True, though i think the dynamic of Imperials vs Imperials we had in Legacy was very unique in itself, a good way to have both would be to have Roan NOT die in the end of Legacy: War, and have a sequel series that deals with the GA Remnant, the Jedi and Imperial Knights facing a corrupt Roan Fel that is revealed to have fallen to the Dark Side during the previous war.

    A bunch of Luceno novels:

Star Wars: Snoke. Give Snoke the Plagueis treatment. @Sinrebirth

A novel about Darth Tenebrous. Reveal who was behind the droid being programmed to assasinate him.

    The long-awaited Dooku novel.

A novel about what Sidious was planning in the Sith shrine beneath the Jedi Temple. Luceno said he wanted to write this.

I honestly don't want Luceno to write a Snoke book I'd rather have one of the authors who seems more in tune to NuCanon like Claudia Gray or Charles Soule to do it

    I would like those novels/comics:

    - Something about Delta Squad in canon
    - Plagueis with some connections to TROS
    - Please give me a story with Coruscant after TROS (pretty much the stuff from Duel of Fates).

What's wrong with Luceno on that front? If anything, the kind of book people are suggesting he should write is entirely up his alley given his prior published works for Star Wars, canon or otherwise.

Posted this already in another thread:

"By the way, what about a short story anthology about Coruscant. Something like Coruscant throughout the ages? From prehistory to the time of the ST and beyond.

Can't say how much i would looove to read something like that."

I'd legitimately love a short story about him and Oppo Rancisis arguing over the best tactics for the Battle of Geonosis,

I think Luminara deserves a novel starting with her learning of Barriss' betrayal, and leading up to Order 66 with some flashbacks throughout that hint at Barriss' gradual downfall. We never see Luminara's reaction in TCW, she just becomes an extra after Season 2. Having her interact with Quinlan Vos (who is not kicked out of the Jedi Order despite his betrayals) during the Battle of Kashyyyk would be very interesting.

Her story after that will hopefully be told in Bad Batch.

Could even use mythological parallels - have Luminara attempting to reconnect with Barriss be a sort of attempt to re-center herself as well, like the Triple Goddess figure of the Mother (Luminara), the Maiden (Barriss), and the Crone (Luminara's master? Cyslin Myr?). A bit different, but Star Wars loves its myth parallels, and it would be a way of exploring how the Jedi have changed from one generation to the next.

The Jedi Younglings from TCW need to appear in The Bad Batch show as Order 66 survivors hunted down.

It could tie in nicely to some Legends lore about a group of Jedi survivors including children hiding in Plett's Well on Belsavis.

Also I hope future stories like Bad Batch will not resort to the typical villains like Tarkin, Vader, Emperor, etc. but instead use the variety of underused Imperial ranks as big bads. Like the Fancy Hat Crew of Imperial Advisors and Ruling Councilers, the High Procurator of Justice, etc. kinda like comics elevate Palpatines umbaran aide to badass bosslevel enemy status.

After TCW showing war in all facettes, I wonder if The Bad Batch will make use of post war trauma, oppression, muddy victories and propaganda as victors write the history books, etc. and all that complete with deportations, genocides and all like war criminal trials. So much they could homage there. But it would be a darker take than TCW with a spice of Rogue One's grim feels (or Cassians show will keep that feeling and leave Bad Batch fore more lighter entertainment?).

    • I want a book SERIES about the inquisitors. It is about time they became more then "not quite ready for sith lord" baddies.
    • I've always thought a book about how the Rebel Alliance got it's ships and equipment would be cool. Call it REBEL QUARTERMASTER. Could see shady deals with pirates and dark corporations. Maybe a robbery of a weapons depot. Take the premise from Solo and the hyperfuel as a branching off point.
    • A book about the holonet. It's funny, when Star Wars started, so much technology was ahead of us, but it feels like in the last 40 years, the nature of the holonet has fallen well behind the real world internet in terms of utility and influence. I would like to see someone take the idea of Star Wars Cyberspace and go NUTS with it. Think Ghost in the Shell meets the Force. GO!

I've read that the general brief for designers and creatives on Star Wars is that aesthetics and functionality should ever go past the '80s, and that's pretty observably true in the onscreen stuff. For that reason I have always assumed that the Holonet was basically just pre-cable "network TV" in holographic form. News and mass entertainment, with local interest variations mixed in by affiliates in local systems. I see what you're getting at, but adding too much modern or "cyberpunk" tech into Star Wars is always going to invite questions about why it's not there in older material -- like, even something on the level of wi-fi raises questions.

    From Catalyst by James Luceno:
I would like to see this reference elaborated on. Have Has piloting a group of older Jedi of like Yarael Poof, Cyslin Myr, maybe Rael Aveross, on some missions between Episodes I and II which flesh out this time period in canon, and illustrates how the Jedi Order of the High Republic has changed to become that of Dooku's generation, then Qui-Gon's, then Obi-Wan's. This would be an uncertain time for the Jedi, on the edge of galactic conflict, knowing the Sith survived but no idea where they are hiding, I doubt the Order sat quietly for ten years waiting.

Ah, but if you progress the story line forward, instead of endlessly retreading the Imperial and GCW era, then you can easily make this happen.

    But even if you don't...

Hyperspace and the Holonet, in and of themselves are vast and rather under-detailed elements we got right out of the 80s, and how they are fleshed out can still be done with attention to aesthetics.

A great example is the slicers...something that appeared to be about to become a major part of the EU before the prequels came in and drown us in Jedi plots. Slicers cracking into Intergalactic Banking Networks, or rerouting goods shipments for pirates, or threatening the good order of the universe by disrupting comms...any of it could be done while respecting what came before.

I think the most significant "modern splash" that would stick out, and thus is avoided, is the social media aspect of our world...Star Wars has not had a universe of people jacked into the holonet just to exist there...but...it does provide for interesting story ground if they could offer it up as some kind of breakthrough...heck...it could be the monumental McGuffin around which a post ST could be built. You keep certain cues from the style of star wars...you keep hazy blue holo transmittions...you keep wall panel computer terminals...but you introduce a planet where people have went to sleep and woke up in the machine, and the Jedi have to figure out how to free them...etc.

It can be done...they just have to respect the franchise while adding a flavor. It is how you grow the universe.

The main characters in Star Wars largely appear in their own bubbles, outside of mass media/entertainment, but it's clearly there in the universe. There is the sludgenews: "A minor evil found in many heavily populated worlds, especially in the Corporate Sector. News on which celebrities are in love this week, complete with holos recorded by people who sneaked onto their estates and then escaped again. Revalations on how the shapes of nebulae determine your fate. Stories about women who claim to have bourne a son to Emperor Palpatine. Stories that there never was a New Republic/Imperial war; that it was all cooked up to foster wartime productivity and profit the starfighter manufacturers. Stories that Darth Vader is still alive and about to lead a revolt to reinstitute the Empire. That sort of thing." (Tycho, in Starfighters of Adumar)

I don't think it's too much of a stetch to have social media in Star Wars. The Jedi probably don't have much to do with it - they don't interact with the mass population much anyway. Soldiers in the field may have access denied or limited. The sheer distances between planetary systems could mean that the quick interaction of social media happen at a local level - local being a single planet, or a group within one star system. The limitations of the technology don't allow for a galaxy-wide reach of SpaceTwitter - just CorelliaTwitter/ CorusantTwitter etc.

It's there, in a way. Per the Servants of the Empire series and the Last Jedi Visual Dictionary, individuals and organizations can have "public network nodes" that serve as contact points and may serve other purposes (the Master Codebreaker, for example, uses his to store the encrypted data about his true identity, inviting others to try to slice it). It's not too much of a stretch to imagine those nodes might serve the kind of purposes that social media serves for us.

Maybe there was a range of dark jedi and become a threath almost as big as the sith. I love a story about that 300 years before the high republic. When the galaxy according to that one jedi, it was pretty mutch a dark time for the jedi and the republic.

I did suspect that (in Legends), the Sith made a move in 500 BBY as it was quite messy (Corellia seceding, Corporate issues), and it works for me.

Speaking of the Citadel, I have a feeling that at the start of the Clone Wars Dooku liberated Cenevax and commandeered her network of contacts for the Sith Grand Plan. At very least I would like to see a full story about her cause the criminal overlord that successfully managed to infiltrate the Jedi Council definitely has more tales to tell.
