You develope an accent by living in an area where people speak with that accent.

I'm not sure how someone would sound if they grew up in isolation [yet somehow learning to speak fluent english], but it wouldn't be australian/british or whatever Jango talks like.

I realize that the speech is in their programming, but I doubt accents are. And don't say Jango programmed 'em 'cause he didn't.

Plus, if Tyranus impersonated Sifo Dias to program them, or at least tell the cloners what he wanted, then it's even more curious because he doesn't have a strong accent.

Then, if you think about it, the cloners don't have an accent either, they just talk slow.

    I'm at a loss...

Then, once we figure that out, why then, if stormtroopers are clones, do they lack an accent?

They wanted to emulate their creator? They trained heavily with Jango? Accents are genetic in the GFFA?

    Accents aren't genetic.

If you went to England and lived there for a few years, you'd develope a British accent, for example.

Also, take Asian Americans. I talk to many teenage Asians who were born here [USA] and they speak as well as me. Yet, you talk to their parents and they have some trouble.

I don't know what GFFA is, but I think it pretty much wipes out what I just said.

How many clones did they make? A lot. A whole lot.

Jango trained with ALL of them? I honestly don't think he trained with ANY of them.

I don't think many had contact with their originator and therefore would not know what to emulate.

Accents are genetic in the GFFA?

Deception do you really think I am so stupid that I don't know accents aren't genetic? Ugh...

Yah... Galaxy Far Far Away. Maybe in this ALTERNATE FANTASY PLACE accents are genetic. You cannot really rule it out. Why does Shmi sound Swedish? Why are the bad guys largely British? What does it matter? Clones sound like that because they do.

Remember, this is not Science Fiction. It's not based in science. It's Fantasy, which means the rules can be whatever.

I agree with STRILO .... Why do any of them have accents...They just do... because the actor grew up in said place and George liked it... And if you notice, it's Temuera Morrison's voice... you can really tell with the one who runs up to Padme when she falls out of the ship....And Boba has that accent too (kinda?) ...anyway.... just remember....fantasy

In AOTC, you can see that the clones are being taught with computers among other things during their maturation. It is a possibility that the "lesson plan" was developed by Jango himself, thereby imparting his invaluable experience as a bounty hunter/warrior. And since audio/visual recordings are easily done in the GFFA, I find this to be a reasonable explanation, assuming explanations are even necessary.

    *thinks*

woah... ya... if they are normal and everyone else in the galaxy are the ones with accents, that would be the case.

Strilo, who knows, man. There are little kids on here. I've heard of mods as young as 13.

But honestly, I was just talking. I wasn't really thinking it through that far.

I don't like how GL changed the voice of Boba to a clone voice in the OT DVD box set. I doubt he retained the accent he developed as a young boy after traveling the galaxy for 19 years.

But anyway, I see the point with the lesson plan, but wouldn't the Kaminoans be the teachers?

I know people who have lived in the U.S. for 30 years and still have the accent from where they were from. ANd this is again assuming that accents act the same in the GFFA as they do here.

But do they live with other people who share the same accent?

    Boba Fett was a loner.

Some do some don't. I have a British friend who married an American women and lives here without many other Brits around. Still has the accent.

Why wouldn't clones have accents? I assume they learn to speak just like everyone else; by listening to others speak. So if they were around people with accents...

Unless of course, language is programmed into them or something.

OK - all the clones have a kiwi (I'M A KIWI) accent BECAUSE -

    wait for it -

Jango Fett has a kiwi voice and he can't do a decent fake accent!!

Unlike Ian... you'd never guess the emperor was Scottish...

"Aye, Luke, the diark side be the on'y way...!"

Or maybe GL just asked him to keep the voice? It's a fairly refined accent, which matches up against alot of the Coruscant characters and blends in. It's possible Jango was involved in training the clones as well, so they might have emulated their accents after him or something like that.

...Am I the only one who barely notices the voice change in the OT? My friend of mine, who hates the SE, even admits he didn't notice it until I pointed it out to him.
