I've finaly been able to gather all my Weird Al albums, get them into MP3's and properly tag them acording to album, date, track listings, song title, and footnotes. Took me the grand total of about 2 weeks to get everything perffect, but I did it! I now have ever single Weird Al song he's ever done, including the song he did while making a special guest apperance on an episode of The Simpsons, as well as his japanese sung version of Jurrasic Park! Now, I have to try to learn every song's lyrics, every track title and listing, and ever album's information so I can beat my cousin in a test of Weird Al knowledge! hehehe

hehehe I've been a fan of old Al since I was knee high to a tree stump back in 86' baby! YEAH!

Too bad sharing MP3 files over the net is against the law though. sahme that his music can't be shared with those who cannot afford it. *shrugs*

Weird Al rocked last night! He did at least part of all of my favorite songs. His show is just amazing and Al TV is hilarious! All of his interviews had me laughing, especially with Eminem.

The Eminem interview is great. Did everyone start cheering when he started talking about Eminem not letting him make a video? [face_mischief]

That leads me to todays SOTD....

    Couch Potato
    ------------
Parody of "Lose Yourself" by Eminem
    New Lyrics by Al Yankovic

    Look
    If you had
    One shot
To sit on your lazy butt
And watch all the TV you ever wanted
Until your brain turned to mush
    Would you go for it
    Or just let it slip?

    Yo
    Remote is ready
    Eyes wide, palms are sweaty
There's Flintstone's on the TV already
    Wilma N' Betty
    No virgin to channel surfin
    And I'm HD ready
So I flip, garbage is all I'm getting
    There's Simon Cowell
    Who folks wanna disembowel
He opens his mouth, always says something foul
    They're dying, Wow!
    Wannabe's are crying now
    He votes them out
Time to throw in the towel

    Show's based on reality
    Oh the humanity!
    Oh! Ozzy's family!
    Sho' loves profanity!
    Whoa! The insanity!
Oh! Dogs that crap and pee
    Home of depravity?
    No! They live happily

Yo! Plus "The Ali G Show"
    And "Celebrity Mole"
    Oh there's Anna Nicole
    She's scaring me
    "Look ma, no cavities!"
    Oh! It's a station break
Better go out to the kitchen and microwave something

"You're gonna lose your mind watchin TV"
They told me, they'd scold me
But I still tune in every show (show)
My cable gets C-SPAN, TV Land and HBO
The Travel Channel, Discovery, and Lifetime (yo)

"You're gonna lose your mind watchin' TV"
    They told me, cajoled me
"Turn off those music videos!" (no!)
I'm gonna watch C-SPAN TV Land and HBO
The History Channel and QVC and Lifetime (yo)
    "You're Gonna..."

    My butt is aching
    As I watch NASCAR racing
    That show about undertaking
Larry King to "24" to "Law and Order"
The Weather Channel's boring like 60 Minutes
Ancient reporters next up on "E True Hollywood Story"
The rise and decline of twelve actors named Corey

Shows for next fall, they've already been naming
"CSI: Boise", and "Touched By An Uncle", both sound prettying lame, man
    so does "Everybody Tolerates Raymond"
and "King of Queens" jumped the shark the first minute
I can't believe Richard Simmons ain't in it.

I'll move right on to "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenaged Daughter"
Then I bet I'll watch "The Bachelorette"
    Followed by "Welcome Back, Kotter"
And "The Muppet Show" where they go "Mahna Mahna"

"You're gonna lose your mind watching TV"
They told me, they'd scold me
But I still tune in every show (show)
My cable gets C-SPAN, TV Land and HBO
The Disney Channel, and A&E and Lifetime

"You're gonna lose your mind watching TV"
    They told me, cajoled me
But I still love Lisa Kudrow (drow)
I'm lookin' at C-SPAN, TV Land and HBO
The Playboy Channel and Court TV and Lifetime (yo)

Never missed "Melrose Place" or "Lost in Space"
I've seen each "Amazing Race" and "Without a Trace"
But I only watched "Will and Grace" one time one day
Wished I hadn't cause TiVo now thinks I'm gay

Oh, and "Fear Factor" I watched maybe a half hour
After that felt like I needed a long shower
    Network execs with naked ambition
"Next week on FOX - watch lions eat Christians!"

Like to tie up those programming planners
Make'em watch all of that junk 'til their heads explode just like "Scanners"
    Leech-covered grub-eating fools on "Survivor"
Look, there's James Lipton discussing the oeuvre of Mr. Rob Schneider

And there's Gilligan and SpongeBob, plus there's MacGyver
And Jay Leno has got Madonna and hey, there's Luke Perry
And a special all pig-latin episode of "Drew Carey"

Wanna turn on ET cause I'm a gossip freak
And I gotta know who J. Lo is marryin' this week
A 30 second spot, then we come back to "Are You Hot?"
I was planning on recording "The Sopranos". I forgot!
I love shows with or without a plot
I stare 'til my legs are numb, my eyes bloodshot
    Because I only have got
    one brain to rot
I'm gonna spend my life watching television a lot

"You're gonna lose your mind watching TV"
They told me, they'd scold me
But I still tune into every show (show)
    My cable's gets C-SPAN, TV-Land

    Great find J-A-S!

Very cool! Now I have photos of my first and fifth Al concerts. Back in '84, they were not as strict about letting you take pictures at concerts. Atleast not where I saw Al.

Indeed, everyone did start to cheer about the unmade video for 'Couch Potato'.

Ritoru_Bushi, welcome to the Al thread!

    Great to see another fan!

And you too Tobey-Wan. Please forgive me if you have been here before, because I've been away for awhile. :(

I was so excited about the concert, I watched my DVD the other day! :D

I forgot how much fun it was to talk about Al!

We should really start back up the 'You know you're an Al fan when...' list.

I would, but I forgot what number we were on. :p

    Well, until next time...

    Ham On!

Not long enough, for sure. :(

No one has been able to get ahold of Al for a statement (No suprise), but his family and friends say he's taking it pretty hard. :(

Also, you could post your condolences at The World of Weird Al Yankovic. It's the closest thing there is to an offical message board.

though I do not know the pain of losing a parent, I do know the pain of losing someone close to you. Far too long has that pain kept me from doing many things in my life. It's a pain that may never go away, but, as time passes on, we grow stronger, and are able to continue on with life as we hold true. Death is never an easy thing to accept. The more we lose the weaker we become. But, it is through that knowledge that we can become stronger, and come to realise that Though death is always casting it's eye upon us, we know it should be looked at as more of a companion that goes with us through out our lives, and not as some dark and forboding stalker that only waits at our feet to take us.

I hope that Al is able to get better, and I also hope that he treasures the moments that he has of his parents. Growing up with them, learning from them, and more importantly, loving them unconditionaly.

Well, I'm in a Weird Al mood as of late, and I just now realized how hard his early albumls are to find. Everywhere I go (if they have Al at all) it's all BHD - PH. I want stuff I haven't heard before! :_|

So, guess what I just bought from Amazon.com?

    :(

Wow! I just came on to check out what was going on in this thread, and then find this out. :(

Thanks J-A-S for the links. I just read the message from Al.

As always, he did a great job expressing himself, especially at such a time as this.

A very sad thing indeed. It's great that he is continuing the tour, but I'm sure his fans would understand if he postponed some shows if he needed to.

As for J-A-S and his purchase....IT'S ABOUT TIME! :p

Though the box set is great, it is still nice to have all the other songs that are on his earlier CD's.

    Keep searching! :)

You can usually get them for around $9.99 at some stores. You know, the "Best Buy" CD's, which indeed they are!

And on that note, I take my leave.

    R.I.P. Nick and Mary.

Smith, there's a place (Nebraska Furniture Mart) about 50 miles from me. They have almost ALL of the albulms for just $10 each. :_|

    Or so I've heard. :p

Actually, I got that quote from 'Silence of the Lambs', and use it quite a bit.

Dr. Lector or is it Lektor? (I've seen it both ways somewhere). Anyways, he says that. :D

Speaking of movies, I bought 'Kill Bill' the other day and watched it for the first time, and boy howdy did I like it!

If you like 'Pulp Fiction', you will like 'Kill Bill Vol.1'. I went and saw Vol.2 today, and liked it just as well, but to me it didn't match Vol.1 in action.

At any rate, a couple of good movies.

    Think We Are Clones Now

    Written by: Master-Jedi-Smith and Coolsaber
Parody of "I Think I'm a Clone Now" performed by: "Weird Al" Yankovic
    written by: Al Yankovic(l)/Ritchie Cordell
(parody of "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tommy James and the Shondells)

Isn't it strange...? Feels like we're lookin' in the mirror
What would people say...if only they knew that we were
Part of some dark lord's plan
Bent on ruling with an iron hand
There in Topica City 10 years ago
Master Sifo-dyas placed an order for a clone army and so I say ...

I think we are clones now
There's always two hundred of us just a-hangin' around
I think we are clones now
'Cause every chromosome is a hand-me-down

Look at the way...we go out blastin' close together
I guess you could say...we're really beside ourselves
This is how they say it begun
Jango was on a moon of Bogden
Approached by a man called Tyranus
All Jango wanted was some money
Plus an unaltered clone he could teach all that he knew ...

I think we are clones now
There's always two hundred of us just a-hangin' around
I think we are clones now
'Cause every chromosome is a hand-me-down
I think we are clones now
And I can stay in space while I'm on the ground
I think we are clones now
'Cause every pair of genes is a hand-me-down

    Busting up the Separatist's plans
    Saving Jedi from the Geonosians,
Training every day, it's all right
Well we can be our own best friends and we can confuse the Kaminoans, so I say...

I think we are clones now
Another one of me's always hangin' around
I think we are clones now
'Cause every chromosome is a hand-me-down
I think we are clones now
We've got to fight the Clone Wars, we're spaceward bound
I think we are clones now
And every pair of genes is a hand-me-down
I think we are clones now
Those are my genetic twins always hangin' around
I think we are clones now
'Cause every chromosome is a hand-me-down
    [hr]
    Coruscant
by Jedi-Anakin-Solo & Jedi-Master Smith (Parody of Albuqurque by Al Yankovic)

Way back when I was just a little bitty boy living on a planet farthest from the brightest center of the universe in the slave quarters half a block down the street from Watto's Junk Shop... You know the place... Well anyway, back then life was going swell and everything was juuuuust wizard!!! Except of course for the undeniable fact that my mother and I were slaves and we were sold by Gardulla the Hutt to Watto.

    Dawww!! Watto for a master!
Every single day! It was driving me crazy.

I said to my mom, I said, "Hey, mom, what's up with Watto being my master?" And my dear, sweet mother, she just looked at me like a womp rat looks at an oncoming T-16.
And she leaned right down next to me, and she said, "HE PAID FOR YOU!" And then she made me stop working on C-3PO and sent me to Watto's shop where he forced me to fix things for him until I was 9 and a half years old.

That's when I swore that someday, someday I would get off that planet and travel to a magical, far far away place, where the planet is one big city and the air smells like warm blue milk, and the Jedi robes are oh so fluffy! Where the padawans and their masters practice with their lightsabers all day long, and anyone in the Galactic Senate give you a ride in their Senate box for a nickel!

    Wacka, wacka, poo-doo, yeah!

Well, let me tell you, sentient beings, it wasn't long at all before my dream came true. Because the very next day, a Jedi master named Qui-Gon placed a bet on me to win the pod race that takes place on Boonta Eve. I was almost killed, but I still got first place. That's right, he freed me and gave me a first class, one-way ticket...
    to Coruscant!
    Coruscant!

Oh yeah. You know, I'd never been on a real space ship before, and I gotta tell ya, it was really great... except that I had to sit by Ric Olie who kept pointed out the obvious. And Jar Jar who kept snoring the whole time.
