[face_thinking] Who in the name of the galactic senate is taller? [face_thinking]

I don't know but I sense Yoda is taller. But I know R5-D4 is taller than Artoo by just one centimeter.

Really? Yoda looks pretty small in RotS, and then whenever I see an R2 unit in real life, they look bigger than expected.

If R5-D4 is taller than R2 by a centimeter, then he is the tallest since R2 is taller than Yoda. R5->R2->Yoda.

    What about R4-P17?

The unsung hero of the prequels?

He's just abandoned by Obi-Wan in AOTC, left there on his own, crying! ANd then he bitesn it in ROTS! He's a hero, truly!

Didn't Yoda hide inside an astromech droid in Dark Rendevous? It was an R2 model IIRC. I think this would imply that Yoda is smaller than both R2 and R5.

I thought the droid in ROTS was a different one.

R4-P17 was a female astromech and here's an interesting fact had two differnt concepts that were cut from AOTC. In one she's beaten to death by Genosioans after Obi is captured while in the other cut concept she was chained to a fourth piller in the arena.

Pfft, she couldv'e broken loose and kicked all those beasts @$$'. I'm pretty sure it's the same droid in ROTS. It just....loses it's head in the heat of battle.

R4-P17 is the droid in the Battle of Coruscant who loses her head to the buzz droids. Obi-Wan is given a replacement, R4-G9, to travel to Utapau.

The OS lists Yoda as .66 metre high, R2-D2 as .96 metre high and R5-D4 as .97 metre high.

    R5-D4 WINS!

If one watches ESB carefully, they could see that Yoda is quite shorter than R2. Also, we have been otherwise informed that all astromech bodies are the same height, just with different 'heads'. R5's flowerpot beats out R2's dome by a centimeter.

yeah, R2 is significantly taller. I think we often take Yoda for granted and forget how small he really is... I mean... The guy is tiny. Think of it this way: Kenny Baker fit into R2, but Yoda was a big puppet. Even midgets are bigger than puppets.

Does this mean Skippy the Jedi Droid is greater in force potential or just stature, than Yoda? ;)

Nobody claimed R5-D4 was a Jedi... we're talking about Skippy the Jedi Droid, which is just a tad bit different, my good man. ;)

Actually, I believe it is. At this point, anything that is not directly contradictory to a canon source is considered canon. And any elements of a story that are contradictory are tossed out to let the rest of the story remain in canon. And I repeat, canon canon canon CANON... there's only one "n." *breathes for a moment*

Also, the Skippy thing was (I think) actually referenced in an article dealing with Droids and the Force (I believe it was a Pena article) that, as it happens, has its very own thread that is, in a stroke of good timing, present on the first page right now!

Many fans will tell you that it's impossible to tell, because the visuals are mere interpretations of what could've been and are therefore entirely mutable and subject to any interpretation, no matter how outlandish. These same fans would argue that no real-world measurements can be applied to anything in a fictitious universe, and so you are wasting your time by trying. They would tell you that your question is thus entirely dependent on points of view (apparently oblivious to the fact that the movies themselves [and the EU] PRESENT A GIVEN point of view that is almost entirely self-consistent).

I am not one of those fans.

Abel's article can be only found on Hyperspace, I'm afraid. IIRC, its in one of the Insider suppliments.
