Hi guys now im no sure if this has been brought up before but....what happened to Qui-gon jinn's green Lightsaber? I thought that Obi-wan was keeping it and would give it to Anakin in revenge of the sith. I thought that it would be cool seeing Anakin wield Jinns old saber during the movie. Maybe its just me, but i was just hopeing thats all it would of been a great way to soldify Obi-wan friendship to Anakin in the movie. It would of shown that Anakin was fully his own Jedi Knight now, and had earned it. later on the Anakin would use the green saber to raid the jedi temple, and duel Obi-wan on Mustafar.Ask for the Blue lightsaber thing , Anakin could of just given his blue saber to padme . Who would in turn give it to Obi-wan before she died, and tell him "Anakin wanted Luke to have this".

That's exactly what building your own personalized lightsaber is for....to show that you've earned it.

He used it in Rogue Planet. Possibly lost it. No, Obi Wan would never live it down. No, he would, he wouldn't be attached to a lightsaber. He can't, he is a Jedi.

*Hey Drake* I really liked the Green lightsabers. I don't know why there was a large amount of Blue. I hated that. Does the color of the lightsaber matter because this has been confusing to me.

    Typically Sith have red.
Blue is the standard actually I think.
Green is probably reserved for Masters or Master swordsman. (Kit Fisto, Yoda, Qui-gon) Does anyone know the color of Dooku's pre-sith blade? My guess would be Green.
Purple seems to be rather rare.

anakin never seemed all that interested in qui-gon after episode 1. obi-wan, however, still thinks dearly of his old master.

Look at the Padwans training in AOTC. There are just as many green as blue sabers.

I don't know...all that "he gives this lightsaber and she gets that lightsaber, and he uses this lightsaber against that person" stuff kinda overcomplicates an otherwise simple thing, IMO.

It's a GREAT Idea-although I thought it would ACTUALLY be better if Anakin use Qui-gonn's lightsaber in AOTC, instead...I mean he's still a padawan at that time-it'd be more fitting. Imagine Obi-Wan saying "Next time, TRY not to lose it...This lightsaber was MY master's. It's special-the FIRST lightsaber used against a Sith in 1000 years!"

I think that'd be cool-and THEN, when Anakin gets it smashed in the factory, him saying "Obi-Wan's gonna kill me" will mean SO much more!!

I've always been a big fan of the theory that Obi-Wan kept Qui-Gon's lightsaber throughout the years and brought it with him to Tatooine. Luke found it when he went to Kenobi's hut to build his own lightsaber and used the green chrystal to supply his own saber. Just a theory, but think about it, Luke most likely doesn't know or cant get to the Jedi Chrystal temple, so where is he going to get a chrystal but from the saber thats lying around.

remeber he trained wiht Yoda for awhile. Yoda could of easily have told him details like that during the weeks they trained.

ive always thought that the green saber signified a student of the force, focused on learning and the blue saber meant one who is putting their teachings to good use but not continuing to learn - if that makes any sense. yoda and obi-wan exemplified the best of the two.

this is a decent site: http://www.answers.com/topic/lightsaber-1

this line was interesting from the site, "however, each Jedi (or Sith) is free to choose whatever hue for their blade they wish or can aquire."

    this is a decent site:

Interesting site, but pretty much wrong on this : the training lightsabers helped train apprentices in the use of a standard lightsaber. Training lightsabers are similar to a standard lightsaber. However, the power is greatly diminished and the size is reduced, the latter being similar to Yoda's lightsaber. Training sabers are usually pink in color.

Pink ?? The padawans Yoda was training had blue or green, not one pink in the bunch. :D

I think its cool how Knights of the Old Republic explained lightsaber colors. Blue was the color of the Jedi Guardian, who battles against the dark side of the force, green for Jedi Consulars who contemplate the force and use their powers to end struggles, and yellow for Jedi Sentinels who ferret out deceit and bring injustice into the light. You can apply this to the Jedi onscreen even. Green fits luke and yoda (luke especially in ROTJ and in the EU novels), and Blue for obiwan and anakin. they are guardians, their use of the lightsaber unparalleled. Guardians are sort of field agents, who engage the enemy in battle more often than not. This fits anakin. his use of the saber was chief with his force powers complimentary. Using this logic, it wouldnt have made sense for anakin to carry a green saber. Guardians are more aggressive, Consulars more reserved (like yoda). If you notice, Yoda never draws his saber until the battle is already begun, not before( AOTC battle with Dooku, all other options exhausted; the battle with the emperor, only after Sidious had already attacked with the force and tried to escape.) Again, obiwan and anakin, charging into battle with sabers drawn (AOTC with Dooku). Quigon was a maverick, but he used his saber well in a defensive manner, using the saber more as an exclamation rather than the point. luke began to show these qualities later in the saga. He presented himself to jabba and later to vader without his saber in use. Thoughts?

The Kotor meanings for sabers don't mean anything in the films.

Color has nothing to do with rank. We see members of the Council with blue lightsabers, and we see young Jedi with green lightsabers. The only thing color means is that Sith use the crimson and Jedi used the blue and green.

The idea is, aside from a green lightsaber looking better against a blue sky in ROTJ, the fact that Luke uses a green lightsaber is a sign of individuality. That he has finally broken away from his father's path and now is on his own to choose his destiny. Now, the green saber harkens back to Qui-Gon and Yoda while the blue looks back on Obi-Wan and Anakin, but is still a more distinct sign that Luke is not on his father's path of self-destruction.

Originaly, there was no greensaber colour. It was intended that red would be for Sith, and blue would be for Jedi. However, when ROTJ was being edited, Luke's blue saber clashed with the tatooine sky (the scenes on the sail barge), therefore the colour was changed to green so there was no clash. That's why the early trailers and posters for ROTJ have Luke holding a blue saber.

When i first read this post title, i thought you had meant the whole blue vs green vs red...

I don't remember if it was on this board or wherever but - the whole saga (with the exception of ep.III) Green always triumphs over Red, but blue will always lose to red.

Example- Ep.1 Obi-wan loses to maul with blue, but wins with green, yes Qui-gon died, but ultimately green won.

Ep.II. Obi-wan loses to Dooku, Anakin had an even battle when with green for a bit then lost with blue, then Yoda owns Dooku with green.

Ep.4- Obi-wan dies by Vaders red blade. Ep.5 - Luke comes off badly when he faces Vader...

    *takes a breath*

Ep.6 - Luke triumphs over Vader with green - funny thing is that the whole matter is finished without a lightsabre.

Ok - in Ep.3, i guess the whole world is turned upside down with Anakin and the Sith, etc etc, which does put the whole flow of the good of the force out, and the Jedi lose, and Yoda loses. I guess this is the only exception...

Color of the blade doesn't really matter. Plenty of Masters use blue, and plenty of Knights use green.

Also remember that plenty of Padawans used green in AOTC when Yoda was training them.

I think we should have seen more lightsaber colors in ROTS.

I use to love that video game that showed Plo Koon weilding a gold/tan lightsaber and that female jedi using a red one.
