I cant even begin to tell you how much I love this score so ill just give you some scenrs I remember where the music just added to the overall drama and added extra affect to the scenes.

    The Opera Scene
    Order 66
When Obi-Wan is asking Padme if she knows where Anakin is
When Anakin is slaughtering the seperatists
When Padme is talking to Anakin before the duel
    The duel itself {Battle of the Heroes is awesome}
After Obi-Wan has defeated Anakin and says you were the chosen one
Padme giving birth while Vader is being born
Padmes funeral and the rise of Vader
Luke and Leias themes at the end

This is my favorite Star Wars sound track since Empire without a doubt.

Im not sure either of these bits is actually on the soundtrack, but my favorite 2 bits are

    a) when Obi-Wan takes off in his fighter and they play a very powerful version of The Force Theme, really reiterates for me that Obi-Wan is the true hero of the PT.

    b) Another force theme variant when Obi-Wan and Yoda are fighting the clone troopers outside the Temple. I wish the scene had either been longer or the opening shots pulled in so you can see the fighting better, but regardless the music when Yoda takes out the last clone trooper and swings his saber back up before turning it off gives me goose bumps -- not only do we see Obi-Wan and Yoda fighting side-by-side for one brief moment and also we see 2 of the greatest Jedi ever, not yet beaten, defending the Temple the way I'm sure either of them would have traded his life for had they been there during the attack. One of my favorite scenes of the movie by far.

Ok, the march when Anakin and the stormtroopers march on the temple...was that in any of the other prequals?

I remember it being on the AOTC dvd menu for the geonosis menu, but I dont remember it being in that movie at all. Now whenever I go to that DVD menu, instead of thinking of the fun geonosis battle, I think of younglings being slaughtered.

Also, I was surprised by this choice in the score when I first saw the movie. I was expecting the beginning of track 10 to play for the march on the temple (a soft, quiet theme to match the cool blue sky), but instead I got this march, and I was worried that anakin's turn was going to start being displayed as cool. Then Anakin's betrayal kicked in and I was like "wow, that actually worked". I still wonder if a cool (not as in slang, but as in a cool breeze), slow dark song like the beginning of track 10 had been used, whether the visuals of that scene would have resonated more.

I dunno what the song is called, but it's the same one used in the 'tragedy' trailer. When that plays and you see both Anakin and Padme reflecting inward while it cuts back and forth. That was probalby the most moving moment for me in terms of how the score plays out.

Padme's Ruminations it is called, and it's the Tragedy 2/End of Wars trailer. The tragedy trailer has battle of the heroes playing.

The heartbeat drumms just as Anakin and Obi Wan fly into the Battle of Coruscant.

The introspective and quiet score of Anakin in the council chamber as Mace
    goes to confront Sidious.

Oddly, I also liked the scoring of the scene between Kenobi and Padme when he
    tells her of Anakin's turn.

The SW theme as Owen, Beru and Luke look at Tatoo I and Tatoo II set on the
    horizon.

I have ALWAYS, thought that Duel of the Fates was the BEST SW Song EVER!! Well not always, but you know what I mean. But as far as moving, I would say the scene where Anakin has just murdered the Sep. Leaders and he is crying. It's the same music from Qui-Gon's funeral. Very moving. Made me shed a tear.

This score is by far the most meloncholy of the saga, and with good reason. It matches the film. Duel of the Heroes doesn't feel exactly like a triumphant song, and that the point. But I think the best use of music was during Order 66. Chills everytime.

There were so many... the 3 main ones, in order from third to first:

    3. BotH pounding out as Anakin and Obi-Wan fought on the giant station arm that was flowing towards the lavafall.
    2. The blasting music as we got that awesome wide shot of the two greatest masters of the force battling in the Senate Arena.
    1. The Order 66 montage which made you realise... it wasn't a battle, or a confrontation. I'd imagined it as the Jedi being caught off guard but the music makes you realise... it's a massacre, they never had a chance. In particular one particularly heart-rending moment as the camera pans over Felucia makes me suddenly realise, for reasons I don't know, just how large the scale is...

    I love this thread. :-B

The score alone moved me to tears in a couple places.
-Order 66 ("Anakin's Betrayal"), especially when it gets to Bail in his speeder. I cry like a little girl. This is one of my all time favorite pieces of Star Wars music.
-"Padme's Ruminations," brilliant scene and the music fits the mood of it perfectly.
-"Anakin's Dark Deeds," especially when Obi-Wan and Yoda find the dead younglings and Obi-Wan tells Padme what's become of Anakin.
-"The immolation scene," it's a bit eerie how well the music matches up with the amount of pain Anakin is feeling. Sooo sad.
-Padme's funeral/Vader's birth, "when I first realized this was the Qui-Gon funeral music I almost lost it. Absolutely perfect. And I LOVE that Williams chose to make Vader's birth/Anakin's death sound so incredibly sad.

Anakins betrayal and Dark Deeds are indeed very emotive.

I very much enjoyed the score to the Mace vs Sidious duel. It was creepy and scary and when it first kicks in as the doors open it makes your heart jump with excitment and anticipation.

But lets not forget the score to the end duels - oscar winning. As duel of the fates kick in and we see Yoda vs Sidious there is enough gravitas in that scene to sink a ship.

Another great piece of music is as Yoda throws Sidious across the room and delivers the line:

"At an end your rule is..."

    Bloody marvellous!

    1. The music as Anakin is starting to catch on fire. Pure perfection. SO HAUNTING!
    (Immolation Scene track)

    2. The Music as Bail is arrives at the burning Jedi Tempe/ Anakin killing Younglings/ Padmé starting to cry.

    3. Anakin's TPM theme mixed with AOTC's Love theme as Anakin is sitting in the living room after he had the nightmare vision of his wife's death.

    4. Battle Of The Heroes mixed with Duel Of The Fates as the two duels are cut into each other.

    5. The Force theme as Obi Wan takes off to his mission on Utapau.

Redundant by name, redundant by nature.... ;)

    >>>>The score alone moved me to tears in a couple places.

I agree with all of those, RS.
But I was also crying at:

    - Anakin's Dream: From the hairbrush scene right through to the end after Padme awakes. When he says You die in childbirth." and her first thought is: "And the baby?". The music in the whole of that scene is heart-achingly emotional.

    - I particularly loved the Force theme playing as George wipes from focusing on the Japor Snippet around the dead Padme, into showing us Vader walking up the SD bridge. Just hearing the Force theme playing as the suited Vader strides past us....it is just such a fantastically emotional juxtaposition. With nothing but pictures and music, George shows us everything that Anakin could have been, and also hints at the fact that Padme's dying words may yet be true....

    - I also loved the reprise of Anakin's Betrayal in the Mustafar scene between Padme, Anakin and Obi-Wan. I have always ended up with tears on my cheeks by the time Anakin says: "You turned her against me!"

In fact I think that Anakin's Betrayal is the single best piece of music in the entire Saga. I absolutely love the Force theme, but Anakin's Betrayal is only in Sith, and packs such an emotional punch because of it. And because of the truly tragic events it scores.

ROTS is without doubt my favourite score of all six movies.

    -JR :)

A few parts, even some that wern't (SADLY!) in the soundtrack.

The Death of Mace Windu... So sad.... I mourn him greatly...

The Force Theme always gives me chills when I hear it. (That's a good thing)

Battle of the Heroes was too great. But there was a part of the music that was only in the film. It was right after the Yoda duel had ended and the lava had just started to melt the repulsor arm. It starts right when Obi-Wan and Anakin duck behind one of the spires of the arm. With the trumpets sounding and everything it was great.

And definatly the Immolation Scene. That was perfect, nice tragic (My favorite type of music) and soft music, and yet sad. It was great, that's one of the reasons it's my favorite scene in the movie.

Luke's theme when discussing where he should go and the Force Theme when talking about Qui-Gon were great as always.

A New Hope's theme was well done nad perfect for that moment.

    All in all that's it.

The great music for the opening shot added to the sheer excitement of the space battle. Coupled with the visuals, it just made me think in the back of my head how long those 3 years in waiting were, and now the wait was over, for real. [face_dancing]

No matter what people thought of *that* scene, Anakin's Dream will always be a beautiful track@};-, esp. the rendition of Across the Stars after the nightmare.

What to say about the Duel music, it was absolutely brilliant and highlights include:
-the opening music of the duel, gets the pace going from the word go
-where yoda and sidious light up their sabers and talk ('darth vader will become more powerful...'); music in that part so foreboding
-when yoda and sidious' pod rises up into the senate chamber, and also DotF; the music gives, in the words of Master Shaitan, 'enough gravitas in that scene to sink a ship'
-the rendition of BotH when the lava hails down, and the huge column collapses into the lava
-I love the climax of Battle of the Heroes

All of the Immolation Scene is super, particularly when Padme drifts back into unconciousness and the skiff leaves Mustafar, the music reflects that the whole situation is steeped in emotional turmoil, and you know from the shattered look on Obi-wan's face.

I particularly like the music at the start of Padme's funeral, so soothing yet tinged with sadness, def. one of my favourites.

I really liked the version of A New Hope in the film, with the extra music as the Tantive landed on Alderaan and the camera zooms in on the royal palace exterior. I don't see why it was cut from the CD.

Defintitly the music "Anakin's Betrayal" when Order 66 is issued and we see the clones betraying the jedi masters. The music during the order 66 montage is very moving and sad and really felt like there was betrayal occuring during that scene.

    1) The Order 66 scene's music. That montage was so sad, especially when Ki-Ad-Mundi (sp?) stared at the Clonetroopers before he was killed.

    2) The entire music during Opera scene. Creepy if you ask me.

    3) The little almost mute like child music when Obi-Wan hands baby Luke over to Aunt Beru and its shows the close up of Luke.

    4) The powerful score during the Obi-Wan/Anakin duel and the piece of DOTF when Yoda duels with Sidious.

    5) The Immolation scene score.

Mine have been repeatedly stated previously:

    Order 66
Anakin leading the Clonetroopers into the Temple
    Obi-Wan & Anakin's duel on Mustafar.

Powerful as those scenes were on their own, the music just turned them into iconic scenes.
