"Oh, well. Can't like every movie I guess. . ."

See, this is what i mean. So Green Goblin isn't your traditional villain. Whats wrong with a villain that just wants to cause a little mayhem, and doesn't have some rediculous plot for taking over the world? Whats wrong with a villain you don't actually hate, because madness is an illness and he only wants to strike back at the city? These are the undertones your all failing to see. Your supposed to sympathise a little with Norman, because hes a victim of his own success. The ultimate form of someone who has went mad with power.

Don't you guys get the GREAT dramatic irony at the end, were Peter realises the Goblin is Norman Osborn, his best friends father?? A few seconds before, you could have said Spidey truely hated the Green Goblin, but how can he hate him in that moment? Don't you get it? Spider-Man didn't truely win, his best friends father died!

He looks like he's flying around on a boogie board. [face_plain] :D

Why are the people who can't help turning into villians always green? Grenn Goblin, the Hulk.... ?[face_plain]

I thought GG was an exellent choice for the villain in the first one. Venom and/or Carnage could be in the third one.

Rather than say GG was 'sucky' (heh, nice term :p) I'd turn my criticism toward Spidey. Can somebody please please tell me how a collage kid with no job can afford to have that suit. And after the end battle, the suit was repaired! What....he had spares too????

At least GG, he's rich, he can damn well design whatever things he wants, have the bucks to construct them, and he probably killed the people who helped him with all the designs just to be safe! [face_mischief] Same with Batman (except for the killing part...or then again who knows how Bruce protects his indentity [face_mischief])

And thank goodness the movie director had the webbing to be organic. If they followed the comics, again where the heck would he get the resources to make sophisticated (and costly) stuff like that. That's why I never been a fan of Spidey comics...heck, it's pretty hard for me to be a fan of non-Batman comics.

    :p

Why exactly do you think Venom and Carnage are lame?

Because Venom was made out to be pure evil, though his only motivation was that Peter Parker was a better photographer than him. He was a cold blooded killer. Then, he went from that, to becoming some sort of hero! And the only reason Carnage exists is so he can be the old Venom, only even more powerful than Venom, and Venom is even more powerful than Spidey. Lame. Unimaginative. Crap. Some of the worst Spidey storylines in history have involved Carnage and Venom.

This isn't directed towards anyone and may be a little off the subject, but I always think that it's funny when people assume that certain actions aren't believable....just because they wouldn't act in that manner. I've never beaten anyone to a bloody pulp with the intentions of using thier skin as a mask, nor do I know anyone who has done that, but it doesn't mean that there isn't some insane sicko out there who takes pleasure in that.

I doubt I'd ever be compelled to wear a green goblin suit, murder the people I work with, and start a rivalry with a prominent figure in my city, just because business is not going as well as planned....but it doesn't mean that there isn't some insane sicko out there who takes pleasure in that.

Because Venom was made out to be pure evil, though his only motivation was that Peter Parker was a better photographer than him.

No. It had nothing to do with Peter being a photographer. Eddie Brock (Venom) was a reporter, not a photographer. During the Sin-Eater saga, Brock made his name as a journalist with an expose of the Sin-Eater's true identity. Spidey then revealed who Sin-Eater actually was. Brock was shamed and the Daily Globe kicked him out.

Spider-Man's alien costume (which he picked up from Secret Wars) was rejected by Spidey, and it bonded with Brock after repeated attempts to get back with Peter. The combined hatred of Brock and the costume for Spidey produced Venom.

He was a cold blooded killer. Then, he went from that, to becoming some sort of hero!

He was always a "protector of the innocent". He didn't kill for no reason. He was only after Peter. (Although he did kill the odd prison guard here and there while escaping.)

And the only reason Carnage exists is so he can be the old Venom, only even more powerful than Venom, and Venom is even more powerful than Spidey. Lame. Unimaginative. Crap.

Carnage was introduced before Venom became a "hero".

Some of the worst Spidey storylines in history have involved Carnage and Venom.

Although they have both been over-used, Carnage and Venom have both been in excellent stories as well as bad ones. The good easily outweigh the bad.

Carnage friggin' kicks butt! Maximum Carnage, baby! :D

And, as for the Green Goblin thing being unbelievable...uh, ever hear of military innovation? I'm sure France didn't believe it when Hitler employed planes in WWII, either.

And, what the heck were they thinking? A chunk of metal that could dive under water and take out ships without being seen? No way. That's too fake to believe. [face_plain]

Military innovation is always unbelievable. But that doesn't mean that we haven't seen it happen in reality. WWII left us with plenty of seemingly impossible military innovations. :)

Just thought I'd mention that the whole military thing was only in the film, not in the original comics. It was brought into it to speed up GG's origin story.

But, what I don't get is why they'd want to genetically enhance spiders...

And, if the spider that bit Pete is still alive (I forgot if it died in the novelization), then there could be another Spider-Man born!

Why they'd want to enhance spiders? Good question. No idea. In the comics, it became irradiated by accident and died as it bit Peter.

What happened to the spider in the film? No idea.

What would've been funny in the film is: Peter goes to the lab, gets bitten by a radioactive spider, dies of radiation sickness. End of story. Short film. No sequel.

Well IRL spider webbing is being used for all sorts of research. They are even making bullet proof vests out of it.

I always assumed these geneticaly enhanced spiders would some how relate to that. ?[face_plain]

[face_plain] How was the X-men movie suck? How does the director suck? I DISAGREE! Bryan Singer made X-men MUCH MUCH serious than Spider-Man's sillyness!!! [face_plain]

Thats the point. It was far too serious. Spider-Man gave us what we needed, some comic relief.

There AIN'T Nothing wrong with a movie being seriousness! [face_mischief]

Besides, it HAS Humor, Sarcastic ones from Logan. like "You are a D**k"... "What they call you, wheels"

Scott Summer (Cyclops): "If I told you that (Stay away from my girl), then she wouldn't be my girl."

I thought the Green Goblin sucked. He looked and acted like something straight out of The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.

If TPM or AOTC had a villain that cheesy, people and critics would have crucified Lucas for it.

You all have to copy that power rangeras comment, don't ya? 0 points for originality. Try thinking for yourself. Why didn't the critics bash the villain then, huh? If they would have bashed George Lucas, why didn't they bash Sam Raimi? I'll tell you why. Guys like you are just trying to think of ways that Star Wars is better, thats why you keep bringing Lucas into it, and saying things that have been said by a million other copy cat cant't-think-for-themselves guys. How the heck does he look like a power ranger?

What are you talking about: BTW, An Amazing trailer for X-men 2 was just showed at Comic-Con last week.

Here is the trailers Descriptions. ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS WARNING***

    - The first cut in the clip showed an extended conversation with Magneto and Xavier in the plastic box that looks like it continued at the exact end of the first flick.

Magneto: "Does it keep you awake at night? The feeling that someday they will pass that foolish law and come for you and your children."
    Xavier: "It does indeed..."

    - Then we see a barrage of fast cuts of the "School For The Gifted" being invaded by some type of government agency at night. The kids in the institute are scared and hiding from the invasion.

    - Then it cuts back to the Professor X / Magneto conversation: "I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul who comes to that school looking for trouble."

    - Then we see Wolverine running down a hallway (looks like he just got out of bed) wearing a tank top wear it looks like he is going to do a running punch of sorts, but then his claws appear and he swings with full force and screams at the top of his lungs.

    - We then see a ton of cuts of a bunch of action involving Wolverine, the army types, some helicopters, Pyro blowing up a car, Yuriko, and the "School For The Gifted".

    - Cut back to Magneto in the prison: "You should have killed me when you had the chance!!!"

    - Cut back to the fast cuts of Rogue and Cyclops in some underground something, Wolverine searching, and then finally the X2 logo...coming soon.

    - Then right at the end you see Xavier and he says: "Eric... What have you done?" then a very pissed off Wolverine comes at the camera and swipes EXTREMELY hard 3 times and then cut to black.

Extremely amazing stuff, especially considering the small amount of production that has occurred. Brain Singer is definitely a force to be reckoned with!
