Why did Count Dooku not know about the Clone army?
My view is that Dooku is working for Sidious as we know so why does Sidious/Palpateen go behined Dookus back and build this clone army only to set them upon Dooku and the Trade fed?

It could be someting do do with Palpateen setting in motion his planes for the empire!

    Any other views on this?

And I do belive that Sidious/Palpateen are as one.

i think this is the discreet moment that dooku realizes that sidious may not be all trusting in dooku, although i kind of think that dooku still has hopes of killing palpatine and taking over, or maybe turning back to the light side, i just dont buy that with a few years of training someone can be totally evil and lose all prior convictions, i mean anakin kept them all locked up for 20 plus years

"I was hired by a man called Tyranus on one of the moons of Bogden."

    -Jango Fett.

Count Dooku arrives on Coruscant, is greeted by Lord Sidious:

    "Welcome home, Lord Tyranus."

He knew about it-he's the one who got Jango involved. He was just making like he didn't for the benefit of the Seperatist leaders.

He may have been surprised at the sudden appearance of the clones but he MUST have known they were going to show sooner or later. Other wise the line "the war (yes, war, not boy ;) ) has begun" would not have made sense coming from Dooku. It would have been more like..."Lord Sidious, you ain't NEVER gonna believe what just happened..."

Good point, But my gut feeling is that he did not, Palpy is just using Dooku as a puppet and so forth is setting in motion his Empire. once the Trade Feds are wiped out by the Clones and Jedi's Palpy will then turn on the Jedi's and finish them of and take control of the Clone army and the rest of whats left and call it the Empire.

Of course Dooku knew about the clones, but he couldn't exactly tell the Seperatists that he was working with Darth Sidious to screw them all over. Sidious wants to gain power and control over the galactic government. A great way to do so is to wiggle one's way to the highest possition in that government and then have a crisis come along in which a greater degree of flexibility is needed to deal with said crisis. What better crisis to scare all the Republic citizens and affect them all but a war. To have a war, two sides must oppose one another. Sidious had Dooku create side number one: the droid army and their Seperatist leaders. Sidious and Dooku then created side two: the clones and Sidious as Palpatine wiggled his way into getting the Jedi to use the clones. There's the two sides, mix in some societal tension and blammo: you got war on the horizon and Palpatine gets his increased control over the government via "emergency powers." The clones are superior to droids, so of course Palpatine plans on ending up with the clone army on the side he's pretending to be on because it would enable him to have a the stronger force closer to him and the weaker force as the one that'll get trashed (thus Dooku isn't exactly gonna tell the Seperatists that he knows about the clones since he's well aware that the plan is for the Seperatists to get their butts kicked). Additionally, Palpatine having the Jedi start out in control of the clone army will enable him to later turn public opinion of the Jedi against the Jedi since he'll be able to blame them for the length or manner of the war (not to mention he can blame them for creating the clone army via the whole Sifo-Dyas ordered them from Lama Su issue). With public opinion against the Jedi, Palpatine then stands in a possition to arrest complete control of the clone army away from the Jedi, completely discredit the Jedi, and ascend to the possition of Emperor.

In short, Dooku knew about the Clones, but was pretending that he didn't in front of the Separists, because had he revealed he knew about the Clones, the Separists would realize he was setting them up, and Palpatine's plans would basically be "terminated"*.

*In light of T3 being out, I felt I had to throw in the word "terminated" ;) :D

    Yup.
He was lying through his elderly teeth just to stay chummy with Poggle, even though he knows all the Seperatists have been sold down the river by him and Palpatine.

Like everyone's added he knew. I think the Geonosian are aligned with Sidious also. Didn't GL say they did most of the labor on the DS in one of the commentaries. The Banking Clan, TF, and others are the ones being played.

Well, I think the Geonosians are being played too. They've assisted with the designs for the Death Star, but don't know that it's gonna be Palpatine's personal play-toy and think it'll be for the Seperatists. Considering Dooku lies to Poggle about the Clone Army, I don't think they're onboard with Palpatine's schemes.

It's part of Paplpy's master plan. He's using Dooku to create an army that will be lead by the Jedi against an enemy headed by Dooku. It's called playing both sides against the middle. The results are a continuance for Palpy's term as Chancellor, All those sweet new Emergency powers given him (Thank you Jar Jar), and his ultimate enemies (the Jedi) being run ragged fighting his war for him.
It's quite clever actually. All the work's done for him and he gets all the benefits of that work.
