    Yes, he sure was.

But like SSP, I really didn't care for Shannon as Zod and Crowe would likely have been epic in that part as well. Too many roles and not enough Russell Crowe to go around.

News on the much maligned Flash movie front; the duo who directed Game Night and had picked up the Flash gig have apparently added to the list of those shown the door. But the script that Ezra Miller had been working on with Grant Morrison in an effort to take the character's solo movie in a less comedic direction has also been pitched into the dust bin and yet another writer (and director) has been hired on:

I felt Snyder's Watchmen did a wonderful job in kind of duplicating the source material visually, but I think he really didn't capture the essence and emotional beats of the characters and story. I mean, the central theme of "Who Watches the Watchmen" wasn't really conveyed properly, nor the ticking of the doomsday clock and capturing the fears of nuclear war during the 1980s.

I feel the role of Jor El wasn't too challenging, nor needed Crowe. However, I feel the character of Zod needs the gravitas of an actor like Crowe. I felt Faora was a better villain than Zod in so many ways. The battle in Smallville was my favorite part of the film, and for me, it de-evolves afterwards. For one, unlike Faora, Zod really didn't demonstrate any martial arts techniques or a fighting superiority over Kal El; just the line that he was bred to be the ultimate fighter and Kal El probably learned to fight on a farm. Which is high likely, as this version of Pa Kent wouldn't want Clark to fight at all, nor Clark himself. There was that flashback scene where kid Clark was being bullied and resisted in fighting back. At the end of the scene, it was clear that Clark should never get into a fight, much less throw a punch. I think a Crowe performed Zod, like Faora, wouldn't have needed a line about him being a superior fighter, but just show it like in Gladiator.

Yeah, Andy Muschietti to direct The Flash until he's not in a few months. :p
Seriously though, I'm surprise that WB/DC hasn't dropped this project like Cyborg and Justice League 2. From what I'm gathering is that WB loves Ezra Miller and wants to stay in business with him.

BTW, I love that gif and I was so happy when the Supergirl TV show paid homage to that. And another BTW, I love Superman III; Richard Pryor, pseudo Brainiac and all.

Are you talking about Grace Randolph's "insider" info that the Flashpoint storyline was being ported over to WW84?

Michael Shannon's performance as Zod is what it would look like to have an aneurysm for a solid two-and-a-half hours.

That is absolutely the best summation I’ve read.

His performance in the film is multiple levels below his performance in this reading of an email, which I’d forgotten about.

Man, DCEU is frankenstein's monster and here I thought the X-men continuity was a mess. They should have let WW and Aquaman finish and put a hold on everything else other than odd elseworlds stuff like the Joker and than rebooted the whole thing. As a DC fan who hated Snyderverse/dceu, I don't care for anything tied to it. I think they might have short time success here and there and some good movies here and there just like the Fox-men but in the long term, is not going to work and anyone who hasn't checked out of snyderverse/dceu already like me, will at some point. Respecting who these characters are and why they are popular is important. Something like doing BoP but getting rid of the founder Barbara Gordon (who had to form this group with her pal BC because of what Harley's BF the joker did to her) and making it the Harley Quinn show and vehicle for Margot Robbie instead of doing something like GCS is why Fox/WB fail and why Marvel succeeds. Whatever WB/DC, you do you.

I think this is the only reason Miller is still attached to the role. I think if he had never been cast in Fantastic Beasts he'd be in the same boat as Henry Cavill right now; perhaps not officially stated as out but with the studio clearly in no hurry for him to reprise the role and entertaining other possibilities. But WB is still trying to operate like an old school movie studio, with house directors and actors.

My reaction to the Flash news is the same as it's been the past few times: "I think that director is a good choice and I like Miller so hopefully it's a good movie." With any luck, it'll actually get made this time.

And I don't much care about the overarching continuity, to be honest. DC has always been more of a mythology with parts that change shape depending on how they're used, in the respect that on one hand I have to accept that Batman struggles against people like Penguin and the Riddler in his stories, while also being hyper-competent enough to earn a place on the Justice League in those stories. I'm fine with the movies replicating that overall lack of universe-wide coherence as long as it results in more interesting movies, even if that means some of them are busts.

Contenders for Catwoman in Reeves' Batman movie are starting to circulate much like they did for the title role not too long ago. Vanessa Kirby (The Crown and Mission Impossible:Fallout) and Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049 and the upcoming Knives Out) are the names making the rounds.

Not knowing what Reeves is going for with the character makes it difficult to venture which would be better, if indeed either end up being cast. Kirby seems like the better fit for delivering on the love/hate relationship that has often existed between the character and Batman but de Armas is intriguing as going slightly off type from what she usually plays.

I’ve liked Eiza Gonzalez for Catwoman since I saw her in Baby Driver, but I think Ana de Armas would be a good fit, too.

Pfeiffer was fine, not particularly outstanding, but fine. I'd just prefer a Catwoman more like the one in the comics and I think she's been a brunette almost all of the time in the comics. Back some years ago (quite a few now), I would have picked Rachel Weisz as kind of the perfect match for the role. It's just a preference thing.

Everyone today knows not to put your junk shots on the cloud, but I guess in the 80's the dangers of putting them in a diamond may not have been well established yet. Like the cloud, those things are forever.

But are we talkin' an uncut diamond here?

Look, Grace Randolph has been slowly descending into "burtation" levels of pop-culture stroke babble for a long time now. It's time to stop mocking her and start getting her help.

But she's gonna do a video. Forevermore when someone throws out the initials DDP there will that momentary pause over whether it's a reference to the wrestler or diamond D pics. We need this sort of cultural confusion.

First of all, I hope her scoop is true. I need it to be true if nothing else than to see twitter's reaction to the movie. It could be postive because of the gay fitishism and obsession or negative because of negative portrayal and mocking accusation. Either way, I'm sure it'll be more entertaining than the movie. Please be true.

Also, Grace doesn't bother me. I don't get the reaction she gets from some fanboys. She isn't anymore worse than the hive that populate youtube and twitter and scoopers who tend to get things more wrong than right but act like arrogant ****heads.
She annoys sometimes, or confuses me w/her opinions and sometimes I agree with her. She tends to be sensationalist but that is the bread and butter of so called journalism these days.
