Anyone remember this hyperactive kid going on a rampage with his toy wampa? "Wampa! Wampa!" Imagine the shock of being a rebel trooper on patrol when this rampaging monster comes maurading through your encampment screaming "Wampa! Wampa!" and knocking everything over.

How stupid did Kenner think we were? Didn't the kid watch Empire Strikes Back? If these creatures ran around screaming "Wampa! Wampa!" at the top of their lungs, then Luke would never have gotten caught off guard. They can sneak around pretty silently, and then growl and "rooooaaarr" when they need to.

But, "Wampa! Wampa!" !?! Come on?

At least the Dewback commercials highlighted the action-packed poins of articulation on the toy. His head moved side to side, opposite his tail, while he was on patrol.

I think it has to do with differences in kids' behavior between the 70's and 80's. You didn't see the kids in the 70's running around going "Dewback! Dewback!" smashing all of his Star Wars toys with his big green lizard.

Anyone else have a favorite SW toy cartoon?

Or does the Wampa one pretty much have them all beat?

    Missed the other one.[/color]

These commercials were awesome. Pretty much all of them had the same "catchy" music playing, and the same voice-over guy.

I loved those commercials, they made everything look so big and cool, and like Jeff said, they had killer music playing in the background.

I'm not to crazy about toy commercials these days, but maybe that's just becouse i'm not a kid anymore.

There were times when I watched Saturady morning cartoons just for those commercials.
