Mustafar just had to many variables........Personally I think Obi Wan wouldve handed it to Mace on Mustafar....Only the most agile characters would be able to fight on a terrain like that

Sooooooo what exactly WAS Mace supposed to do with Anakin.....considering he HAS to hold a lightsaber over Sidious to keep him down.....

Mace sensed that Anakin was confused.....thats why he didn't take him along in the first place, but if you recall in the novel.....their exchange is more civil. In fact Mace mentions that Anakin doesn't look well from his lack of sleep....and Anakin can barely stand in front of Mace from his exhaustion.

Mace has no reason to expect that Anakin is being any different than his normal reckless self when he rushes into the room.

Plug Yoda or Kenobi into that exact same situation and the results are the same.

Anakin could've beat Sidious in ROTS. If they fought in Palpys office when they could have, Anakin could definitly have taken him. Anakin wasn't using the dark side at that point, and he was very focused. A fully focused Anakin can beat just about anyone. Yea that's right I said it, If Anakin is focused like he was against Dooku he could take just about anyone(save maybe Yoda, not sure about that one). Also as other people have mentioned the atmosphere was a lot different than it was on Mustafar, and there wouldn't be any extra factors working to Sidious' benefit.

And I'll say this again, Yoda never says Obi-Wan is strong enough to face Anakin. Yoda knows Obi-Wan will never be able to live with himself if he doesn't confront him.

 

If Anakin is focused like he was against Dooku he could take just about anyone(save maybe Yoda, not sure about that one).


focused or not he was weaker than sidious.so you say he could beat sidious but not yoda when in fact sidious beated yoda ?? thats a weird point of view my friend.


GL already said that only mace and yoda are capable compete with sidious,if you dont want to believe Goerge Lucas (who in fact MADE the movies)thats your problem then...

 

Who says he was weaker than Sidious? It was Anakins destiny to destroy Sidious, he was more than capable enough to do it.

Sidious was lucky that the fight didn't continue. Sidious had his most powerful and reliable force lightning sent back at him. He was clearly IN PAIN when Yoda shot it back at him with his HANDS.

As for the Lucas quote, you must not have read the whole thing. Lucas also said "If Anakin hadn't got all beat up, he could've beat the Emperor." So just like Anakin said he would have "overthrown" the Chancellor if he had gotten off Mustafar.

 

Supposedly Palpatine is the fastest duelest out of anyone, including Yoda and Mace. It was recited in the webdoc of Sir Ian becoming Darth Sidious, I don't remember the line per-say but it was something that he (Palpatine) goes 500 times the speed of any jedi in all the films*Yes I am including the OT*

 

It was just his point of view, and it's evidently wrong. If he had simply said that Palpatine is the fastest one, we could have given him some credit. But "500 times faster" is just ridiculous. I think Palpatine is maybe 5 times faster than Mace's posse.

 

Yea, saying your 500 times faster than everyone else kinda makes it obvious that your just trying to hype your character.

Luke is ... Unknown, great potential but less than Anakin.

i agree with you on this but you are missing the point.i also know that anakin could have eventually kill sids,lets say unsuited vader fights sidious 5 years or 10 years post ROTS,i agree with you that he would completely own palpatine,but in ROTS timeline ??? not a chance,when he says he is more powerfull than palpatine and that he can overthrow him that doesnt mean is true,it sounds more like arrogance to me..

 

Hmm maybe, but in the ROTS game in the alternate ending it does show Anakin killing Sidious after the duel.

I would have liked to see Anakin fight someone other than Obi-Wan when he was dark side. I don't think people get that Obi-Wan trained Anakin and he had the extra advantage of knowing all his moves. Even with that knowledge I still think it was clear Anakin had the upper hand, but you have to remember nobody would have that extra advantage. The way Anakin handled Dooku, and the way he was killing 3 Jedi at once in the Jedi Temple holorecording, leads me to believe that Anakin was strong enough to take Palps. (Not to mention all the quotes of him being the most powerful Jedi)
