Why in the crap do they call them "Apple Jacks" if they don't taste like apples?

I had always seen those commercials and I had always eaten Apple Jacks but I never took in the real meaning of that "slogan" until tonight.
I was eating my cereal as I was watching the news and then it hit me, these dang Apple Jacks not taste like apples? They taste like cinnamon (which was confirmed to be in the cereal by the box) and taste nothing like Apple Jacks.

That's like me making a cereal that taste like "Honey" and calling them "Chicken-Wing Crunch". What is the deal?!?!?!

 

Because they taste like Jack.

You've obviously never tried Grape Nuts. They should just call it "Gravel". I swear I thought I split and chipped all my teeth with that first bite. Why is it called Grape Nuts anyway? I don't think there are any grapes or nuts in it... I don't know, all I know is that it's HARD.
