Where Are Captain EO, Hooter, Fuzzball, Major & Minor Domo in the NJO!?!

Actually they shut down captain EO because jacko was going to court over child molestation charges. Disney didn't want a jacko ride smearing there name, or "Give a bad influence on the audience". On the news a disney official said something to the likes, "We shut down captain EO as to replace it with something that reflects Disney standards of good wholesome entertainment, in the light of the evidence of Micheal Jackson's charges."

As I remember, there was no evidence towards jacko either, circumstantial at best. But disney was just trying to cover there ass, from parent activists from finding something to sue them about.

Anyone remember the little mermaid's Penis Castle?, or "SEX" in lion king, or "Take off your clothes" in Aladdin? All of those had lawsuites because of those ahem, "easter eggs". Disney was just trying to make sure they didn't get a lawsuit because of Jacko.

Well, I heard on the news at the time that it was due to low attendance. When I saw the ride in 1995 there was hardly anyone in line. I think it was closed down in 1997, and the whole child-molestation controversy happened a lot earlier...late 1993/early 1994 I think, so I don't know if Disney would wait that long to shut it down. Also, it seems a bit stringent to do something like that.

Actually they did shut it down around the time of those trials. They might have reopened it up afterword though. I'm guessing. I only remember what official said on the news at that time, and never kept up on disney history afterwords.

 

I don't see how that weakens the "only Lucas material is canon" argument one bit. It's NOT a SW film. The films are canon, period. Does it say "A Long Time Ago...." at the start of EO? Is it titled Star Wars Episode (?). No, it doesn't. It sounds like just another feeble attempt for EU fanatics to get their point across.

Ummmm, Captain EO wouldn't be EU, actually. If he's in the Star Wars galaxy, then he by default of being lucas' creation would be canon. So, the EU doesn't have anything to do with him. I'm wondering if (a big "if") he is canon, then where is he and his crew in the New Jedi Order.

Take your feeble attempts at EU bashing back to the movie forums.

Oh Captain Eo is canon alright. Although in NJO times, after his failed marriages, he probably leads slaver ships to catch young children for the Yuuzhan Vong. ( Gosh, I'm so evil... )

I decided to continue it in this thread since it's about captain EO, and Star Tours.

The story counts as LFL has refrenced multiple times, if people just know where to look. There was even a video special that showed the whole ride(minus a few frames) as a movie with lucas discussing the making of it and when it was set, and such back when the ride was first made.

Oh god I just figured it all out. I know who started the Yuuzhan Vong. It was Captain Eo. I mean the Vong are accomplished fighters and move with a skillful grace. Just as captain Eo busted out those dance moves the same way. Captain Eo has gone through many surgical procedures in sacrfice of his vainglorious beauty just as tne Vong scar and go thru surgical implants. My god Captain Eo is the god of the Yuuzhan Vong.
