Xizor...Black Sun was the most powerful crime syndicate ever. Jabba's organization was powerful, but it couldn't rival Xizors.

I'd say Xizor did. Jabba was powerful in his own right, but his wasn't as much organized crime as it was just downright skullduggery. Xizor was more like the leader of a huge mafia, while Jabba was more like just a local city boss.

skawookiee got it right. Jabba was under Xizor's control, as seen in Shadows of the Empire.

Well, let's look at their chosen places of residence, shall we:

Jabba the Hutt: Out in the middle of norwhere on Tatooine, which coencidently, was also out in the middle of nowhere. Jabba was a bloated slug who smelled and had to chain Leia to him to keep her around.

Prince Xizor: Spitting distance from the Imperial Palance on Coruscant. Xizor was a tall, lean, mean green babe magnet with pheromones who didn't have to chain Leia to anything.

Yeah, but if you look at it, the Hutt organisation has (or had before the YV)the most powerful criminal organisation, with complete planets belonging to them (Taooine? are you joking? This place is not even a summer residence). I mean you cannot even think of pickpocketing without doing business with Hutts. And Jabba was one in a huge criminal family.

Black Sun was more into information and transport, I never really heard of them doing into drugs or weapons (A little like Kardee but more heavy). It was more an underworld thing. But Xizor was the leader.

So if you look at it, Xizor was more powerful than Jabba, but not more than the Hutt crime syndicate.

Emperor (or a guy who would really like to have that pheromone thing...not that he needs it but...would help ;))

Most of the Hutts worked for Xizor. Remember that Durga the Hutt was at Xizor's meeting.

Hutts tried to stear clear from Xizor's own little empire. Arak the Hutt, Durga's "father" said if you give Black Sun a kilometer, they'll take a parsec. In the end, Durga was tricked to giving his loyalty to the Dark Prince.

Black Sun had it's hands in every criminal activity in the galaxy, something the Hutts as a whole might also have been able to claim. But on an individual basis, Jabba could not claim that his orginization had it's hands in every crimilan activity. Xizor on the other hand could claim exactly that. Jabba had to deal with competitors, Xizor had them eliminated or brought under his control. But Xizor would always be more powerful than Jabba for one extremely important reason, he was one of Palpatine's chief lieutenants. And Jabba feared Xizor. So in the end, Xizor was more powerful.

Xizor without question. I think they made him a bit too powerful in Shadows of the Empire - ie. saying that Black Sun could rival the power of the Empire. It could be explained, I suppose, by saying that our glimpses of Black Sun were taken from within Xizor's egotistically deluded brain.

However, Black Sun is still an incredibly powerful crime syndicate (and Xizor's private interests aren't exactly peanuts) and as Shadows of the Empire pp51-54 showed, Jabba's organisation, though considerable, is very much inferior.

Xizor's criminal empire was more powerful than Jabba's by far and away

I see Jabba like the Hutt equvilent of a Mafia Capo in the Outter Rim Territories. Many 'Hutts' in the 'Family' protected each other, and maybe even fueded with each other. However, all of the Hutts could easily compete directly with Xizor.

Durga became a Black Sun vigo. All his activities and Kasilijic activities were then under Black Sun control. That takes car of the first bigger Kasilijic, the Diori.

The second Kasilijic, the Desilijik, of which Jabba was the leader after Jiliac, was under BS control, as we can see from SOTE. Xizor made Jabba speak basic, that is quite a good indication that he totally dominates the Hutt.

So Xizor's the most powerful, Jabba's just a crimelord.

Of course it's Xizor. I think that people could have percieved Jabba as more poerful because his organization worked quite crudely when compared to the sublety of Black Sun.
What I am trying to say is that when Jabba operated in plain view, Black Sun took a stealthier approach.
Oh, and Jabba definitely was lower in the pecking otrder than Xizor, read the SotE...
