What if Jabba fell down the Sarlacc?

This thread made me wonder what kept all the redneck/punk kids on Tatooine from throwing beer cans, fireworks, and other stuff down the Sarlacc. I didn't see any fences or signs. The sarlacc was probably the hot hang out spot on Tatooine.

 

Bib, could you please explain to me why the Sarlacc gives me a disease in Star Wars Galaxies? Luke&Co didn't get a disease, so why do I?!

 

I would imagine that it would be like swallowing a piece of gum.
