I think the Lost 20 "started count" after the battle of Ruusan, because it's my understanding that a lot of Jedi left the Order during the Great Sith War, and the New Sith War.

Good point. I'll take that down as a note. That's a good point. We should still try to compile a list, though, of the lost 20 after the Ruusan Reformation of the Republic so:

    1. Count Dooku
    2. Aurra Sing
    3. That one Hutt Jedi
    4. Allya

    Who else?

Xanatos was after Ruusan, since he was Qui-Gon's padawan, right?

I Aayla Secura is not part of the Lost 20, nor is Aurra Sing. The Lost 20 are Twenty Jedi that voluntarily left the Jedi Order. Aayla Secura did not leave on her own will. Aurra Sing, perhaps can be counted, but I don't think so. She believed that the Jedi betrayed her, so her reasoning was clouded. The Lost 20 are 20 former Jedi who knew what they were doing, and voluntarily left the ranks of the Jedi Order.

Quinlan Vos. But he didn't leave voluntarily before AOTC, so he couldn't be part of the Lost 20, no?

The Lost Twenty is a concept originating with AotC. It was mentioned by Jocasta Nu and Obi-Wan in a scene cut from the movie, where they are discussing Dooku's leaving the Order. You can find it among the Deleted Scenes on the DVD. I'm sure it is mentioned in the novel, but I certainly have not made it through to find out.

I don't know of any official word on who the Lost Twenty were. My understanding was that they were stricty Masters, or at the most Masters and Knights; Padawans didn't count. Can't give anything official on that, though. And I also didn't know that they only counted from Ruusan, though that would make sense.

Well, we can all agree Xanatos for sure.

    5. Xanatos

Aurra Sing definitely counts. Clouded reasoning or not, she left voluntarily. I wouldn't say the same for Aayla Secura and Quinlan Vos, because they lost all of their memories. That isn't really voluntary. Could Obi-Wan count? Anyway, discuss.

The Lost 20 only include individuals who have completed their training, so it excludes anyone who isn't a high-level respected knight or a full-fledged master. To be included, one also has to have willingly left out of their own free will, with no agressively ill feelings towards the Jedi, and the individual can not have fallen to the dark side, have been in danger of falling, or have lived in a complete rejection of the Jedi teachings.

Dooku is included because his leave was peaceful, for personal reasons, he hadn't (or the Jedi thought he hadn't) fallen to the dark side or been in danger of falling, he was highly respected and was a master of great repute, and he was not in danger of being expelled or otherwise cast aside. Individuals like Xanatos and Aurra don't count because they didn't have complete training, they weren't very respected, they were in danger of becoming darksiders, and in general it just wouldnt look good or attractive to have their busts standing in the Jedi archives. The OJO were all about appearances, after all, and they didn't want their (sarcastically speaking, of course) honorable, respectable, but ultimately misguided Lost 20 to be corrupted by the shame of having ruffians like Sing counted among them.

Actually, rather unfortunately, this deleted segment is not on the AotC DVD.

Really? I could swear I saw it. I guess this is one of those cases like those people who caim to have seen Biggs on Tattooine in ANH, where they're so familiar with the source material they invent a memory. Huh.

Edit: And sure enough, just whipped out my AotC Disc 2, and there it isn't. Go figure. It is a shame, though.

7-7-7 is right I believe, and makes good points. The Lost Twenty were intended as something of a point of contemplation, something for the Jedi to reflect ton to avoid assuming they were too perfect and to consider potential weaknesses of the Order. They were certainly respected, despite their rejection of the Jedi way.

I do agree that she makes sense as a member of the Lost Twenty, and meets the criteria. (Edit: Actually -- does she formally withdraw from the Order? Thinking back on RP, I'm remembering more that she just vanishes but does not formally split with the Order, which is a characteristic of the Lost Twenty. I could be wrong in that, though.) However, there is a problem. She leaves around the time of Rogue Planet, which is still more than half a decade from AotC. I'm fairly sure there are references to Dooku's being the most recent member of the Lost Twenty as of the time of AotC. (Maybe I did make it through the novel and just don't remember very well.) So unless my memory is faulty or has been wiped, she can't be one of them, as Dooku left before Rogue Planet -- around the time of TPM, in fact, IIRC. Maybe even before.

That makes sense, though I didn't remember if that was official or fan fic. (I have that problem a lot these days.) Either way, I don't think he left as late as three years after Qui-Gon's death (he seemed quite proficient in the Sith Arts by AotC, and he had both spent some time keeping a low profile on Serenno and built the Confederacy from the ground up), which, unless I'm mistaken (which I don't believe I am) about his being the most recent member of the Lost Twenty as of AotC -- the last time anyone would really have kept such a record anyway -- Thracia is out, meaning we've got no names so far I can go for.

darth_paul, it's exactly like the Biggs footage. Especially since leading up to AotC, we kept seeing pictures from the Jocasta Nu scene, and seeing the dialogue in the spy reports.

I'm pretty sure that all of the basic Lost Twenty information was left in the novelization. Regardless, it's all official, and Dooku did indeed leave shortly after TPM, as the Bounty Hunter game is still set at 32 years BBY.

Wasn't Asajj Ventress a Jedi before the Council 'abandoned' her master? Then out of grieft and anger she left. Would she fall in the right time period to be one of the lost 20?

Ventress was never a Jedi. She was trained by a Jedi Master before his death, but it's never stated that he declared her a Jedi at any point.

Neither Aurra or Xanatos count, as they were still Padawan's when they left.

Right, but where does it say that Padawans don't count in the Lost 20?

common sense. Padawans fail out or leave all the time. there would be a lot more than 20 in 1000 years if they counted Padawans.

Xanatos and Aurra Sing definitely do not count. neither does Ventress, since she was not only a Padawan, but the Council had no idea she even existed until the Clone Wars were already in full swing.

    what about Volffe Karrko (sp?)
