Alright, I am sure this isn't the first time this has been posted but I am just interested to see everyone's opinion on who is the most powerful Star Wars Character. It can be anyone. EU included. Doesn't necessarily have to be a force sensitive but I would say in most cases it will be. To rephrase the question; if there was a Galactic war in which every Star Wars character was part of who would come out on top. Feel free to list final battles too.

My personal opinion is Anakin Skywalker. Although Luke would be an obvious choice and both have an extremely high Force potential if Anakin wouldn't have became corrupted by the Dark Side I believe he would have eventually became more powerful than Luke ever dreamed of. But I would say Luke for the second.

This question is a little too vague, in my opinion. How are you defining power?

Well I kinda wanted the question to be a little open ended. Lets just say there was a galactic war and it was every man for himself, and each character uses their own abilities to the best they can. (not restricted to any certain time.) Who would be the last man standing. If you feel like this is still to vague then just tell me who you think the most powerful jedi/sith is.
Thanks. I will make a more specific one later. I am kinda new to this site.

Anakin was too moody and reckless, he would have turned to the dark side anyway.

I think Obi-Wan[in his prime anyway] would have turned out, at least, to be one of the last standing because he was wise and not that close to falling to the dark side as Anakin was. He was also strong, quick, and witty, which helped him defeat an almost undefeatable foe, General Grevious.

In terms of Force power, it's canonically Luke. But that's not the only way to say "most powerful".

hmm I would say Jacen Solo...
I read somewhere in LotF he was the second most powerful jedi, Luke being first. But he was also very good at decieving and manipulating people. Plus, he can make himself 'invisible' ^_____^

I'm gonna have to go with Darth Revan. He was one of the most brilliant strategists and the most powerful force wielder in his time. Plus, he became evil in order to save the galaxy from the true Sith.

It must be Anakin/Vader, he was prophesised to be the greatest.

Even as a crippled mostly artificial Sith Lord he still had force powers that dwarfed your average Jedi (IMO The Emperor only stayed alive because of his lightning, in a force fight without lightning Vader would beat him). I shudder to think the powers he would've commanded had he gone Sith without severe injuries, I think he could've had planet-crushing power.

Other then that I'd say maybe Darth Revan, he was a grey Jedi for much of his life and commanded both sides of the force equally well. He also had great lightsaber ability.

Power in the force is not the same as who would win if all Sith and Jedi did a free for all. The greatest, most powerful Jedi was Anakin as a Force Ghost, but he could not effect the material world. In all likely-hood, Darth Sidious was the most destructive individual, he could blow Jedi apart from their lightsabers with Force Lightning alone. Galen Marek was a very dangerous Force-wielder as well, he could use certain techniques in the force for combat very efficiently with unmatched skill.

But the thing is, it was never shown on film. Sure, it was talked about a lot, but I see no evidence in Attack Of The Clones or Revenge Of The Sith to suggest that Anakin was some sort of uber-Jedi that was unstoppable. He seemed pretty weak in both duels against Count Dooku and was evenly matched with Obi-Wan for most of the time in the duel in Mustafar. He seemed pretty average in the PT, to me.

As a Force Ghost he had all of the power he could have ever hoped to achieve as a Jedi Master with his Midichlorian Count. Though a Force Ghost can only be seen or heard if that.

Anakin was actually more skilled with the lightsaber than both Obi-Wan and Count Dooku in ROTS, but Obi-Wan's knowledge of Anakin and his abilities as both a general of the Republic Army and in the practice of Sokan, as well as the sheer number of lightsaber duels he had fought prior to the battle, ensured his victory against Anakin before the fight even began.

It was Anakin's over-confidence that lost him the fight.

And forms have a big part in a lot of duel outcomes. By my understanding Dooku's Form II is superior to both Obi Wan and Anakin's saber forms, hence why he was able to defeat them both intially.
Anakin won with his Form V second time around when it's defence-crushing assault power was increased by his rage, thus rendering Dooku's technically superior moves obsolete to sheer power.

It was stated that "Lord Vader will become more powerful then either of us". This tells me that, had he not needed the life support suit, Anakin/Vader would've commanded power beyond those of the two most powerful guys at the time.

And power is different to who bests who with skill in duels.

Kyle Katarn. The luckiest Jedi ever. Not to mention made of pure win. You need a lot of luck and win to come out of a free for all alive. :p

Galen Marek beats any previously posted Force Wielder, Soldier and Droid listed as a candidate thus far.

He had more experience and training in combat than EVERYONE else EVER if you include the non-canon Star Wars: Force Unleashed: The Ultimate Sith. All his training since he was a small child was dedicated to combat and nothing besides.

LIST OF JEDI/SITH DEFEATED BY GALEN MAREK:

    Rahm Kota
    Kazdan Paradus
    Shaak Ti
    Maris Brood
    Darth Vader
    Obi-Wan Kenobi
    Luke Skywalker

And these Jedi and Sith were but a fraction of the opponents he fougbht, he killed some of these Jedi while fighting other creatures simultaneously, he was bred to kill.

Anakin had a higher force potential than Luke because he was spawned via the cell division of a human egg and midichlorians.
This is what Darth Sidious said to Anakin in the original script of Episode III, after he made up the story of Darth Plageous I might add.

Where as Luke and Leia were concieved the old fashioned way (No elaboration needed).

Which of course is the best way ;)

I still think that had Anakin become Darth Vader and never needed his suit that he could've bested Galen. Anakin is pure force, he was conceived from it (it's truely biblical). To a certain extent you could say he is a physical manifestation of the force.

Galen was powerful, but like Luke he was concieved by two people one or both of whom may have been a Jedi. I would think you get less force potential with one powerful jedi parent and one non-Jedi then you do from two Jedi parents.

Ok Schmi was Anakin's mother and a non-Jedi, but she was simply a carrier.

Maybe if Anakin spent a long, long period of time in combat.

Wow! I didn't know that Darth Sidious arranged Anakin's conception. That is truly amazing. I know you said that was from the original script of ROTS, but is there any other media where that is said? Perhaps a book? I would love to read about it.

Luke Skywalker is the most powerful character ever. He is the only person in the Star Wars universe that can intimidate Boba Fett. Also, whenever Luke fights someone he's always hurt and not able to fight at full capacity, and yet he still beats them. When he went after Jacen he made everyone think he was dead by hiding himself in the Force as his ship blew up. Then when Jacen was taunting Ben about his father being dead (Jacen had cut Ben off from the Force earlier), Jacen let Ben look at the Force using Jacen's Force powers and Luke showed himself in the Force to Ben without Jacen noticing it. Also, as the Jedi Grand Master and a hero of the Rebellion he has considerable political pull.

The list of Jedi/Sith Marek defeated include a few non-canon ones. (Luke? Really?)

Anakin had a higher force potential than Luke because he was spawned via the cell division of a human egg and midichlorians.

Except that George says the three all have the same Force potential. But Darth Daddy has less than half the potential post-Mustafar for reasons George doesn't elaborate on. Leia was too busy with trying to establish a democracy (one which, might I add, Luke was indirectly responsible for its downfall with his "blackmail the Senate" plan) to study the Force much. Only Luke realized his potential. These are G-canon facts.

We know why Vader has less power, because of his injuries.

A robot can't use the force, Greivous is an example of that. Vader is around 80% machine at the time of the OT, he has little of himself left to be able to generate as much force power as he otherwise would have.
