When Mace Windu has gotten Palpatine knocked down on the window ledge and he starts reflecting his lightning back that is what caused him to get himself deformed by Mace Windu, so why didnt Palpatine just call him a traitor at first and then start Force Choking Windu instead?

By doing this he stops Mace Windu from attacking him and killing him and he prevents himself from being deformed, Windu lunges at him to kill him and gets force choked in mid strike and cant stop him, Palpatine then tells Anakin that this is what happens to traitors and then sends Force Lightning to knock him out of the window.

We know from Count Dooku's duel with both Anakin and Obi-Wan that Obi-Wan couldnt block Dooku's force choke at all, and with force lightning it can easily be stopped or deflected back at the attacker by a skilled jedi, with force choking there is really no way to block, and Palpatine being smart would know that and avoid himself being deformed if he could prevent it from happening.

Anakin Skywalker then impressed by Palpatines powers joins him and becomes a Sith Lord without Palpatine having to be deformed, he then tells the Senate that Mace Windu tried to kill Palpatine and then goes to Mustafar to destroy the Separitist leaders, he does this before the special session of congress though.

It's more dramatic to use the lightning. Palpatine is a showman first, Sith Lord second.

Its better than being deformed or having your attack turned against you though.

Sith Lightning can be deflected back at the attacker with a lightsaber, Force Chokes cannot be turned on the attacker, thus it is the more logical choice, Palpatine could have switched halfway through and avoided his injuries easily IMHO, being deformed wasnt part of his plan anyway.

I'm pretty sure the lightning didn't deform Palpatine. It simply made him unable to conceal his true form.

He used the Force to look like a kindly old man, when really he looked that bad to begin with.

Also, in Dark Empire Luke says that the common Force-Choke is easily countered. And please, let's not get into a debate on why Palpatine's face transformed the way it did. I'd love to stay on topic for once in these forums without returning to the same old arguments that have no definitive answer.

Yeah, Luke swats aside a Force Choke with about as much difficulty as getting out of bed in the morning in Dark Empire 2.

Force Lightning is not so easily dealt with. :p

Because Force Lightning is Palpatine's signature Force power, and Choke is Vader's.

Because Palpatine didn't want to be in control. He wanted Anakin to have to have to make the choice to kill mace windu. Palpatine knew that if he put himself in this position, he could finally get anakin to turn.

    ^^^

So true, Massster Sx3, soooo true!

But then, mecho-Vader was entirely incapable of using force lightning (lest he short himself out), so he was essentially relegated to making others suffer his very own fate . . . the inability to breath on their own (Padme being the lone exception).

The only force choke Palpatine likely ever employed was against mecho-Vader, to show him who had the power and to teach him "obedience."

In Star Wars TK can be countered if the opponent is prepared. What sort of visual would that create?

Lightning was the best way to go, both visually and in terms of Star Wars logic.

I'm not taking Palpatine's face into account.

If Palpatine had Force-choked Mace, he'd have to explain how the dead body of a Jedi with a crush larynx got in his office.

With Force-lightning, he can explain it away easier: A Jedi with burn injuries...uh, missing one hand...um, leaned against his window which shattered into a million pieces and, uh, slipped and fell.

Okay, maybe a Force-choke would have made more sense.

Massster Obi-Chron, you do know that Sidious has... threatened Vader with lightning and that Vader didn't flinch right? IIRC, it was Dark Lord where Vader calmly stated: "I do not fear death..."

I think Lucas was trying to convey certain things like:
Maul was the ultimate Force user with a lightsaber, hence he got a two for one and we all know that lightning was Sidious' thing. I mean, Dooku looked downright impotent when he tried frying Yoda with it and if Skywalker hadn't been so stupid, Dooku might have died a whole lot sooner. But I digress.

The force choke is soooo... personal.
That's why onfilm, it forever belongs only to Vader.

    Anything else would be, cheap.

Force lightning was a way to prove that the Emperor's powers were stronger than originally thought. At least, that's what I believe.

And that Sith Masters don't need a lightsaber.
(A la his mirror, Master Yoda on Dagoba)

I would have preferred that PT-Sidious NEVER brandished a "Jedi Weapon"...

A Force choke can be blocked by a Force shove. Sith Lightning is a bit harder to repel.
