Darth Maul, who's real name is rumored to be Khamier Sarin, is known as a Zabrak to some and an Iridonian to others. It seems you would be believing Iridonian.

He is a Iridonian Zabrak. But he doesn't quite match either. He doesn't look like Koth who is called a Zabrak (above link) or Bao-Dur who is called a Iridonian (sorry couldn't find pic. Play KotOR II. You should be anyway. )

The idea of any Sith or Jedi knocking up Shmi is ludicrous too, the idea of just simply finding some slave on Tatooine, having sex and conceiving Anakin, then leaving is lame. A jedi would not do that.

And a Sith sure as hell would not go for some unattractive slave woman.

The force is an entity that seeks ballance. Personally, it is my oppinion that Anakin is not the only chosen one and that they are created every so often. And excuse the shameless self-promotion, but I actually wrote an entire fic about this topic - vessel of the Force

 

I hate the ugliness of that rermark. For centuries, poor little children have been branded as some lesser being, because their mother was loose, or the father was a rapist of some sort. blaming that on the innocent makes me sick. The only bastards are the ones that think a child should pay for something they had no say in or control over.

Technically, they all do have parents. They are jst not with them, nor do they communicate. Obi-Wan had a ma and pa... Yoda had a ma and pa... but Anakin was different. He had a ma and no pa. So in a very literal sense, he had no father.

The Force concieved Lil' Ani, and 9years later(plus nine months for gestation and birth), he meets a Jedi, hits on a teenage queen, and wins the local dragrace in his homemade podracer. Oh, and builds himself a protocol droid ot of spare parts.

However, the dialogue used does admittedly leave open some leeway for interpretation.

Why was it left vague? My guess is Lucas didn't want to have to deal with a possible religious backlash by hardcore Christian conservatives because this kid born of no mortal father goes on to slaughter untold numbers, unlike that nice carpenter boy who wanted to teach humilty and charity.
