Anakin's arm got chopped off in AOTC...does anybody know what happened to it?? wouldn't it be cool if it disappeared?? along with each individual part that is lost as he slowly turns to Vader??...I am wondering because what's left of his body disappears in ROTJ....maybe through the Force and future events in motion through the Force, Anakin retains a part of himself through the Force as it is lost and then finally in ROTJ he is made one with the force....

I don't think his arm would disappear.

"I am wondering because what's left of his body disappears in ROTJ"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing Anakin disappear in ROTJ. The only Jedi who we see disappear are Obi-Wan and Yoda. The only reason people think Anakin disappears is because we see his spirit at the end of ROTJ next to Yoda and Obi-Wan.

Also, Vader's body was burned, making him turn to ash, then he disapeared ;)

But YodaJeff is right, he did not vanish, you just see his ghost along with Yoda's and Obi-Wan's. As for his arm, did you not notice the robot arm at the end? He got it replaced. But where the original arm went, I do not know, maybe it just disintegrated, being there for a long time, but, he does get a robotic arm and does not vanish in ROTJ, he just gets turned to ash and his spirit joins Yoda's and Obi-Wan's.

Firstly, no, I don't see any reason why the arm would disappear. A Jedi is the one that becomes with force - not his/her arm. :p

Secondly, YodaJeff, although you are correct technically, the OS and GL claim that it is just the suit that is burnt at the end of ROTJ.

I think the more poignant question is, after Dooku cut off Anakin's arm, it wasn't exactly lost, unlike Luke's. Could they not have put it back on? I'm pretty sure they had the technology to re-attach it, even if the ends were fused.

I think I just figured out what the big twist will be in the PT:

Palpatine is going to clone Vader from Anakin's stumpy arm!!!

    It's SO obvious!

Perhaps it gets cloned and becomes Anaakin!

I don't think they could attach the arm; if they did people would riot over why Luke's arm wouldn't be reattached some 20 years later.

Anakin Skywalker's arm is eventually eaten by Genosian insects as it lays on the floor of Dooku's secret hanger still decomposing,or the Clone Troopers took it and burned it,or the most logical answer the clones took his arm and fed it to the areana beasts that werent involved in the battle but were inside the catacombs, they then gain midichlorians and become force sensitive beasts that use the Force to hunt prey.

on the subject of anikans arm:
do you think that with all the technology in those days, being able to graft a robotic device to someones stump, dont you think the should have been able to re-atatch his arm?

We can sorta a do it already, why not them ;)

Maybe they forgot about it. Just as easily as Denise Richards forgot her shoulder had a huge hole through it at the end of starship troopers. Or maybe Dooku took it with him, to play with.

I thought about that too...I mean they can CLONE perfectly...they can use the Force...they have cool little hologram thingys that are 3-D! Why couldn't they just reattach poor Ani's arm?

The only 2 conclusions that I came up with is either the lightsaber somehow burnt the tissue so bad that it would be infixable...because they are lightsabers. The power would cartalize the wound I imagine...or Good 'Ole Georgie just didn't plan well; so we have no explaination. *Shrug*

Hmmm... wow, I never wondered that! Maybe they looked for it, but just couldn't find it. :p or maybe Yoda dropped that pillar on it!

Vader dissappeared??? If by chance he did, then why does luke have such a hard time draging "just the suit" to an imperial shuttle? And why would he bother burning just the suit? hm.... I dunno. Sounds fishy to me.... like GL didn't plan ahead with continuity! WOW! What a shocker!!!! :p

There's no telling. I'm sure Obi-Wan, Padme, and Anakin himself walked over to it to examine it after Padme makes it to the hangar. I just can't see any of them just leaving the hangar without spotting it.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Anakin have a lightsaber duel against his severed arm in Ep3.

It could be a funny, yet violent homage to the fight between Ash and his possessed severed hand in Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn.

Ultra violent possessed severed limb humor is always hilarious. :p

I am with the lightsaber damage interpretation, because lightsaber injuries seem to be particularly heinous. When Qui-Gon Jinnwas impaled in Episode I, he did not appear to have lost any blood but he knew the wound was fatal. We must either assume that blood is lost and we do not see it, or more probably that horrible damage extends up within the affected body part. If even jugular veins and the spinal can be cauterized by a lightsaber, the blood probably boils up the associated bloodvessels and damages them too. Prehaps nerves are scorched away for some distance.

Replacing the arm would then require shortening the arm by an inch or two on either side, unless the arm could be kept alive and partially regrown over time. It works for me.

Of course he may have preferred not to reattach the arm for some personal reason, seeing as the mechanical one can move and probably eventually look just like a real one.

And as for Luke, his hand fell away into the mists of planet bespin, and he couldn't go back there to find it even if it had a place to land where it could be found.

His arm is there. Its a limb not a Jedi to disapper.Luke's hand was at the bottom of Bespin and they found the saber he was using they surely can find Ani's arm.

I'm sorry, but that made me laugh hard.

Anakin: Hurry! Quick! Padme, find my arm!

    *Padme starts frantically looking around*

Yoda: Gone it is. One with the Force it has become!

    Anakin: DOH!!!!!!!
This is all your fault Obi-wan! *sobs*

Hello fellow insomniacs. I did think it was weird why they would not have retrieved Anakin's arm to reattach. Let's hope there was an excuse and that it was completely lost or something fell on it rendering it useless.

I don't know what happened to Anakin's arm but I know where Luke's hand went.......... it starred as "Hand" in the Addams Family movies. Imagine that, it became more famous than Mark Hamill himself. :D

Frank: Hail to the King, baby.:)

Astar: I am Astar, a robot. I can put my arm back on, but you can't, so play safe.

Yeah, it's all about the lightsaber damage - maybe Obi-Wan has a couple of nice scars after the duel with Dooku. It would be much easier to graft tissue or possibly regenerate some in Obi-Wan's case than in Anakin's.

It's funny - you'd think Anakin, getting the Astar arm, would take a lesson from all of this - sometimes it pays not to be so hot-headed and impulsive. Somehow, I just don't see it happening.
