KotOR 1 was definitely harder. I breezed through most of KotOR 2 on my first try as a Sentinel/Weapons Masters (yes, very disorganized) and I still found the final boss to be not that much of a challenge.

I've been going back and playing KOTOR recently (just found the first Star Forge map on Dantooine). KOTOR is harder than KOTOR II. I can't even beat the Mandalorian boss and his thugs on Dantooine right now. I'm going to have to leave Dantooine and level up some more before I go back to deal with him. I'm also strapped for credits and gear too (I'm obviously playing light side). In KOTOR II, once you get going it's pretty easy. Even playing light side I had tons of credits to buy stuff (I'd have more crap in my inventory than I knew what to do with). Other than a couple boss battles KOTOR II was pretty easy. The 3 Sith in the tomb on Dxun were a bit of a pain because the Exile isn't in that fight and Kreia at the end because it takes forever to destroy the floating lightsabers.

Malak's not so hard if you destroy the capsules holding the Jedi first so Malak can't re-charge. The hardest part of the Star Forge was just getting TO Malak through the endless waves of lackeys. I like KOTOR II's inventory system better, more options for customization but the story was crap. It could have been great but there was waay too much cut content and the ending wasn't even an ending.

Generally, when I'm soldier class, I level up as much as I can before getting to be a Jedi Guardian. I do this to gain the extra feats. Also, as a guardian, I don't use force that much. If I'm playing as a Scout/Scoundrel, I'll go to level four, and not level up again until I become a Jedi.

Yeah really eh?! Kreia's telling you everything and the whole time I was just thinking "Wow, the developers decided to save a bit of money but just having the ending be a vague script.

I found KOTOR harder, but then again I started playing it like Diablo. Wasn't until well into the game I took advantage of the turn based system.

KOTOR 1 is indeed harder then number two because you had to many creatures and solve many puzzles in the quest to find the story of Malak and Reven and to decide towards the end to either kill of your strongest characters or finish the fight with but knowing me i just killed them off because im always on the dark side on the KOTOR's and cannot wait to see if number three is to be officalely announced

Check out the KOTOR III thread, you may be in luck.

Did anyone find the first level of KOTOR II a lot longer than in KOTOR? I was playing with my cousin and we were running all over Peragus for ages before we gave up and went on the Net to find the way out. Everything on that station looked the same.

they are both easy for me. i never die because i know how to play it. to avoid dying by the rhakghouls continue using medpacks and the same goes for the sith govenor.

darth malak is difficult it takes patience throw your saber at the dying jedi to weaken him then continue throwing your saber at him i killed him after six hits.

kotor 2 was way too easy darth nihilus was so weak and foolish and easy to beat.

Peragus was challenging if you, like me, didn't pay attention to the journal. The main problem was that it was deserted with the exception of Atton, Kreia, and HK-50. This meant that half the time you didn't know where you were going or what you were doing. That threw me off completely as I spent hours on end trying to figure out what I was doing.

Now I've got it in a few steps.

    1) Meet Kreia and Atton
    2) Clear out the Mining Tunnels
    3) Meet HK-50 and find the airlock

At this point, you find out that force fields in the Fuel Depot are holding you from entering the Hangar. When the Harbinger arrives, you can see that the Harbinger connects to the Admin Level and the fuel pipe connect to the other side of the Fuel Depot. You can use this to go around the force fields.

    4) Clear Dormitories
    5) Undo the Lockdown and re-enter the Administration level

Now you have to figure a to the Hanger. The Harbinger is where you need to go.

    6) Fight HK-50
    7) Clear the Harbinger
    8) Get to the Hanger
    9) Get to the ship

Figuring all this out on my own took forever. Add the fact that you were alone a majority of the time and it was deserted made Peragus boring.

Taris may have had more to be done, but you always knew what you were doing and where you were going.

And there were the side quests on Taris which made it all the more amusing. The bounties, duelling, pazzak etc.

I liked the Peragus journey because it almost reminded me of Alien the way everything is so vast and quiet in the middle of nowhere in space. Except there wasn't the excitement of an unstoppable alien killing me and my crew one by one.

I remember the first time I played KOTOR II, and when Sion's ship boards for "fuel" I started flipping out. I got that chill down my spine that you get when playing a new game, the whole time I thought I could run into him down any hallway or behind any door.

Took me four hours to finish Peragus, and I rushed through the last hour or so because I was just getting so sick of the place.

KotOR gave me more of a challenge, but that was the first RPG type game I had played. When I eventually go and replay it, I'm sure it will be easier, at least control wise. Although, the last level on the Star Forge took forever. After spending about 45 minutes on Malak alone (plus the hour it took just to get to him, though that was more of an endurance exercise than actual difficulty), I just used the strength upgrade cheat to breeze through the fight in under 30 seconds. After attempting the puzzle on Manaan for about 20 minutes, I just blew the thing up out of frustration. (Bacta is superior to kolto anyways...hehe)

KotOR II was easier, but I still found it fairly challenging. It's been a while since I finished it, and no part is standing out more than the bit on the Star Forge and Manaan in the first one, so I guess it wasn't that bad (except Peragus, as I said before).

I also liked having those puzzles in KOTOR like the kolto one. They made you use all your math skills.

Frankly I didn't like the way KOTOR II brought up the Revan issue. It just kinda like

"What did you hear it was?"
    then you state your answer
    "Oh ok, well anyway...."

Which is pretty much the sound of the Obsidian developers thinking they tricked us into not being angry at them, because technically the ending of the last game was in the beginning. It's too bad it was never brought up again, or had any impact on the actual game itself.

I think that the second one was harder as one of the other poster's mentioned before me you go through half the game without your trusty blade. I remember the one level where you have to penetrate this bunker thing and I kept dying. That sucked.

That was what made KOTOR II harder for me in a sense. Sure, it didn't have the aggrivating puzzles that presented a challenge, instead they just really made you work for the lightsaber. I liked it better in KOTOR II when right after your done Taris you get to construct a lightsaber on Dantooine. I remember playing KOTORII thinking "wow, aren't we supposed to be Jedi and using the force?!" Yet I was using a vibroblade throughout more than half of the game.
