This whole thread is flawed from the beginning since spin-offs and crossovers do not count as sequels...therefore your count for Alien and Friday the 13th is invalid.

Now had you stated that you were counting Franchises thats a different matter.

Even then its still off because simply because two continuities cross over does not combine the two franchises. While they in theory exist in the same universe this would be a flawed conclusion. By your logic star wars should have more films since ET makes a breif cameo and thus exist in the same continuity. And what about the Ewok movies which do exist in the same universe??

I mean do you include Scream 3 in the Veiw Askewniverse since Jay and Silent Bob make a cameo?

Would Coming to America be a Sequal to Trading Places because Mortimer and Randolph Duke make an appearance?

    I suggest revisiting your list.

Do you honestly not see a difference between some fun in-joke cameos of Jay and Silent Bob in Scream 3 and a film in which the two franchises cross over completely, and conjoin the two continuities. But I can see your point. So here's a revised list.

    1. Godzilla, with 29 sequels
    2. Dr. No, with 19 sequels
    3. Friday the 13th, with 11 sequels
    5. Star Trek: The Motion Picture, with 10 sequels
    6. TIE: Alien & A Nightmare on Elm Street, with 7 (s/pr)equels
    7. Halloween, with 6 sequels
    8. Star Wars, with 5 (s/pr)equels
    9. Rocky, with 5 sequels
    10. Three-way tie: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Die Hard, with 3 (s/pr)equels.

Okay, so now if we're counting episodes of Cheers we have to count all episodes of Frasier?

Star Trek movies with original cast members only lasted six movies. The TNG cast was only in four films.

Yes, but they are still sequels. I mean, "Star Trek: Generations" still follows the exploits of Captain Kirk past ST6, but is a TNG film. So, what would you have me do, put 'Generations' as a part of both the seven TOS movies and the 4 TNG movies, or simply leave it as is?

EDIT: LeeKenobi, how could you forget FrankenFish?!

I do. My point was that you were stretching a little to find material and your logic included not just sequals but connected franchises. I understand where you are going with that but by the nature of the term sequal it does not include all connected films. Thank you though for not getting upset with my point of veiw and revising your list. :)
