Were Hayden and Natalie too attractive?

they werent ugly, but most people on the planet earth could willingly say they definetly werent McGregor, Christensen and Portman either. It was like a vogue catwalk up in a coruscant at times

 

This is a problem for most movies and TV shows, but not for star wars. For example, on CSI or the legal dramas you have these super-hot lawyers and police officers and we so rarely see that in real life. If people are that attractive, they model or act. However, this is the star wars universe. It's fantasy. Who's to say people in the other universe a long time ago just weren't more attractive. Also, Anakin is made by the force, he should be attractive. And Portman is royalty so you'd think royalty could bring good looks into the family with teh power if they weren't already attractive.

She probably just has self-esteem issues (after all, she has plenty of other issues). I think Hayden and Portman are a convincing match as Fisher's parents. But then perhaps Fisher's real-life parents were that attractive? I think she was more attractive in IV than portman is.

 

If you ask me Natalie wasn't attractive enough. I don't want to sound mean but I believe she is overrated when it comes to looks. Shes not hott, shes good looking, but she isn't hott. I'm a guy that likes to get around and I have seen hotter women then Natalie, she is one of those chicks that I would label as "average".

Thats just me though. Again, she isn't ugly, I mean she IS good looking. But not as hott as all these "Star Warsy" fans claim her to be. Maybe its because SW has never had a "eye candy" type female so whenever a actress like Natalie comes along, we go over-board and exaggerate and call her hott and crap like that.

As for Hayden, he was a pretty boy, I'll admit that.

 

i think hayden was sooooooo much better looking when he wasnt dressed for the role of anakin. like in his interviews he is very nice lookin.
but i think natalie looks perfect as padme but i hate her dressed normally

im not sure i would brag about being a guy that 'gets around' #1, and if you think Natalie Portman (who I think is one of the most classicaly beautiful women I have ever seen...and Im a girl) is average, who the heck do you think is pretty!?

 

Well, I'm not going to comment on Haydens's looks cause I'm a GUY and could really care less. Now Portman, well she's very pretty, especially in the FACE. She has excellant facial features,ie; high cheekbones, aquiline nose, and a very smooth, pearl like complexsion. Her body is quite petite-a little too small for my taste, and she has zero cleavage, which is a negative. I think she got breast augmentation though, least thats what I heard. Anyway to sum Portaman up, looks-wise, she's extremely pretty, but NOT extremely sexy due to lacking a more voluptuous figure. So I'd have to give her a nine on a scale of one to ten. You got to be both PRETTY and SEXY in my book to get a ten.

 

Natalie is beautifull, yes, but for some reason I find her to be very unappealing. Unattarctive. I don't know why. Maybe it's her voice or the way she carries herself. Something about her is very annoying.. I don't know why people think she is sexy... Hayden is rather handsome but perhaps he doesn't look mature enough. I suppose I would have liked him to look slightly different. More "charismatic" than "cute", if you catch my meaning. Hayden just doesn't have much charisma. This is just my opinnion ofcourse

I don't find either of them extraordinarily good looking. Hayden is cute and Natalie is pretty but neither of them are drop-dead gorgeous. Especially when you consider Hayden's awful hair. I feel bad for the boy.

 

Natalie Portman is a plain, period. And don't know if it's a star-fetish or somethin but I fail to see the claims of beauty and hotness here. I see better looking women BY FAR EVERY DAY. If I didn't know who she was and she walked by me I wouldn't even acknowledge her. And I like to look back, and um, she aint got much to look back at. She looks like hundreds of regular girls.

 

Natalie Portman is beautiful. No question about it.

Why would you ask such a question?

 

Actually, while I think Natalie is cute, I don't find her to be beautiful or "hott" as many of you spelling-challenged people find her to be. I also cannot see how she looks like Luke or Leia at all. Oooh, she has brown hair and so does Leia! Whoa! So do I! We must all be related! For someone who was supposed to be cast based on looks, I cannot see them.

Anakin on the other hand, I do see the resemblance to Luke, and a little to Leia as well. I can definitely see it in RotS and ANH.

As for if they are too attractive, I don't necessarily think so. Lucas once said that this is a much more civilized time period, sort of like the early 1900's, where everyone in the upper class was very glamorous and dressed up all the time. Very romantic. Which, by the by is the only reason I can justify Natalie's wardrobe in AotC. Goodness, whenever I'm trying to escape assasins and blend into the "normal" crowd, I leave my golden headdress at home!

Not at all! I love Hayden and Natalie! They were perfect together. Not to mention the fact that Hayden is absolutely GORGEOUS . They were just fine. Remember, Natalie was the Queen/Senator of Naboo, so it would seem fit to portray her as beautiful. As for Hayden, he was one of the main characters, so he should be good looking.

It does make their attraction to each other sooo much more blind, but they were great for the parts. Hayden is gorgeous and Natalie is honestly Beautiful/Cute/Adorable/and at times necessary to express the emotion with Hayden...sexy.

people grow up and stop fighting over if Nat is hott or just pretty. Different strokes for different folks; if someone thinks Nat is plain so what we all dont have the same eye for what is beautiful.
I dont think Natalie looks like Carrie I dont beleive Nat's Padme could be Leia's or Lukes mother. I know Carrie is shorter than Nat but Nat looks so much more petite and she doesnt have the same body that Carrie had. I think Nat*Hayden are too pretty for their roles, I think they were only chosen for their looks because they have no chemistry together and they dont bring anything memorable to their characters. With the OT it was more about who would play the best character nnot who looked the best. I think it was a casting agent that said Carrie wasnt the normal Hollywood beauty but she was still perfect for Leia. You can tell they didnt do that this time around. Natalie is a beautiful girl IMO but she is awful as Padme. Hayden is a little to pretty boy but he atleast has some resemblance to Luke. Mark was a pretty boy before his accident which made him look more rugged and like he had been fighting a war; the only thing they did to make Anakin look like he had been to war was give him a scar on his eye. Hayden and Nat are much better looking than Luke and Leia but it is balanced because Luke and Leia have mor personality and brains. Everything Ive seen Hayden in he's been hott; Ive loved that man since i saw him onhigher ground. But the weird thing is I thinkthe cartoon Anakin is better looking than the movie Anakin(he also has alot more muscle)

 

I think Hayden was chosen for his looks among other things. He was casted when he was what? 19 years old? But you guys remember that Natalie was cast at the age of 14 years old. She wasn't pretty then, she wasn't hot then, she was just darn cute. She wasn't a Hollywood type. The only other movie she really did was Leon and she was AMAZING in that movie. Wasn't Natalie the very first person cast in the prequel trilogy?

And for the role of Anakin, they had to hire someone who could look like they could be Luke and Leia's father, could act, could be athletic and have chemistry with Natalie Portman.

I don't think they're too pretty for the roles. I think they are supposed to be pretty for the roles. In ROTJ Leia tells us how her mother was beautiful.. so you HAVE to have someone who is beautiful and Natalie is. Anakin is the poster boy for the Jedi, he's young and handsome.. Hayden is that.

I think, just talking look-wise, it works very well. No, Hayden doesn't look exactly like Mark and Natalie doesn't look exactly like Carrie but you know what? My mom (when she was my age) didn't look all that much like me. But you CAN see the resembelence.

Anakin probably should have been uglier. Honestly, what good looking person has any real problems in life?

Plus, it would have helped fuel the angry loner aspect, and made the prospects of him scoring Padme even less likely.

 

Okay, if you were the Force, and you were going to conceive the most powerful Force-user in the galaxy to bring balance, would you make him UGLY? A man who was born to be special can believably excel in looks as well as power.

Also, if you look at Luke in ROTJ, right after he throws down his saber in the duel and is speaking with the Emperor, his resemblence to some shots of Anakin (especially AOTC) is downright EERIE, I kid you not.

Young OBI-WAN? I feel like the only person who found ROTS Obi-Wan very very handsome! (the only reason Anakin is drool worthy is because the 'hayden's been working out for 3 months and we need to show it off to make everyone happy' shot)...which is a very nice shot BTW, but...Obi-Wan...COME ON!

Of course we are!!!!!! I only like Anakin in ROTS...i thought he looked "okay" in AOTC. But MY GOD!!!!! that scar is priceless. That makes his "evil" look complete. First is the hair. That was just "to-die-for." And that mechanical arm was just simply hot.

 

We still have yet to be shown why they love each. We have seen Anakin's infatuation with Padme, and see why he likes her, but we still don't know why she loves him.
And as actors, Christensen and Portman have no chemistry.
And that balcony scene?? ugh. It's primarily that scene and the movie's pallid attempts at love dialogue that keeps the movie from being the best big-name flick of the year. The best big-name flick of the year? Batman Begins.

 

Didnt Nat and Hayden date duriing AOTC? I cant understand why they lack so much chemistry 2gether. Then again they are great actors but suck in these movies. I dont know why they love each other either; yes Anakin is infatuated but how does that turn to love? And there is no reason for Padme to love Anakin; unless she is just in lust. I think thats why their relationship ended like it did, it was a relationship built on sinking sand and they wouldnt have reached the 5yr mark you know if Anakin hadnt killed her. Luke*Anakin kinda resemble each other but Hayden is still better looking than Mark. And Padme looks like neither of her children; she only has Leia's hair and eyes.
