He was a bad pilot, he just didn't like it. After the way Anakin flew the speeder the way he did on episode II, I can good understand why he hated flying.
I thought it was nice Obi didn't like flying. Not everyone is alike simply because they're Force-Sensitive.
yeah he only survived maul, jango, gg, the sith, the clone wars, the empire and taught the new hope to save the galaxy.
It was just a way to show that Jedi doesn't equal being good at absolutely everything (even if being the Chosen One seemingly does). And they failed because clearly Obi-Wan was still the second best fighterpilot in the battle above Corusant.
He was great at flying, actually. Him and Jango in the asteroid field around Geonosis? Impressive. Surviving the buzz droid attack? Impressive. There's a difference between not being fond of something and being bad at something.
Anakin likes being a pilot because that's who he is. Same with Luke. Leia does not like Han's flying skills when he takes them into the asteroid field. She only shows her appreciation for not getting them killed. Obi-wan says, "I don't mind flying but what you're doing is suicide!" He only states his actual objection when he's being shot at by Slave I. OBI-WAN: "This is why I hate flying."
