Why do rappers who rap about a bunch of filth thank Jesus/God in their accpetance speech?

I'm not basing my opionions on what MTV tells me. Those are the acts that sell records. Now, the diggable planets aren't like that, but they also didn't sell enough records.

 

Tupac is the bomb. It's hard/impossible to live life 'clean as a whistle' when you are born into Tupac's situation. There is a lot of trolling going around here, whenever someone has 2 posts total in one thread, you know they are full of it.

Sorry. I just don't think its right to pick and choose who is Christian b/c of the cards they were dealt. My bible stuff may be hazy, but I distinctly remember from Simpsons: 'Flanders, haven't you heard of he who is without sin cast the first stone.'

No one made any acknowledgement of Pope Alexander VI. If you are going to say rappers can't be Christian, then you'd better say this Pope wasn't.

We are all SW fans, but a lot of people are making close-minded, intolerant, ignorant and even racist comments in this thread. But I'm not using that to denounce them as non-Christians, as the people who support the title of this thread are.

So what is it that they teach undereducated kids? That if you get lucky with rap you might make lots of money and get flashy cars. WHO THE HELL CARES! I didn't hear about these greedy people giving any money to help with the WTC and pentagon attacks. I've never once heard about a rapper do anything but run their friggin' mouth and show how much money they have. So if one of these retards is a victim of another retarded rapper, know what I say? These people are NOT rolemodels, these 'musicians' or 'lyricists' can go take a flying leap off a cliff for all I care and I wouldn't have any pity for them. And people wonder why I hate rap. I hate rap because it's stupid, doesn't require any talent other than being able to read nursery ryhmes, and most of all it's the 90's and 21st century of 80's hair-bands. They're gonna burn themselves out and I'm gonna be glad. There's only so much you can rap about like: beatings, muggings, drinking 40's, and pimping women. Errr....I hate this 'musical' genre so much!

I believe that most rappers are good people that were able to get out of their terrible situation using the only means necessary. The reason for their profane language, disturbing violence, drug content, and graphic sex-related lyrics is because that's how they grew up. And if God was something they turned to during their tough times, I don't see what is so wrong about that. Throughout history, religion has been an important thing for those in poverty. Just look at how Christianity spread through and eventually became accepted in the Roman Empire.

As for my religion, I was raised as a Catholic, but, my mother - who was a devout Catholic her whole life - got fed up with the Church, I did as well. Now, I pretty much believe in whatever I feel like believing in.

 

Well said, JediMaster22. How many people here actually listen to rap music a great deal and still believe that rappers are 'scum' like some of the posters have said.

Rappers are people. But why do some of their music videos have nudity?

 

It seems some don't realize the obvious that not all rappers are black and not all blacks are rappers, yet in a few posts in this thread, whatever grievances the poster has against rappers(for whatever reason?), they took out on the entire race.
