How about the villain is some whiny fellow who claims that Luke is a sellout and should be recast as someone else? It's a movie within a movie!

Circular Logic Darth Archimage I love the idea of Plagueis setting up base on one of these well-spring planets and beginning to corrupt it. Killing this planet could sever the link between the Force and any future born Force users and could provide the existential threat we've talked a lot about. It could also tie into what Immortiss has long been speculating about that the Force ghosts connection to the physical realm could be cut and could explain why Yoda would need to appear in the ST.

I love the idea of the ST conflict being the force itself.

After seeing the latest Clone Wars episodes, I've envisioned the Force as being cyclical -- the midichlorians are created and then used to generate the living force, once the living dies it enters into the cosmic force which Immortiss suggests and I assume is then used to re-create the midichlorians. One or more of wellsprings that is corrupted at the beginning of the cycle could really mess the force up after ...say 30+ years.

I wholeheartedly agree. Where else can the storyteller go? The villain discovers that the Jedi have Force Ghosts to teach them and guide them. To assist them on their way to inevitable victory. If you have benevolent immortals willing to assist you I'd say the favor is on your side. What to do? What to do....?[face_waiting][face_devil]

I am encouraged for the sake of the story that the midichlorians were not only referenced but elaborated upon in TCWS6 Episodes. They are an important component in understanding the more philosophical aspects of SW. George Lucas is a fantastic storyteller who doesn't seem to be concerned or bothered with those who do not understand the story as he chooses to tell it and as he sees fit. As it should be. As I have stated before, I am of the conviction that the midichlorians are now an essential part of the story. Perhaps the very story problem in the ST. They will not run away from this concept because they may very well be a necessity to giving us an original story to tell. A vital component. Without them as a concept a sequel may be impossible or completely unnecessary. Why is this significant? Because we all know who could manipulate the midichlorians. [face_devil] One we've heard of, but haven't seen. One we're told is dead, but never shown. One who is said can cheat death and create life. One who is part of the past, and perhaps the future....

SW Law of Villains #1...Move up the food chain. (OT)...Tarkin to subordinates, including Darth Vader: "The Emperor has dissolved the Senate permanently...." and (PT) "Have you ever heard the Legend of Darth Plagueis the Wise?" Hey, "There's always a bigger fish" is straight from the horse's mouth.:-B

SW Law of Villains #2: Allude to unseen characters in passing and show them later, when the stakes are high or set it up and pay it off. I'm not positive that Lucas will make Darth Plagueis the ST/Saga Villain. However, this is how George Lucas works. He has shown us this pattern (and many others) before. I submit it as a kind of evidence.

Anymore SW Laws? I'm sure there are plenty.:p

Kyle Reese: He's not a man - a machine. A Terminator. Cyberdyne Systems Model 101.
Sarah Connor: A machine? Like a robot?
Kyle Reese: Not a robot. A cyborg. A cybernetic organism.

Kyle Reese: The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy, but these are new. They look human... sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot.

Maybe it's time for Baddie Poll 2.0?

Someone (other than me) should do it.

    Sorry. :)

I've said before I wouldn't mind a darkside powered droid. Did you see the bots in Elysium? I thought they looked pretty good.

You mean you want a poll then? Maybe you should do it.

Have you ever seen the b-movie Robot Holocaust? Kind of an apocalyptic rip off of Star Wars. It's terrible, but hilarious on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Check out the evil robot though.

Yes, it's a cheesy plastic thing. But I wonder if a good version of it would work in the ST?

Of course, all of this is based on the assumption that the rumors are actually true. And we all know what happens when we assume... ;)

Alright, so here's my reasoning as to why the Baddie won't be Darth Plagueis: (A) the function of the Rule of Two and (B) Word of God

The function of the Rule of Two is that each Sith Lord becomes progressively stronger and more powerful than the Sith Lord who tutored them. I've elaborated on the rationale for this in several other threads; if requested I can do so again here. Plagueis was more powerful than Tenebrous, Sidious was more powerful than Plagueis, etc. Heck, I'd argue that even a "suited" Darth Vader would have curbstomped Darth Bane.

According to George Lucas, Anakin Skywalker had the potential to be vaaaaaastly more powerful than Darth Sidious, and the major reason that the Emperor wanted to replace Vader with Luke is that the younger Skywalker had every bit of his father's potential.

Fast-forward 30 years. Luke Skywalker has now reached his full potential. Darth Sidious, noted as the most powerful Dark Lord of the Sith to have ever existed, can't hold a candle to the Jedi Master that Luke Skywalker has become, and Plagueis was (by inference of the Rule of Two, and confirmed by out-of-universe sources) infererior to Darth Sidious.

The only way that Plagueis, if used in the movies, could represent a potential threat to Luke Skywalker would be if Luke Worf Had the Flu.
