With regards to the Killiks, let me say this: I really do hope that somewhere in the UR they find the Protoss and get what's coming to them. And then the Mandalorians show up in Battlecruisers and break out their flamethrowers. Once battle commences they will spit out the same one-liner over and over again as the insects are crushed.

Edit: So yes, you might very well say I hate them.

"Mon Calamari cannibalism," or "Another way the Japanese conserve resources"...you decide.

I choose "Japanese Cannibals Eating Mon Calamari Resources" for $500, Alex.

Calamari sushi. Not bad. Or Killik carapaces sautéed, just so.

But I feel that young Ewok fresh off a Gonk-droid Hibachi is best. I'd also like to try the pork from the razorback the Ewoks used in trapping the Wookiee and his friends, too. That might be pretty good, though it could be a little tough. I bet the Land Striders from The Dark Crystal would be delicious, albeit perhaps a bit gamey.

It doesn't really matter, it all tastes good fresh off a Gonk. That's all he's really good for, anyhow.

(The Porkinites are really the ones to ask about these serious issues.)

I have to agree. I've been intrigued by Killiks since the Illustrated Star Wars Universe back in the mid-nineties. The Massassii also disappeared, but are they going to suddenly reemerge in an upcoming book too? That would cheapen it.

There is too much methane in them.

No wonder i had trouble digesting that last one.....

I think the killiks should impeach UnuThul. He made them go from anonymous exploitable workers to the most annoying denizens of the galaxy since the gungans.

"All we know is that there's still no contact with the colony and that a xenomorph may be involved."
    "A what?"
    "It's a bug-hunt."

I'm just miffed that it seems that every SF story seems to eventually involve giant bugs. It's a staple. Why they couldn't have an original idea like a gigantic extradimensional life-sucking slime mold orbiting a strange astrophysical phenomenon is beyond me--

    Oh. Wait.

(For the record, the latter is also the one EU novel that I REFUSE TO MENTION BY ITS ACTUAL TITLE.)

The killiks are like the buggers from the ender series. Except stupider.

    Who hates the Killik?

    Ummm, not me?
Unlike some people, I enjoy the fact that we have something new and nifty. I was convined I'd hate this stupid Trekkie bug-hive-mind crap going in, but Denning has pulled it off so well that I have no out-of-universe dislike for them at all. In-universe, do I want to see the Chiss make Killik paste? Yes. But I like them as story elements, and don't think they come off as too strange or cheapen anything.

    Aren't they just Borg bugs?

I wonder if they run when you switch on the light.

    Didn't notice this till now . . .

What, y'all prefer hornets or kittins? Bugs bring out a person's natural aversion better than other critters, except for the kids who have large pet roaches the way normal citizens have dogs. Why are you worried about cliche bugs? You have no right to complain; most of SW is cliche by the score of books! :D

My only problem is with the forced assmilation of the "Joiners". "Puppets" would be a more apt term.

Either the Jedi are able to de-Join the Joiners or they force the Killiks themselves to do so.
Should the Killiks refuse this, the whole damn roach motel gets wiped out. Or they van be shipped to ZS and the vong can be driven buggy.

I really don't care for the Killik... they hold no appeal for me whatsoever from a story standpoint.

Is the question meant as whether we enjoy reading about the killiks or if they are someone who we would be best buddies with if they actually existed?

I enjoy reading about them, and besides another dose of cliché species-wide Telepathy, I think they make interesting and well thought-out villains.

I'd vape them just as much as Han would if confronted with one though

I think the Killiks would best be served dead, yes.

But I think this entire trilogy was badly written, especially since I noticed Luke doesn't once ask R2 how and why he has holos of Padme and Anakin.

I dont remember what page it was in TJK that Han mentioned his bug adversion, but If I remember correctly it was due to a different speices of bug that chased/tortured him when he was a smuggler.

Right, but the way Denning writes it makes me think he's making reference to some other EU material. It sounds Marvelly but I don't know what story it is :(

Yea, I dont know what in the EU Denning is taking Han's bug troubles from but maybe I can find what book or comic its from by checking The New Essential Chronology I picked up yesterday. Ill check back with you Morticia ;)when I find out where it came from. Til then, we AOR sithbunnies must continue assisting Revan with the Carth plushies...:D
