Who's stronger Chewbacca or Darth Vader?

I went with Chewbacca.

a) because I thought I'd go ahead and vote for the underdog

b) because Chewbacca is physically stronger than Vader

(though Vader can probably lift a spaceship with the force )

Vader's probably a stronger character with more developement as well.

 

General Grievous was stronger than both of them. Vader could lift a Rebel with one arm, Chewbacca could break binders and throw Stormtroopers left and right, but Grievous could pick up Obi-Wan with one hand and effortlessly hurl him about 30 feet. Very strong.

 

I agree that cyborg Grevious was physically stronger than either of them..

 

He doesn't count. He's CGI! You can do anything with CGI, remember T1000!

 

Chewie doesn't possess the force. So I'm going with Vader.

 

Vader rules all.

 

I think it's a tough choice between Chewie and Vader, but I think that in the Prequel Trilogy, it is revealed that Anakin has a lot of emotional weaknesses that Chewie doesn't seem to have. In terms of physical/Force strength, I think that Vader would win, but it would be close. Overall, I think Chewie is stronger because of his incredible emotional and physical strength.

We don't really see much of Chewie strength wise, it is said a wookie can pull arms out of sockets but Chewie I think is almost a runt. We see him throttle Lando and toss Stormtroopers about though.
We see Vader choke Captain Antilles one handed and throw him effortlesly so from what I have seen they are pretty much equal.

 

Except his emotions

 

Straight fight - Vader (remember throwing Palpatine down the rector of the Death Star)

Fight with the aid of the force - Vader (plainly becuase he possesses force powers

But this argument reminds me of a debate in high school about Chewie and Worf from STNG (I am not a Trekkie by ANY stretch, btw).
