That's funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing!

He does seem to be in a very "rugby" pose and it would suit the three feathers motif a lot more if he was holding a rugby ball.

Guess we'll have to put that one on the list also.


Edit Just noticed TimBolton, the Welsh Dragon is pointing the wrong way. I know it makes more sense to kind of have him poining towards the forum, but the National Flag should always be represented in its intended format. Funnily enough, I had exactly the same issue with Jairen when he was designing the Welsh FFUK name tags. Guess it must be some kind of thinly vailed Englsih insult, much like hanging a cross unside down.

Where is Jairen anyway? Haven't seen or heard from him in ages?

Darkness on Watto - I noticed it too, in PhotoShop the pics is quite bright, only when the image is saved as a jpeg for the web does it become dark, I'll sort it out.
Welsh flag with "Croeso" - coming up
Stadium - yeah, it's flipped and actually a different pic (Just before you posted the original I found the one I used, seemed a little sharper so I went with that.
Clone trooper - with the limited banner room, I'l try and see where to fit it on the main top banner (we have the side and the background banner for space too note). It's a great pic btw, nicely done Is a rugger ball needed too?
Tom and Tony - that pic is great!!! I am thinking of shifting Watto to the right side (back to the Welsh Jedi and facing left), and sticking Tom and Tony where Watto was, I'll mess around with the composition and see what looks ok.
Welsh dragon - well, if I had used the three lions of England in a English banner, I would not have given a second thought to turning them round (if there was a need), so no offense was implied, but sorry dude about that - like you said it was just a design thing of having the dragon lead the viewer (by looking right) into the webpage and content rather than leading them left away from the main content. I was still ooming and arrring over whether that bit was to be the flag and not just the dragon itself
It's important for you to be 100% happy with banner (so we'll do this till you are - and I'll post regular updates with pics to where I am up to), so I'll turn him the correct way

Is everyone happy with the sheep going up to the clone ship? With limited space, I am keeping any eye on what may need to be chopped ie my stuff since your stuff that you suggest is more important.

Bit behind schedule, was tired yesterday so I didn't do much, but here is the "completed" top part of the banner, on your approval. The cool red Clone trooper will now replace the Welsh dragon on the bottom left where the sheep enter the banner. Am carrying on now until I finish or something needs changing

I can't really fault the banner thus far, Wotto looks a lot better and you mentioned the stadium light issue, so it will be interesting to see what that looks like fixed.

This is the complete main banner, curve, and side banner.
Everything needing fixed has been, tho I keep looking to just below right of the Falcon / Left of TheForce.Net and thinking there could be something small put in there, if you so wish - I have covered all the main national symbols: Dragon, Leek, Daffodil, Three feathers - now I know where it is from lol

I may change the "TheForce.Net" font to the same as "Croeso"

Now for what's left -

Background banner (goes to the right of the top banner) - this is the same size as the top one. I plan to have the speederbikes on Snowdon, the sign with the longest name of a Welsh village, maybe a pic of Anglesey from the air if I can find one and a few other things.

If you look at what I did for the "FFUK: North" here - [image=http://www.timbolton.freeserve.co.uk/forum_pics/ffuk_north_backgrd.jpg] - I kept it more basic and a little more flowing as this part of the top area of the whole banner maybe be hidden depending upon your screen size - its not as essential.

I'll start work on this now, I am hoping to get it done after tea, hopefully before Egypt comes on

After that, there are two small banners which can go either side of the advert that appears, and also a banner that appears when you make a post. These are non-essential, but I will do them so that you maintain your Welsh identity on all possible banners

You may also want to redo the Clone Trooper. It was just something I knocked together in a couple of minutes. So if you think you can get it looking a bit better, then by all means please do so.

 

I'll have a dabble with the Clone trooper tomorrow, been looking at it all day and I am sure it has just started to dance Look it fresh after work. To be honest, your version was fine IMHO, I didn't feel the need to alter.

Anyways, I have got somewhere on the part of the banner that goes to the right of the main top one. Depending upon your screen size this can be partly or, if you have a monitor the size of my hand, fully hidden.

Maybe we should change the scout bike to a snow speeder? It would look much more at home on the snowy mountain backdrop than a scout bike would.

And since we already have a pic of the Millennium stadium in there, perhaps something else could replace it.

Remember this part will not necessarily appear on the screen, at work the monitor is set to 800 X 600 I think - only the first banner (top left) appears.

I was just wondering if Caerphilly Castle should be there? I don't think two castles next to each other really works? By the way, what is that pic you've put on Harlech Castle? I can't make it out?

Apart from that, it looks great mate.

One other minor point I wanted to raise, but forgot was regarding the leek on the left of the banner. Would it be possible to extend the lightsaber blade a little, so it looks like its coming directly from the leek? As it it now, there is a gap between the leek and the blade.

Heh, sorry about that Welshguy, I had actually "fixed" it a while ago (it's a layer shadow on the leek), I just needed to move layers, and hadn't posted the updated version. I am thinking of trying a blue lense flare at the point where the lightsaber meets the leek, I'll post if it looks any good

I agree, Caerphilly is sorta out of place, we need something about the same length. Have a think, I'll keep checking and as soon as you post, I'll work on it. I'll have a think too.

After this we only have the "Reply image" (appears straight after you post with the thank you message - not every FF has a different one for this) which is 437 pixels by 88, and two small pictures (74 X 58 pixels) on either side of the adverts the JC put on each board.

^ If this version is ok (without any more people over the top / behind) then we need just one background pic to go behind Wicket (and then I'd say its complete) - if there a Welsh forest that is recognisable via some feature? Cos a forest would fit well behind.

I can try and put Richard Burton and Stanley Baker in Imperial cossies (or Rebel if you prefer). I can get John Rees Davies in as something too - do you want Batman actually in there, or the actor who plays him?

I've been looking at it and i'm not really happy with the angle and limited amount of the castle on display.

Any chance you could put this one in instead?

I know it looks very similar, but it shows quite a bit more of the castle and is far more visually impressive.

No problem at all, it's all in different layers, so altering ain't a prob. I will use the bottom pic I think, of the Welsh valley, see if that fits ok to go next to Harlech

It's getting late, so I may attempt that and then call it a night I think, I'll post where I am up to before I shut down the comp, and get back to it after work.

If it's ok, I'll use the pic I showed you of Bale (with added lightsabers), along with the other people in Imperial cossie, I can add the Batman Bale too, maybe with Vader Batman and Vader kinda look a good couple ) - I am going to put a Death Star background, so we don't need to worry about backgrounds for the reply banner.
