I'm listening to the Vector Prime audio book.
Can someone tell me how the vong voices sound in other audio books?

Edit: Discussion of things obtained illegally isn't allowed, so stick to the pure topic itself please.

I haven't heard any audio books but the way you described them is how I had imagined them.

Never listened to an audiobook, but I had always imagined them as sounding like Neimoidians with more of an edgy, gutteral sound.

I always imagined them as having gutteral, gruff voices, it fits with their persona as would-be galactic defeaters

I imagined it to be quite asian sounding.

Clipped and with emphasis seeming to naturally reside on harsh consonant sounds. Spat more than spoken.

Many words in the Vong language seem to have an asian feel to them, IMHO. Especially in Vector Prime and the Dark Tide Duology.

Warriors I always imagined to generally spit their words out vehemently and aggressively.

Priests, I imagined to speak a little more lazily, for want of a better word. The enunciation more relaxed and less aggressive.

The same for the likes of Nom Anor, Tsavong Lah and various others of high status.

I thank they have a really deep voice. My reason is because since they are told to be such big, gruff, people I think there voice will be deep. I think also they will have somewhat of a mid-western accents.

In the Dark Tide books they sound like cheesy Russian villains.

    Spat more than spoken.

This sounds about right. I think of them as similar to Klingon...

    Quop'lah, Do'ro-ik Vong Pratte! :p

Actually, Santa_the_Hobbit, that was kinda thinking along those lines too! Though Nom Anor's voice (and possibly a few others) should have a softer, more pursuasive sort of tone. You know, manipulative.

I always imagined them as having guttural Russian x Asian accents.

Or I just combined everyone else's opinions in this thread.

    Who knows?

    Mid-Western accent?!

Say 'Do'Roik Vong Pratte!' in a midwestern accent. Sounds ridiculous!

I have several of the audiobooks. In the ones I've listened to, they have cheesy Russian accents. It's kinda hilarious, really.

Nah, ya'll got it wrong. Them boys all talk like they's from Jawja. (I know, I know - the YV don't speak with a Southern accent. God does.)

I always thought the Yuuzhan Vong sounded either like Rednecks with deep accents or like tough English men with voices like some of the guys in Snatch.

If anyone out there saw The Fifth Element, I'd assume they sound a bit like the Mangalores. (The warrior aliens that work for Zorg)

Exactly! Also, Nom Annoying has been in the GFFA for awhile now. Long enough to be able to say Jedi instead of Jeedai. So he would have a better grasp of Basic.

    On the topic at large:

In Traitor, Page 223 as Ganner is becoming paralysed:
One of the warriors barked in their harsh tongue.
Jacen shook his head. "No. We'll take him with us."
    Cough hack snarl--
    "Because I say so."

    Emphasis mine. ;)

I always imagined them sounding like Dinobot from Beast Wars.

    What?

Hmm...Dinobot...that kinda gruff speech is perfect for them, though I always "hear" Nom Annoyance in my head talk in a whiny, Starscream/Cobra Commander voice. Tsavy I give a "Destro" deep baritone voice, though the original Megatron's raspy, arrogant voice could suit him well. For Shimrra, a deep, booming voice like Lord of the Ring's Sauron (creepy, but cool). ;)
