It's obvious to me why Quinlan wouldn't approach Qui-Gonn, and he must have realised that a fellow Jedi might approach him, so he knew to cover himself up. The better question is why Qui-Gonn didn't approach Quinlan? He must have hid himself really fast! Maybe he picked up a newspaper? Or pulled his hat in front of his face?

Don't any of you guys read the comics??? The whole story of Quinlan surviving Order 66 is told in Republic #s 81-83.

Now here's a thought. If you followed read Republic during the Clone Wars issues, you read about Quinlan searching for the second Sith Lord. He never learns the truth about Anakin being Vader or about the Emperor being Darth Sidious. Dooku repeatedly denied to Quinlan that he was a Sith Lord or that he answered to one. So after the Empire is proclaimed and Darth Vader appears as its new enforcer, wouldn't Quinlan naturally assume that Darth Vader was the second Sith Lord all along? Perhaps he would further assume that, after the death of Count Dooku, Darth Vader, as the last of the Sith, made a deal with Chancellor Palpatine for him to keep him in power if he could be his No. 2, do away with the Jedi, and have him as his new, and more reliable, source for holding on to power, especially since the Jedi wanted at least to curb Palpatine's power, if not remove him from office. We already saw one great storyline of mistaken identity with Vos hunting down the wrong person. It would be great to see another one. I hope that he fights Vader, beats him, and Vader has to cheat to drive him away by calling in stormtroopers. One thing is for sure: Vader should NOT win every fight or beat every Jedi.

He was there to establish his character.

Lucas didn't place him there to establish a character, he was just a guy who fanboys turned into a Jedi, presumably because he had a yellow stripe on his face, and I guess that was just awesome (even though several other people in Mos Espa had yellow face paint). Or maybe it was just the rockin' hair. It's kinda like Aurra Sing, who fanboys wanted to see in more ****-material, I'm assuming because she had a nice can. Suddenly she's out killing Jedi and collecting lightsabers, being all extreme to the max, like Poochie or something.

The majority of the humans in the stands during the Boonta Eve race seem to have the same face paint. I can understand taking the design and turning it into a Jedi, but to then to make a TPM extra Vos when everyone and there mom looks exactly the same and seems to be some Tatooinian cultural thing was a poor move.

The paint is explained in his bio. Vos is a Kiffer and it is part of their heritage. Those that we see might've been Kiffers as well.

It's a bit like The Silver Surfer really. Stan Lee didn't ask for him in his first appearence, Kirby just drew him in. Lee liked the look of him, and made more of him. 40 years later, still getting used.

Of course, the funny thing is that his Padawan in the comics Aayla Secura got into the movies when Lucas saw a picture of her and liked her look.
