Solar Opposites: Episode 6 - The P.A.T.R.I.C.I.A Device Very funny episode, Korvo creates a female robot to nag them when they are in their "man cave". She ends up turning into a man hating war machine killing all men she finds and destroying all man caves. During this time, Jesse is trying was given some homework to "break a glass ceiling" metaphorically in the name of feminism. Solar Opposites: Episode 7 - Terry and Korvo Steal a Bear This episode was all done inside the wall, as Tim rally's the Rebellion against the Duke. I liked the episode but why did they kill Molly the mouse? Also, Tim is a massive ass.
Captain Planet and the Planeteers Season 4, Episode 5: The Unbearable Blightness of Being Dr Blight switches bodies with Gaia! It's completely lifeless.
Finished up my third complete watch through of Freaks and Geeks which is one of the best shows ever. Such a shame it got cancelled after only one season, but each of the 18 episodes we have are true gems.
Solar Opposites: Season 2, Episode 1 - The Sacred Non-Repeating Number Good start to the second series, Terry has not finally called the family The Solar Opposites. Korvo gets a distress signal and ends up in London with the fam to discover a wealthy family hiding away until they find a Pupa. Ultimately, Jesse adopts a dog that is high maintenance and they pass that off as a Pupa and give it to the wealthy family. One of the funniest parts is when they tell the family that every time the "pupa" barks, they have to punch themselves in the face. xD Solar Opposites: Season 2, Episode 2 - The Earth Eraser This episode was ok, not the best, although the dogs eating humans and pooping them out as wine in bottles was quite funny. It was nice to see a bit more of Korvo and Yumylack, as there is little content focused just on the two of them, and their relationship. Solar Opposites: Season 2, Episode 3 - The Lake House Device This has to be one of the best episodes out of the show so far! Korvo realises that he can make changes to Terry via a time travelling letter box. Every time Terry does something to annoy Korvo, he sends a letter saying something bad will happen to him otherwise. The ending is the best though, Terry turns into a psychopathic killer, but find love with a blind girl. Very funny episode.
Batman: The Animated Series "Never Too Late": Batman helps a mobster find his son, while trying to avoid the mobster's rival, Rupert Thorne.
Watching a British series called Midsummer Murders. It's good, the show takes place in a small British town with a really high murder rate.
Captain Planet and the Planeteers Season 4, Episode 8: Future Shock A dark, heavily polluted future! The great-great-great grandchildren of the eco-villains! Blight 5! Verminous Skumm's descendant has two heads! Looten Plunder's descendant is named Pillage! This is the good stuff. Wait, Skumm had kids? He probably ****ed a rat. Blight I can understand, she's undercover hot. Zarm is in this episode, but unfortunately he's no longer voiced by David Warner, detective. He's now voiced by Malcolm McDowell, and no, he's not as good. Zarm sends the future eco-villains back to the past to sabotage clean tech so their bad future can happen. The future eco-villains bust a dam that floods a town and escape...and the Planeteers just leave to chase after them. They don't summon Cap to save the town. Ma-Ti insists that they turn around to save a little girl. The bad guys remark that this is why they're better; no heart. It's hard to disagree that not having to carry Ma-Ti around is an advantage. The future eco-villains run into their ancestors. Blight is surprised she ever had kids. The kids finally summon Cap, and hilariously, it seems the show is tired of it's own catchphrases, as Cap rushes through "byyourpowerscombinediamcaptainplanet". He wanted to get his own catchphrase over with. The eco-villains form up and create pollution bubbles which envelope Cap and shrink down into a form fitting suit of pollution. What. Cap is seemingly defeated, but the future eco-villains are still stuck in the past. They haven't succeeded in creating their future. Zarm returns to tell them that Ma-Ti saving that little girl prevented their future. So the villains have to kill her. Gaia shows up and summons future Planeteers! Guess they became the Legion of Planeteers. They summon future Cap! Goooooo Planet! I like how future female Kwame is just Kwame with earrings and...a mullet tacked on? They basically didn't bother to change the face at all. Look how big and swole future Ma-Ti is, though. Well, Ma-Ti is from the Amazon. Guess he likes Amazon women. Future Cap just blows those pollution bubbles back at the villains, taking out their vehicles. The villains take one last shot at the little girl, but Ma-Ti jumps in the way, which somehow destroys the bad future, preventing them from ever taking that shot in the first place. Guess saving the little girl meant something, after all. Who could have predicted that moral? Wheeler closes the episode by commenting that two of the future Planeteers look a lot like him and Linka. Linka shoots it down harshly, which...just seems needlessly insulting to Wheeler and not in any way crowd pleasing. Still, this is the good stuff. Badly needed after going through the motions for several episodes.
Doctor Who: Frontier In Space Jon Pertwee really is an awesome Doctor. I like him more and more after each serial I see of his and it's terrific to see some stories where he isn't stranded on Earth. I really dig Frontier In Space. Roger Delgado is one of the best actors in Who history, imo. He's great as The Master.
Just finished season 1 of The Crown. Lavish sets, authentic costume design, and some really great performances, especially John Lithgow's Winston Churchill which I would argue is a bit better than Oldman's portrayal in Darkest Hour. Looking forward to the next three seasons.
Apparently, one of the plans was to reveal that the Master was the Doctor's brother, but that got scrapped when Roger Delgado died.
Sasquatch, all three episodes. I watched it because my brother worked on it, but it was also an interesting documentary glimpse into the world of cannabis farming in Mendocino county. A lot darker than you think. Although this particular story ends on a fairly noncommital note, it's still a decent little doc series. Lighting for the interviews was great though, good job Ryan
I'm currently watching The Secret Diaries Of A Call Girl with Billie Piper I'm in season 2 just watched episode 4 in season 2! Boy does Billie Piper look like my favorite ASMRtist Scottish Murmurs!
I started Godfather of Harlem last week and I just finished the first episode of season 2. Forest Whitaker is fantastic as Bumpy Johnson. The show is brutal in its portrayal of the violent criminal underworld Johnson inhabited, but the characters are layered and interesting. Even the most unlikeable characters have nuance and moments of sympathy. It’s also interesting to see the politics of the times have direct implications on the lives of the characters. This is most prominent in Bumpy’s interactions with Malcolm X and Adam Clayton Powell (played by the fantastic Giancarlo Esposito). I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a crime series this much since Boardwalk Empire. I’ll plough through season 2 over the next couple of days and I really hope they make a third.
Yellowjackets: Season One, Episode One - Pilot What the actual **** was this!?! Killer cast, phenomenal director, and some truly shocking moments. I'm going to watch this until it ends five seasons later than it should. 15/10
Doctor Who: The Sensorites Really enjoyed this episode, takes second place, after An Unearthly Child, in my list for Hartnell's era. The story was good and interesting, the costumes were less desirable, but funny enough, and I thought the acting of the team has really started to pick up where the group are complementing each other nicely. I love how Hartnell fumbles over his words now and then, although errors, it makes him feel a bit more "human", like even he makes mistakes some of the time. The monster in this episode was quite cool, seems like an early concept of the Ood, and the peek-a-boo scene was kinda funny.
The Ood were based on the Sensorites, and both species's planets are in the same system, according to the 10th Doctor in "Planet of the Ood."
Watched more Midsomer Murders, season 17. A really good one about a UFO sighting. It's a great British show.
Captain Planet and the Planeteers Season 4, Episode 11: The Energy Vampire We start off in Dr Frankenstein Blight's gothic lab in a parody of classic horror films: Frankenstein and Bride, and King Kong, with Blight turning Duke Nukem into the titular Energy Vampire. This is the first episode where we get a continuous look at the scarred side of Blight's face. Still hot. At this point, Duke Nukem was no longer being voiced by the late Dean Stockwell. His replacement gave the character a staticky, chaotic, perhaps radioactive voice (kinda sounds like original Megatron), and it's honestly much better. Pretty cool, really. It's established that simply splashing Nukem with water saps him of energy, and even though Cap can be a water hose whenever he wants, he decides not to just take him down that way because then they wouldn't be able to convey the episode's message. The message is that The Energy Vampire is really us, we use too much energy. Duke Nukem is described as having become an energy addict, and a Native American dude says "we all have". The kids reason that Nukem will automatically go for the strongest energy source (which ignores Nukem's desire to kill Cap), which is usually Cap. So they have to boost the amount of power stored in the local energy grid to divert Nukem. So Cap, in the grasp of a giant, Kong-like Duke Nukem, telepathically reaches out to everyone and asks them to turn off their power. It's the narmiest **** ever. So people, like, turn off lights and televisions. It works. Nukem tosses Cap aside and goes for the power station. Cap is saved by a Beluga whale, which drags him into the river for healing. Cap simply knocks Nukem into the river, which has been there the whole time, and Nukem is toast. The show is so much better when they really lean into the stupid.
Batman: The Animated Series "The Last Laugh": The Joker pilots a barge that emits laughing gas in order to commit crimes. "When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping."
