Don't know if he ever used a saber, but given how he is with that pike - I don't think he'd find it hard.

    Unlikely.

Then he'd be a full Dark Jedi.

If he were Force-sensitive, that is. The RPG indicates he is, but IIRC Randy said he was not meant to be.

Uhhh Randy also said he was a clone of Canor Jax.

In the end, the RPG stats describe him as such and that's canon.

he was also meant to be a clone like Jax, but we've since been given a family history of Jax. Kanos is still possible as a clone, as he was "meant" to be. But that doesnt rule out force use, His skills are clearly top knotch, but some things are just too much to not have that force ability.

His stats didnt suggest any saber prowess, but no reason he couldnt figure it out.

    Not...really.

RPG stats aren't really canon. Stories are canon. However given Kanos' ludicrous prowess, I don't find it at all unbelievable that he's Force-Sensitive.

Otherwise how do you reconcile WEG stats with D20 Stats with Saga Edition Stats, which all differ from each other?

(I note Kanos hasn't been statted in the new system, either)

RPG stats are canon if they reflect story elements. Vergere spoke Sith even before she was confirmed as a Sith Lord.

Mox Sloshin isn't force sensitive despite being an Inquisitor.

    Etc. Etc.

Ah, my mistake. I remembered Randy saying something about Kir, but wasn't quite sure if it was the Force sensitivity thing or not.

If the audio drama's anything to go by, a 'saber's all he uses.

I think his only saber training was "See this saber? I hope so, because I just planted it in your face" by Vader. I'm guessing that there is no way that Palpatine was going to allow his specially trained guard (Especially if they had some degree of force sensitivity) to be trained in lightsaber combat. In theory they were all totally loyal to him. In practice, Carnor Jax betrayed him. Even 8 of them with Sabers would be unlikely to be able to ambush Palps, but why really take the chance?

Where, aside from what Lumiya said, has it been confirmed that she was a Sith?

On topic, I hate it when they take regular characters and make them Force-sensitive. I prefer guys like Wedge and Han and Lando who are good because of skill, not because of midichlorians. It all started with Corran Horn - making a great pilot into a Jedi for no reason other to to say Jedi are teh kool!

In this case, it was to avoid plot based stupidity.

Corran Horn was always intended to be a Jedi. Same with Kyle Katarn and Keyan.

However, all three of them could be cool without it.

Kir Kanos being non-force sensitive just makes it idiotic he can block blaster bolts.

It was confirmed through her rpg stats, and this was long, long ago :) The sith/dark bird hints were all over the place ever since Traitor.

Kyle actually wasn't. When they were making Jedi Knight, they decided to use the Katarn character from Dark Forces, but there was no idea that would happen when they were making Dark Forces itself.

Actually.. I believe they did. I recall reading some interviews with the Dark Forces devs that suggested that they were planning Jedi Knight even before DF was finished. And its foreshadowed by Vader saying something to the effect of "The Force is strong with this one..." about Kyle.

Edit: Here it is. Its a scan from a PC Gamer magazine that was published while Dark Forces was still in development.

Although the finishing touches aren't even in place for Dark Forces, Justin Chin's already thinking of a sequel.

"I've done a lot of planning," the writer says, "and I want the sequel to tie in heavily with Dark Forces. I have the ideas and characters mapped out, and Kyle Katarn will once again be the main character. But he's going to go through a character change. There's a big trial in the second game that is essentially his rite of passage---and that's a big hint about the game. We'll be getting into some of the finer points of the Star Wars universe in the next one, too."

    Thus, Jedi Knight.

Trivia: The Moldy Crow was once a Baudo-class yacht, like the Pulsar Skate.

I've always taken any thoughts on Kir's force ability to be the result of the modest force sensitivity that almost all creatures possess...Kir has just been so rigorously trained and attuned that he can actually use this modest connection that most normal people could not. He certainly doesn't have much in the way of "powers"...but Kir doesn't really need them either...I would equate his force sensitivity to perhaps a slightly better reflex and a touch over normal empathetic ability.

It is a distinction that pays credence to the awesomeness of Kir, while at the same time allows for it to be possible for just about anyone to contact the force if they apply themselves severely enough...a theory that bores itself out as characters who aren't written as force sensitive suddenly get it.

Ah. I hadn't heard that JK was already in development before DF was finished. Very interesting.
