    cheers Marcus, I kinda knew you'd have the answer. I don't have those monkey files for secret, but do for number 2. They are an identical format to #2 though so I'll give it a try.

    EDIT: Neither work, attempting to launch crashes

    I thought with pirates of the carribean films that Monkey 5 would have been released by now. When will it be? Hopwfully Ron Gillbert wil be back for it

    @Jedi_Matt: If you have the CDs how do you not have those files?

    You should just have to copy those two files (at least for MI2.) If the game uses CD audio, like the rerelease of MI1, you'll have to compress the music files too (because the game will try to look for them, I think.) Check the readme included with the release.

    I've seen that too. :) It's a really good theory, however Gilbert has denied that this was the real secret (though he might just be playing funny buggars with us :p) - he also denies telling anyone else what it was, so the confirmation at the bottom of the page from one of the artists has to be weighed against that.

    The version I have had both on the one CD, monkey island 1 is made up of just monkey1.000 and monkey1.001 IIRC, not the 8 files or whatever listed there.

    Alternative PC VGA CD**

    * MONKEY1.000
    * MONKEY1.001

    Games that have ** shown in their name use CD audio tracks for music, check readme included with ScummVM to see how to convert them to compressed files.

    The only thing cooler would be if Gilbert,Schafer, and Grossman all did Monkey 5. But since Grossman is on board, I'm sure this will be excellent.

    This is great news.. I always loved these games and have played (and finished)the first and second ones around 3, 4 times each..

    For those who dont know the series, the best way is to start from the first, as many characters are presented there

    The first three (Secret, LeChucks Revenge and Curse) are all pretty good.. for nostalgic reasons, the first one is still my prefered one.

    The Curse of MI (the fourth) is the only one that for some reason didnt catch my attention, I started to play but put it aside after some time.. maybe this kind of game doesnt work well with 3D (it becomes TOO difficult since for the character to spot any object he has to be right in front of it).. I dunno.. but now with MI back to the spotlight I might try it out :D
