Why Red/Green blasts?

If the Sith use red lightsabers,

and the Jedi use Blue/Green/Purple

than why do the Imperial Starcruisers shoot Green blasts and X-wings/Alderaan Conselor ships shoot Red blasts? I have always wondered that. Is there a reason, or just random colors?

Tie fighters have green
I bet there is some pseudo scientific reason having to do with frequency modulation or some other sci-fi gargon.

 

It is actualy to do with the vietnam war. the lasers are the color of the tracer rounds (glow in the dark bullets)

The Jedi use their colors because they have to find crystals for their saber. Those crystals only come in certain colors. However, the Sith use artificial crystals in the color of red.

In real sciense, it only depends on what is used for the laser. Ruby, argon, etc.

lol. well, if I'm not mistaken, then in the PT, the laser colors are opposite........ or are they the same? lol What I mean to say is that the good guys shoot green and the bad guys shoot red...... I think.

 

It's okay. In TPM Amidala and her troops shoot green bolts and the battle droids shoot red bolts while both droid and Naboo fighters shoot red. Oh ya, the clone trooper shoot blue/white bolts but the LAAT has a green composite laser while the Genosian fighters shoot blue/white bolts. In ROTS I believe both sides ships shoot blue/white lasers as well as red and green. Obi-Wan shoots Grevious with a red blast, Palpatines lightning is blue,,,

I don't think color really matters. It's just a way to visually show the good guys from the bad guys. Same as the saber; you people just way over analyze that.

well, see, teh thing is, you don't know that when TPM first came out. I always found it strange..... until AOTC, that is.

 

Clone Troop's rifles shoot Blue Lasers.

 

I think in the OT, we are supposed to think all the weapons are of imperial make. The rebels stuff is stolen/contraband or old Republican/Imperial surplus, remember, they are an illegal insurgency, they aren't likely manufacturing stuff, they are getting it on the black market.

because they could only composite in 3 colors back when they made the OT, and by the time ROTJ cam around, they ran out, so Luke's saber became TIE-fighter-green, like ferrari-red, only cooler

 

There are blue blasts, too.

They're ion lasers.

Maybe the colors have to do with what the laser is composed of, but is it THAT important?

 

I think it was mentioned in Rouge Squardon and the Databanks (at starwars.com) that blasters use special gasses to fire...maybe the gas used has someting to do with the color...
