playing reminds me of a villain from the Elektra movie.

I liked Forever. Did it have flaws, oh heaven's yes. But I actually prefer it to the Burton films. At least Forever tried to, you know, be about Batman and explore his psychology somewhat. Plus he wasn't a sociopathic mass-murder, so that helps to.
