Vader would seem slightly out of place at a funeral, wouldn't he? :p

I would assume that Typho was there, we just didn't see him. The shots of Naboobians (Heh) seemed to center on Padme's family, IIRC. As for Vader not attending...by that point, he had probably already started to convince himself that it was Padme's fault that she was dead, that her brining Obi-Wan to Lava Central was the final proof that she was against both the Emperor and him.

Either that, or he was too self concious of his heavy mouth breathing to attend.
"We are gathered here today, to celebrate the lives of one of our"
    "hhhhhhh....Keeeeeeeh....Hhhhhhh....Keeeeeeh..."
"...Does someone's droid have a faulty module?"
"hh.................keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhh" (Vader trying to hold his breath)

Everyone is very grief stricken in Star Wars.

Vader is too grief-stricken about his mother to EVER step foot on Tatooine, even though the plans for the Death Star are there.

Vader is too grief-stricken to EVER go to Naboo to go to his wife's grave.

Typho is far, far too grief-stricken to go to Padme's funeral.

Padme is far too grief-stricken to live after her husband breaks her heart.

Everyone who is a leader of the Republic or Empire needs to get some counseling.

Are you serious? Man, he's a sith now, he's doesn't love and he doesn't have time to deal with that ****. His other life is gone. done. over. He has nobody now, and doesn't need to be reminded of that. Plus in the unlikely event somebody told him about the funeral, the call to Mr. Vader would end up like this "Hey dude, do wanna come to your wife's funeral? What the **** who the hell is this? And what's with that monotone vioce and mechanical breathing?"

I wondered about that myself. I dont know why he wouldnt show up, i mean he and Palpatine can do whatever they want at this point in the movie with the ObiWan and Yoda disappearing. He did try to do everything he could to save her. And why would he care that everyone knows he killed padme, if they have something to say about it he can just kill them if he wanted

Im honestly surprised Vader and Palpatine both didnt show up at her funeral and Vader yelling at Palpatine, "There she is now bring her back to life, you said you could as Mace was about to kill you, NOW BRING HER BACK"!!!!

Im sure thats why Palpatine made sure they didnt make the funeral.

Palpatine never told Anakin he could bring people back from the dead.

He said he could stop people from dying - big difference!

If Anakin concedes that the dark side is the pathway to keep someone from dying, then it is logical to think that he maintains hope of one day bringing padme back from the dead. This would explain his allegiance to the emporer. However, it is just as logical, if not more so, to think that Anakin has given up on everything, and hates himself once he finds out that padme died. When anyone makes a mistake, it is normal for that person to find a scapegoat to blame things on. In his case, Anakin, now Darth Vader of course, blamed the jedi. He nolonger had anything to live for accept the hate that now consumed his life. The same hate that is now channeled and weilded by the emporer. Until, of course, Luke makes his way into the picture.

On that map of the Star Wars Galaxy, I'm trying to find:

    1.Mustafar
    2.Dagobah
    3.Genosis
4.The planet (Poli Mases?)that Padme gave birth

But yeah, Corascant is FAR AWAY from Naboo, and if Vader went there, Padme would have already been buried and it would have caused much grief for him.

True but Anakin would blow that out of proportion just like every other little thing he thought about in ROTS.... so im sure he would yell bring her back now.

    "OJ went to Nicoles funeral
    Whats the difference here?
Maybe he didnt go because he never really loved her as much as he loved power and she was useless to him dead, the memory meant nothing anymore"

I whole-heartedly disagree with this statement. the whole point of the OT was to show that Vader did his evil acts to save Padme. Power came with it. The inablilty to let go came with it. Anakin went through hell and limbs to save Padme.

Did you not see the most depressing scene of ROTS when the first words out of newly suited Vaders mouth were "where is Padme. Is she alright?" not WHAT HAPPENED TO ME.

It showed that through all of the power lust, his assumed lack of attention and his drive to show-up his master (obi-wan) that, in the end, it was all about Padme.

    Very insightful, darhtangelus7. :)

I think he was probably still being finished during her funeral. The sequence of events in that montage doesn't really give one an idea of when the events happened.

So Padme's funeral was broadcast via hologram throughout the galaxy kind like the popes funeral or princess diana?

I actually like to think that he did, but wasn't shown - or maybe even better-maybe later, at night when there is no one around he just stood at the grave site, black wind billowing his cape - no life around except the dark lord himself. The only sound is deep slow breathing emanating from his mask.

Similar to Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights - who I tend to compare Vader to - Vader is more the tortured soul beneath that black facade. The conflict within him is more tragic to think of this scene (even if it wasn't shown). I think ultimately Vader would have gone to the grave of Padme.

okay for one reason he is on the DARK SIDE NOW and he was being put in his new suit and he also had to make a new lightsaber since obi wan took anakins lightsaber and anakin is now vader, seeing padme would be only a reminder of who he was and who he was with padme not who he is now.
