for star wars: a new hope we had
    1. one atari game. jedi arena. 80's
    2. star wars video game based on the movie for nintendo.. and super nintendo..
    3. rebel squadron 1,2,3..
    4. the star wars arcade version

for the empire strikes back..we had..
    1. the ESB..for atari. 1980's
    2. nintendo, super nintendo.
    3. ESB arcade version. very rare.

for return of the jedi we had
    1. ROTJ arcade.
    2. super nintendo

for the trilogy we had a great arcade version wich you can still play in some places. you sit there in front of a big screen

for te phantom menace we had
    1. the phantom menace for playstation
    2. jedi power battles
    3. star wars racer. n64

You gotta be kidding... you never heard of The Clone Wars? Bounty Hunter? (which, admittedly, takes place before AOTC).

The Clone Wars is a pretty decent game -- might seem a bit old now that we have KOTOR, SWG, etc. But, man, right when I first played it I thought it was da bomb!

If they had put the Gunship in the multi-player part, I would still be playing Clone Wars.

gba? gawd..that sucks..the screen is so small i can barely see the action..also yes i played clone wars and bounty ..hunter..let me just say those are not AOTC games..they are EU..games..wich is what lucasarts loves to make nowadays..and u know why?

    because it is easier!!!thats why

and you know why all their recent games involve flying ships and shooting things..because they are easier to make!!

id like to go back tot he original nintendo and super nintendo version ..and do them over with all this technology we have..we should be able to play luke, han solo, leia..and rescue her from darth vader..i mean who in here wouldnt like that?

why do we always get some unknown guy fighting..like jango, or that guy from shadows..or kyle katarn..why is it always someone else? dont they have the rights to use the main characters?

im sorry but who wouldnt like to play yoda in AOTC and be fight dooku? AOTC had lots more than just love scenes..

The phantom menace game..was a great game..except fot eh view..but it had the movie feel..

edit..also i hear KOTOR is a great game..i just have one question who are those people in the game!!!! no more EU video games..please..lucasarts..please first make a good video game based on the films..then make ur eu crap..

go back and make an ESB game..where u are luke..on hoth..u get on a ship..u fight the at-ats..then u go to dagobah meet yoda..train..then go to bespin and fight darth vader...its so easy..yet u all reject the idea..of good video making.

    homeless jedi,

Would you like some cheese to go with your whine? :p

Seriously, Clone Wars did allow you to play as several of the main characters - you could even play as Yoda in the Geonosis training arena.

As for games with OT settings and characters, Rogue Squadron III is coming out next week... it recreates all the best moments of the OT :)

AOTC would make a great console title if done right. But that's the problem... if done right...

    tina :p

i know i been playing the rebel strike..demo..you do play luke in the battle of hoth..and it does take the best flying skills to bet the game..but i do have a problem.they are just basing the entire game on rogue squadron..leaving the other important story out of the game. like fighting darth vader and meeting the emperor..also playing as an ewok and fighting against the empire..its all about flying..but i did see they put more into a first person perspective in the game..even some shots straight from the movie with i really liked..

tina..ill skip the wine..just give me a good star wars game as good as the one for the original nitendo :p

    Homeless,

I didn't get to play early SW console games - but I did get to play the arcade ones. And frankly, I prefer today's games a a heck of a lot more. Also, I would get tired of playing as the main characters *ALL* of the time... That's just me - I'm not saying you're wrong, just that we obviously feel differently about it. :)

I'm sorry, but I hated that game. It not only had the movie feel, but it was...the movie! I don't want to play the movie (I just saw it!), I want to play a game based on the movie. Compound that with the fact that the Queen's electrogun, or whatever it was, was a piece of junk compared to what she had in the movie and that Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan could take on 10-20 battledroids by just deflecting the blasts and you have a game that is just not fun. I mean, instead of watching the game, I mean the movie :p, now you're playing it. Ugh!

lordjedi..sorry u feel that way..but the origin of video games came from movies..first u had the movie..then u had the video game..the best atari hits where based on movies..ET..Indiana JOnes. Star wars.. etc.

most succesful video games out there are based on a movie..but the fact is that lucasarts is rejecting the movies and coming out with their own crap

    Must...resist...urge...to...kill....

HomelessJedi, you know why they make the EU games?

    I'll tell you why.

Because they're good games with good stories and fun gameplay.

    Enough said.

A lot of the movie-based games have sucked. Hard. Take the AOTC GBA game, for example. Anakin didn't FIGHT with his saber. He stumbled around like a drunk at a New Year's Eve party.

Though I do share your sentiment about making more movie-based games, there are two things I'd like to say:

    1) Rebel Strike comes out soon, so none of us will have to wait much longer.
    2) Stop bashing the EU. Most of the best games LucasArts has ever made have something to do with it.

It's all Star Wars. You visit a lot of classic locations in the Jedi Knight games, for example. Tatooine, Hoth, Ord Mantell, Coruscant, and Yavin 4.

Kyle Katarn is TEH PWNAGE. Don't ever diss him again or I'll sick the Mandalorians on you. Nah, not really. They're too busy stealing my dad's wallet and car keys. :p

Bashing people solves nothing. But, just so you know, you're better than some other people, who have called anyone who likes the EU a nerd. They promptly got an irritated response from a lot of fans who not only got their ideas attacked, but were personally insulted by him.

I was first in line to bash him, and angriest. That was part of what got me temporarily banned, and I don't want to see that happen again, but I wish to make my feelings known. Please take care what you say.

    >> and you know why all their recent games involve flying ships and shooting things..because they are easier to make!!<<

Or perhaps people actually like that game type? The Starfighter and Rogue Squadron games, along with Clone Wars and Battle For Naboo make up some of my favorite SW games.

    >>we should be able to play luke, han solo, leia..and rescue her from darth vader..i mean who in here wouldnt like that?<<

Rebel Strike in a couple weeks.

    >>why do we always get some unknown guy fighting..like jango<<

Jango wasn't some unknown guy- he was a prominent supporting character with a role in AOTC as large as Yoda's, and had alot of public focus due to his similarities and relationship with Boba Fett. His game gave his backstory so you'd know where he met Dooku, Zam and got Slave 1.

    >>or that guy from shadows<<

Because SOTE was supposed to be split across different mediums to tell the whole story: the novel focused on the main characters, the comic focused on Boba Fett more, and the game focused on Dash's role in the story. SOTE wasn't a game based on a story, it was a seperate set of chapters to a story, thus using Luke, etc would have been redundant.

    >>..or kyle katarn..why is it always someone else?<<

Because it allows them to explore the SW universe in an original manner, instead of regurgitating the events of the films, which can be boring since you know the film's story already. An original character's storyline isn't as restricted and opens up more possibilities.

Otherwise, you end up with Luke, etc doing so much work for the Rebels that it goes beyond reason (how silly would it be if almost every SW game only used the movie characters? Imagine the DF and JK series using Luke, while at the same time he's flying every mission for Rogue Squadron, flying every mission in X-Wing, etc, all in the 4 year timespan of the original trilogy? It's just too much and breaks supension of disbelief.)

    >>im sorry but who wouldnt like to play yoda in AOTC and be fight dooku? AOTC had lots more than just love scenes..<<

And they've made a game based on the most prominent non-love scene sequences from AOTC: the Clone Wars, where you fly at Geonosis and other worlds, cut down droids in the arena and elsewhere on foot with your lightsaber, and play as Yoda (though you don't fight Dooku, granted).

    >>The phantom menace game..was a great game..except fot eh view..but it had the movie feel..<<

It was a so-so game at best. It was rather dull overall and I don't think it had much of a movie feel to it.

    >>also i hear KOTOR is a great game..i just have one question who are those people in the game!!!!<<

New era, new characters. The story for KOTOR could NOT have been done with the movie characters. And an RPG is nothing without a story.

I think what you fail to understand is that most people don't want to play a Star Wars movie, they want to play a game that captures the feel of the SW movies, as that makes it a new and more exciting expierience.

KOTOR was often praised about how it captured the feel of the original SW Trilogy, despite the era differences.

    >>go back and make an ESB game..where u are luke..on hoth..u get on a ship..u fight the at-ats..then u go to dagobah meet yoda..train..then go to bespin and fight darth vader...its so easy.<<

With exception to the Bespin and Vader part, you get to do all of that in Rebel Strike.

Actually, does Rebel Strike not also include a Bespin level for Luke? I've heard that with a degree of certainty attached to it. Also, I've heard other rumors that there are saber duels in RS, but those I'm taking with a rather large helping of salt and my fingers crossed (I want 'em.) But the Luke Bespin level I understand is largely a given. Granted, all of this is rumor, so I can't be sure.

so this means that rebel strike is rebundant..

look..lucasarts had a poll last year before they decided to make rebel strike..they asked who would you rather see in a video game..the poll was not surprising..people wanted to see the main characters, solo, luke, leia..obiwan..etc.
all the other EU charasters were left in the dust..and this is why in rebel strike you get to play them all.

we must all learn from history..people..im not bashing eu at all..i love the comics the books..the stories..but if you look at the most succesful star wars games in history..they are all based on the movies..

    1. star wars arcade. now available in GC. that was the master of all games..people loved it because you got to fly the xwing and blow up the death star..u live the moment.

    2. ESB for atari..the most succesfull star wars game ever..and why..because u got to blow up at-at.
    3. rebel squadron..sucessful..because it was based on the movie!! you had the death star..very close to the movie..
    4. all the supernintedo games..follow the movie..very sucessfull games..

not succesfull games? well SOTE..dark forces..jedi starfighter...both of them!! so what does this tell you? people want to experience the movie! clone wars bombed. and bounty hunter did ok..

rebel strike will be a big seller..because it uses a good combination of movie themes..thats why!! and thats what im asking for..is that too much?

Dark Forces, SOTE, and The Clone Wars hardly bombed.

Why would they re-release The Clone Wars for Xbox if it had?

SOTE sold over a million copies. Look at me for one second and tell me that that's bombage.

As for Dark Forces...without its success, there would have been no Jedi Knight. Or Mysteries of the Sith. Which owned. Or Jedi Outcast. Or Jedi Academy. Honestly, if people don't like the EU, then why has this series made it that far?

I'd like to see this poll of yours.

Both Starfighter games sold VERY well. They wouldn't have done a special edition and a sequel if they hadn't. Also, Jedi Starfighter is hardly EU. Most of it is directly linked to the movies.

People want the feel of SW, definitely, but I don't want the movies regurgitated over and over again. I would've preferred that they did NJO for RS3.

Even so, I have no doubt that Rebel Strike will own all.

    RL=Meh!
So it's my guess that Rebel Strike will equal, Meh! aswell. Ooohh, they added some gimicky ground missions to try and distract us from the fact that were playing the same game. [face_plain]
