Sidious is, albeit by a relatively minor margin. Yoda goes into exile, because he realizes this. The Sith have gotten stronger with every generation while the Jedi have not, and that means that Sidious is more powerful than Yoda.
Darth Sidious. Although Yoda isn't too far off. I think a lot of it has to do with Sidious (typically) being a smarter fighter.
They kind of felt like equals to me. Basically Sheev won because he was able to hang on to a ledge longer.
Sidious especially after episode 9 and again George himself even says if you want the ultimate power you have to be on the stronger side which is the dark side you get amazingly powerful but it will eventually be your undoing.
Yoda to me was the strongest Force User, but Sidious was right under him in my opinion and he was much, much more agressive using his powers, being a Sith Lord and all, Yoda always used his powers never to attack, but to defend and counterattack, so it seemed like he was weaker, when actually he wasnt. That is just my take on it.
The Dark Side isnt stronger than the Light Side, its just much much more aggressive and quicker, cause those users let their emotions run amok, lol.
Palpatine had the advantage from the get go, because there were a bunch of stormtroopers nearby who could storm in at any time. Yoda could easily take the stormtroopers themselves, but fighting Sidious while also guarding from the stormtroopers would have put him at too much of a disadvantage.
I think they are about evenly matched, and Yoda probably could have kept fighting of he really wanted to, but he realized the longer it went on the more likely that Sidious would summon clone reinforcements or other dangerous allies to swing it in his favor. When Yoda says he failed, I don't think he believes he was outright beaten, but just that he missed his one and only shot to get it done.
It would have been very interesting if you could have had Obi-Wan and Yoda teaming up to take on Palpatine. That would have been a duel for the ages.....
Obi Wan likely would have been cut down, near immediately. The same way Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin, and Agen Kolar were. Yoda was able to stalemate Sidious only to a losing stalemate. Essentially Sidious won the fight, but only in the sense Yoda was forced to flee. Or what you might call a strategic loss, and tactical stalemate to use military terms.
Not necessarily - Obi-Wan was near the height of his powers at this time. Plus, we now know that deflecting Palpatine's Sith lightning with two lightsabers is enough to kill him. So there's a chance Yoda and Obi-Wan might have done precisely that
Frankly, I'm ignoring TROS because that scene was extremely dumb. Yoda himself said, "to face this Lord Sidious strong enough you are not". Given Yoda couldn't do better than not die, Obi Wan who be cut down with trivial ease.
Sidious defeated a posse of four Jedi masters. Well three anyway. And he beat Yoda. The power levels involved are just above Obi Wan's paygrade.
We're talking about the Sith'ari here. The culmination of a thousand year plan, and the commensurate increase in power that entails. Yoda went into exile, because he realizes he couldn't contend with Sidious in a martial manner. Why if Yoda couldn't do it, could Obi Wan? Mace had three experienced masters with him. They were all dead in seconds.
Look at it the other way: if Yoda alone could fight him to a draw, then Yoda and Obi-Wan together could only have been more effective. Especially if they figured out a way to keep the clones from intervening.
So you think 2-1 is better than 4-1? Obi Wan is powerful, but he’s not near Sidious level. Him beating Vader was no sure thing. Why do you think he and Yoda would be able to do anymore than achieve the same results Yoda did? Except probably with Obi Wan dead on the floor?
Obi-Wan has a better record going against Sith lords than even Yoda does. The best Yoda could do was fight Dooku and Sidious to a draw. Obi-Wan took out Maul, Grievous and Vader. He's the real thing.
