Darth Mauls stabs Qui-Gon Jin through the chest with his lightsaber and just watches him collapse and when Obi-Wan screams he turns around and waits for him to get ready to come in, why doesnt he do a downward strike like Count Dooku does on Obi-Wan when he takes him down in AOTC? why not just kill Qui-Gon after hes been stabbed and make Obi-Wan really suffer? this doesnt make much sense, he had to know that Qui-Gon Jinn was still alive when he and Obi-Wan were dueling again too because Obi-Wan knows it from the way he picks him up for support right after he kills Maul and Maul would sense it if he died.

Unless Darth Maul just let Qui-Gon Jin lay there in pain so that he would slowly die from his injury and suffer the most pain possible before passing on, like a revenge on his Jedi enemy by letting him die a long painfull death and then having to see his Padawan Learner get killed as well, which almost happens but doesnt, its either inexperience or a form of torture not to finish him off when he doesnt die right away.

It's a mix of over confidence and sadism as he believes that he'll be able to easily beat this Padawan and wants Jinn to suffer a slow and painful death.

I thought that Maul thought he already killed him on the first stab, or he would've died while he was fighting Obi-Wan alone

Darth Maul knew Qui Gon was done. I felt he showed that by turning his back after stabbing QG and walked toward the direction of Obi Wan;as Maul's lightsaber left QG's body. Like so...

Yep. Maul knew Qui-Gon was finished, and so he was no longer his concern.

Yep. Once Maul has run Qui-gon through, he puills the blade out and slowly steps away from him and back towards Obi-wan. He's got a smug expression on his face. An energy blade to the gut is fatal. Obi-wan just had a couple of cuts, when Dooku ended the fight. Dooku was intended to bisect Obi-wan, but was dragging out his suffering.

Because if he did, then Qui-Gon wouldn't be able to set up why and how Anakin had to be trained by such a Noob.

You are hereby commended. Maul didn't pay Jinn a second thought after running him through. Qui Gon was already finished before the blade was extracted... Maul just left him to die slowly... painfully, even. Now can we lock this [face_pig]?

Saying "Can we lock" or "Lock" is not a good idea. As it can result in a 24 hour ban.

It was a fatal blow....it wasn't as if Qui-Gon did anything to help Obi Wan defeat him....

the battle was against Obi Wan, he did not know when the barrier would be released, waste a few seconds to finish off a dying man and you could get a light saber in the back of the head....

The whole point that i am making is that Darth Maul does not finish Qui-Gon Jinn off after he stabs him, Count Dooku cuts Obi-Wan and goes to cut him in half right away to ensure his quick death, he doesnt foolishly let Obi-Wan live and suffer he just takes his enemy out, Darth Maul should do this and he doesnt, Palpatine doesnt only because every strike and stab that he does is fatal when it connects with his opponents, no need to strike again, Maul is foolish for not killing his enemy after taking him down.

What I think happened with Maul was that both Sidious and Count Dooku were far older and more experianced the Darth Maul. They had fought more battles and killed more enemies. He was still relatively inexperianced, and thought he could mess with his prey and it not try to fight back. Sidious and Dooku wouldn't, because they knew this could be dangerous and thus they killed when they had the oppertunity. Darth Maul, if he had lived long enough and learned these lessons, he would become far, far more dangerous then he was in the Phantom Menace. He just picked the wrong Jedi to have to learn one of the lessons with.

Actually, Over-Confidence Killed EVERY Sith in the Saga. Maul got wiped out by his against Obi-Wan. Dooku got wiped out by his against Anakin. Vader got wiped out by his against Obi-Wan. And finally, Sidious got wiped out by his against Anakin and Luke. Maul should have force pushed Obi-Wan down the shaft instead of trying to spark him to death. Dooku should have just swung his blade a bunch of times against Anakin instead of telling him how much fear and hate he had in him and how he didn't use it. Vader should have waited for help against Kenobi. And Sidious should have force pushed BOTH Vader AND Luke down the shaft and gone after Leia as his apprentice.

Leia would have made Lumiya look like Tinkerbell... if she ever became a Sith.

I agree. Leia had that Skywalker ability to stay alive through the most dangerous of situations. She could have ended up being the greatest Sith of all time. Darth Morta would have been her Sith name.

Maul did kill Qui-gon. He ain't getting up. Obi-wan wasn't as gravely injured as Qui-gon was. Dooku just stabbed Obi-wan in the arm and leg, both non fatal. Maul impaled Qui-gon through his chest, below his heart and above his stomach. A fatal blow, but not instantanious.

I thought Qui-Gon willed himself to stay alive with the force so that he could pass on his important instruction to Obi-Wan. He knew it was "too late" and he would die. It is not the Jedi way to hang on to life once it is over (note Anakin in ROTJ - Yoda laying down to die - until he recalled he had 1 last thing to say and almost got it out). But Maul probably knew this lore and expected Qui-Gon to let go and die. If he didn't however, Maul would just finish him off once he'd taken care of Obi-Wan, but his plan went South somewhere along the line...
