Yes, there are several occasions in the Bible where God choses people to for certain task and destinies, put the path to completion is often not straight forward, as the chisel are tempted by women, or not strong enough, or run from their responsibilities but they ultimately achieve the goals, though there is always suffering for people along the way.

It is similar for Anakin - he should have destroyed Palpatine during that scene where the Chancellor reveals the truth or sided with Mace, but he choose the wrong path instead of the one laid out for him and unleashed two decades of suffering.

However, like in the Bible he was given another chance to do what he was asked.

I'll take the bet because there is will be no Sith.

Latino Review have zero credibility after that Boba Fett reboot story.

I just realized there's a missing dignitary in this photo.

If you look at this photo really closely, you'll notice there are six of them. Just behind the blue guy is Kren Blista Vanee and right behind him is Janus Greejatus. You can just make out the frame of his hat and see the sides of his robes blending with Vanee. He is the shortest of the bunch. But the guy on the far left isn't in the photo above.

You can also see six of them here.

I wonder if he was the guy taking the first photo.

They should make that guy out to be Max Von Sydow. :p

If there are to be Inquisitors in the ST and there is a whole Academy/Church/Temple of them I think it would be an awesome idea to give the leaders/teachers/high Inquisitors those costumes, because they would be legitimated that way.

All this speculation of the prophecy, Plagueis, and the Emperor to some extent makes me wish the PT had never existed. Almost handcuffs the directions they could go. Perhaps not, but it sure FEELS that way.

Well at the moment we only have two trilogies and two tv shows to work with and from those there aren't a lot of options outside of the Sith we know and the Inquisitors, I hope a Sith is behind everything because Star Wars always needs a dark lord.

I believe the Episode VII big Baddie will be Governor Sio Bibble of Naboo. He will either have been Palpatine's apprentice from his time as Senator and local politician or Bibble will have been Palpatine's master all along. So strong in the Dark Side he was able to hide his true identity from the Sith. He is beyond Sith or Jedi. He is a singular force of nature. With his tool Palpatine extinguished as he had foreseen, he can now reveal himself in all his glory.

Sorry, my sources just found another leaked photo. The source says the concept artist forgot to include his breathing apparatus and is too late to edit his post.

It doesn't hinder anything - the Prophecy of the Chosen One is fulfilled and does not need to be mentioned in the new movies.

Plagueis will not factor into the story either and Palpatine will be mentioned at most.

If by dark lord, you mean Sith, no it does't need them.

A new Dark Side threat in the new movies will prove this.

The real handcuffs for the ST happened in ROTJ development when Lucas collapsed all his material for 7-9 into ROTJ. Still, Yoda did tell Luke to pass on his knowledge, which is a tiny unresolved thread, but its something to build on.

I've come to the conclusion that the Prophecy can't just refer to the Sith, but any darksiders who are powerful enough to unbalance the Force. Hence, we can't have any darkside villains as powerful as Palp or Vader in the ST.

Therefore, since the prophecy is Absolute (like Vodka), the villains will be relatively weak, and they'll have to make up for that lack in some other way. Perhaps wardrobe.

But certainly we won't see them doing anything at all like Maul or Sidious or Dooku or Vader did. Some might find this boring, but at least we can stay consistent with a six film arc.

The Force will never be unbalanced again for as long as the GFFA lasts! (Or else Anakin's redemption will be ruined, as well as the prophecy, which is written in unflaking stone.)

Taken together, all 6 pictures negate the whole prophecy thing beyond belief. If not for Anakin/Vader, Palpatine would be dead a long time ago, there would be no Empire (as we knew it at least), Jedis wouldn't be extinct, plus don't forget wasted decades and everything that he did as Emperor's CEO.
Just picture Hitler being assasinated at the age of 99 by some rebel and with the help of his Chief of Staff, after 5 decades of ruling of huge Empire, would you consider him a loser?
If anything, Vader/Anakin was the embodiment of reversed prophecy. Finally, if he was not there to stand up for the old man, Luke would probably defeat the Emperor (much like old Mace did a long time ago).

It's merely (and barely) his personal redemption, somewhat questionable at that - Would he assist some other righteous Jedi, who is not his son or related in any way?

Of course Jedis forgave him (which is a bit strange all things considered).

Luke on the other hand, could be the fulfillment of the prophecy, but for that we'll have to wait and see this next installment.

As is Gary Kurtz's claim that Palpatine would be the villain in the sequel trilogy. No, not like that. Lucas seems quite fixated on the prophecy thing now, but all the same I wouldn't be surprised if he's repackaged something of the old outline in a new form. Meaning that the best guess we can make about the new main antagonist is that he's sort of an Emperor Palpatine *substitute*. Somebody who can fulfill the same narrative role. That should be the beginning of our speculations, I think, and the fewer baseless assumptions we make (like the idea that such a character has to be a Sith) the better.

Isn't every villain in a movie series a "substitute" for the previous villain?

Funny that you mention Kurtz's claim and the big bad not needing to be a Sith in the same post because there's evidence that until the prequels were made Palpatine wasn't intended to be a Sith, but rather something far more powerful.

With the rumors of Palpatine, and a hand floating in space, it's obvious what the trilogy will be called:

"The Hand of Palpatine" Trilogy or better ... "Empire of the Hand." :)
