Semi Sentient though they apparently had their own language and would teach young Rancors about their bonds with the Force Witches.

Sludir are supposed to be pretty strong, but stat-wise in the d20 RPG they're not quite as strong as Wookiees.

Togorians are taller, and pretty strong, but stat-wise in the d6 RPG, they're not quite as strong as Wookiees.

I like to think that Ewoks have the strength of chimpanzees. They are deadly when provoked.

    They are called Gorax(es).

They're also not the only giant sapient on Endor- another is the Phlog (not native- introduced):

which they might be related to- possibly descended from?

I wonder if there are in fact no "native races" with Endor being terraformed by the Celestials or some similar faction, and everything being introduced.

Celestial involvement might explain some of its weirder things- Mount Sorrow springs to mind.

Endor seems to be a hyperspace dumping ground anyway, though absurdity in general seems to maximise close to Black Holes when it comes to the GFFA. [face_thinking]

I guess if black holes hit critical mass they become plot holes?

Massassi, a subspecies of the Sith from Korriban. Naga Sadow brought them with him to Yavin IV after his defeat in the Great Hyperspace War.

Which really makes one wonder what the difference between "sentient" and "semisentient" is, really.

No, the problem was that none of the great works written by the famed rancor playwright Broken-Spear survived, and thus it was assumed that Rancors did not bother with a written language.
