In AOTC, Obi-Wan refers to an incident where he and Anakin fell into a nest of gundarks. I figure they're a kinda animal, but what do they look like? I'm curious b/c I was thinking about writing a fic on that...er, accident. Thanks!

Hmm.... I have no idea. Think they have big ears but I'm not even certain about that. Don't they have the Essential Guide to Star Wars Critters or something? Sorry I can't be more helpful.

There's an Essential guide to Aliens with a picture of one in it...

The first mention of a gundark was in The Empire Strikes back, of course.

Han tells Luke, who is almost done recovering from his wounds, "Kid, you look like you're strong enough to pull the ears off a gundark."

    "Thanks to you."

    "Thats two you owe me."

    Or something very similar.

There are actually many different species refered to as gundarks. They aren't very similar, and not always related in the least. The term gundark has been given to many creatures of fearse tempers by those who don't know any better. The names usually stick, such as the case of the aquatic gundark of Yavin IV. Most all of the are big brutish animals with large ears, which may be a reason as to why all of them are refered to as being gundarks.

    This a false gundark.

Like stecm said, check out the Essential Guide to Alien Species for an image of a true gundark, as well as a nice discription.

Also check out the CUSWE, or even the offical Star Wars Dictonary, if you want another discription. Wizards of the Coast's Alien Anthology might have a picture and dicription as well, I can't recall off the top of my head.

That should be all you need I think. The EU might go back and explain that incident at some point. But have fun.

Wow, Wedge88. Thanks! :) I went to the bookstore and found an entry in the essential guide of creatures, so now I have a pretty good idea.
