What I want to know is whether or not the used the same baby for the birth and the " dropping off " scenes. Because the babies at birth certainly look like newborns (not premature at all) and the babies at the end looked like a couple months old. I assumed that meant that the end of the movie was supposed to take place a month or two AFTER the birth. Not a few days, as it may seem. If they used CG babies for the birth, then that would explain the difference. It just seems like there is no way the baby(ies) shown at the birth are the same one(s) shown at the end.

I also remember RM saying something WAY back about the twins supposedly being a month old or so at the end of the movie.

I have no clue about that, but they sure did look like the same baby now that I think about it. And I have to admit, the movie seriously felt like it took place within 2 days. Maybe less. But of course it wasn't. It just felt like everything went so fast.

How could you people read that novel? I picked it up at the bookstore and started reading and I was bored to death in the first sentence...I APLAUDE ALL THAT FINISHED THAT BOOK!!!!=D=

At the end of the movie, the twins Luke and Leia are less than a month old. - RM

I believe that just one baby was used, and they look the same to me. However, this depends on when they shot the scene. A background plate was shot during AOTC, whether or not Ewan was in it, I don't know. I believe Owen and Beru were shot seperately, with Owen's being during pick ups and Beru's during the last weeks of filming. Could be wrong about that though, but I'm nearly positive they were shot at different times and composited together. So they could have filmed Ewan actually giving a baby to Bonnie during principal photography, or they edited in the baby later. So I guess I really don't have an answer. :p

I don't think Ewan was in the scene, he was composited in, I believe. Just an extra in a robe for AOTC, as Ewan never had to go to Tunisia, only Hayden and Natalie.

I haven't been able to tell by the babies' faces if the newly born are the same as the dropped off babies. I do know that they used dolls in the actual birthing scene and CGI'd babies in over them, that's why they appear so large, I believe.

Well, it's just obvious that the babies at the end of the movie are NOT newborns, or even a few weeks old.

WEll, yeah about Owen, did anyone else notice the difference in him between AOTC and ROTS? He appeared to have lost weight in his face or something.

Heh, he shouldnt have. That last scene in ROTS was filmed at the same time as AOTC. Lucas didnt want to have to go back to Tunisia for just one shot.

Yeah, I know. I had heard they were filmed at the same time and that's why I was confused about why seemed to look different.

Here's two pics. I don't know what it is, but something about him just seems different:

There's never any telling how much time passes by in a SW movie. Twenty-five years after the release of TESB, we still don't know exactly how long Luke was on Dagobah with Yoda. When I saw the twins after Amidala gave birth, they appeared pretty healthy as if she carried them full term or at least nearly.

Joel Edgerton (Owen Lars) filmed his ROTS scene in June of 2004, Bonnie Piesse filmed her ROTS scene during summer of 2003. The scene Lucas shot in 2000 (during the AOTC shoot) in Tunisia was scrapped, it was of a hooded Obi-Wan stand-in handing the baby to Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton) but Lucas later felt better having Obi-Wan hand the child to Beru.

Someone commented Owen looked slimmer in ROTS, I think it's mostly due him not wearing his longer outer robe, which he did wear in AOTC and ANH.

The only thing kept from EP2 was background plates shot of the homestead, which they modified to look like evening. All this can be read in the Making of ROTS book, with exact dates these scenes were shot.

There's six months between when Anakin became a Knight to when ROTS begins. However, since Lucas couldn't use real babies and didn't want to use animatronic babies that looked premature, this is what we get.

Either way, the babies were early.

It seems like all that took place in like a week or something, but it was probably longer than that. Something else I don't understand though is when the medical droid said they had to work fast to save the babies like they were going to do a C section but she gave birth to them naturally. Confuses the hell out of me:oops:

I would just like to say, as a woman, who knows about pregnancy... that Natalie Portman looked about 4 months pregnant when she was apparently completely to term in ROTS. LOL. And she was carrying twins??... who wound up looking about 10 pounds each after birth? Twins are RARELY over 4-5 pounds each, even when they ARE to term, anyways! She didnt even look like she was carrying ONE healthy baby! Well... thats the movies for you.

The thing is that to use a pregnancy pack that's 100% accurate would make it impossible for the costume designer to create an outfit that would hide it. Thus the pack was considerablly smaller. As the shoot moved towards the Mustafar scenes, Portman wore a more noticable pack and less concealing clothing.

I agree. The medical droid says that they're going to operate. A natural vaginal birth is NOT an operation.

My aunt was nine months pregnant, and she still wore her regular clothes. She had NO belly. Her son grew up to be 6'6". He was long and thin.

Padme doesn't look "four months pregnat", because no woman shows at that stage. She looks pretty big. She is only 5'3" and very tiny. Her babies were probably only 5 pounds each. No baby that small is allowed to be in SAG.

What I don't understand is why didn't they knock Padme out and put her on life support? What the hell made them induce and make her have kids when she was so messed up? If she was unconscious, then she could have slept a few days. Of course she'd be a widow and mourn, but she would have made it.

Well, they were trying to save the babies. I guess they were willing to cut their losses with Padmé.

They might have different bioethics in the GFFA than we do here on Earth.

And yes, pregnant women can have little or no belly. I saw a recent pic of Christine Taylor, whose second child is due soon. She has only a little tiny belly.

Thats just the different light, as far as I can tell. Sunset makes his hair look darker.

Yep, the medical droids are just plain incompetant. They probably use the exact same cpu as 3CPO for intelligence. :p
