I wouldn't count out Boba Fett making a return at some point. Then again we do have rumors of Mandalorians in the movie, so that could indeed count him out. If they stick with him being dead, that is.

I don't expect Solo to come out the film alive, so it might be a nice gesture if the two enemies kill each other in the end.

Maybe a descendent that's actually worthwhile to the plot?

When Kasdan was supposidly writing the Boba Fett spinoff, it was rumored that he spoke of not liking what Jorge did with him in the prequels. Maybe he was going to make the attempt to put someone new in the Armor.

Clones had the growth accelerator. Boba did not. Is it possible Boba had a growth / age inhibitor?

Or we'll just keep up the psychotic diametric and have Mandalorians as Maori Warriors in the film, but as Nordic in the animated series...

    This is an interesting idea...

But IMO that idea opens a whole can of worms...Now we're entering into the realm of "is there a possibility of an age-defying, 'fountain of youth' type of process someone could have imbedded into their DNA??"

There would be families wanting to do that to give their children extra long lives, rich people who want to find some way to instill it after obtaining adulthood in order to prolong their lives, wars over the control of those facilities could break out, so on and so forth.....

A whole trilogy could be made around that one idea of "growth inhibitors." Imagine the possibilities!! A "Genetic fountain of youth" in the GFFA!

For that reason, at least in SW, I don't see that happening...

    Intriguing idea though!! ;)

"Growth acceleration" only accelerates growth and maturation, aging and degeneration is a biologically separate process. The clones don't have to have shorter lifespans unless the scriptwriters are as ill-informed as everyone else seems to be. Or the kaminoans do it by selectively speeding up time.

It may be that it's the same "switch" that causes rapid growth, causes rapid aging as well.

"The candle that burns twice as fast burns half as long" and all that sort of thing.

Star Wars EP VII is a sequel and unfortunately too many fans are hoping for a class reunion of past characters.

Yeah I agree. The approach I had with the idea was that other species in the GFFA have longer lifespans than humans. Kaminoans clone more than just humans. Maybe there was an elixir out there - beyond the Ryshi Maze...

How long do humans in the GFFA even live to be?

Depends who's writing - but tie-in materials established that at least one of the humans in the PT was about 300 years old.

Morrison can be in the Boba outfit but please bring back the old Fett voice. Much better than that lame New Zealand accent.

    I really like this idea.

When the Kaminoans turned off (or thought they turned off) the acceleration gene, they actually modified it so he ages slower. Temuera Morrison is 54 years old now, just a bit younger than Luke and Leia and almost 20 years younger than Han.

For those wanting a Han death, I always thought a cowboy style mono e mono gunsling with Fett was the best way he could go out. Better than being blown up in the vacuum of space (taking Chewie and the Falcon with him).

I feel like we can pretty much guarantee that clones/clone troopers won't be seen in the movie. I haven't seen a single bit of PT marketing in any Disney stuff. Even the "trailer" for BF3 they showed at E3 didn't have any PT battles. (Hopefully they're not dropping them completely).

I wouldn't be surprised if they brought Boba Fett back. What would annoy me is if they didn't use Termuera Morrison, though. I don't think the new movies would every contradict something big like "What was Luke's mother's name?" or something, but it wouldn't surprise me if they cast the original Boba Fett voice rather than Morrison in order to appeal to nostalgia and/or honor the original versions of the films. It's a shame though, because I think Morrison's voice is more distinctive and interesting.

Max von Sydow is going to play Boba Fett... with a cybernetic leg and eye from his time in the Sarlacc, and an evil plot to finally get his revenge on Han Solo.

    Or not.

They are of course marketing the Rebels era and will soon market the EP7 era. The good news is this is all canon now, so the clone era will exist.

As far Termuera Morrison goes, "he is Fett" (per the Story Group and canon rules). Fett was an unaltered clone, so if Fett is back, then some form of the clones is back. There was the wild rumor that the Fett from ESB is not a Termuera Morrison clone, but some mysterious guy that killed the real Fett and has been masquerading around as his identity. I personally hate that storyline.

I always wondered why people didn't like the Boba Fett storyline from the PT. It didn't seem to diminish the character in any way, at least to me. Is it because he was a clone of Jango Fett? Or was it because he was shown as a child? I just remember a lot of the pre-PT stuff always describing him as kind of a run-of-the-mill bounty hunter type guy, which wasn't very interesting to me personally.

I fully expect the story group to be on board with Clone Boba, but I just wonder if Abrams would actually cast Morrison. I doubt the story group has the authority to tell JJ who he can cast. It's similar to the "what if Anakin's force ghost is seen?" question. If he did show up, I'd want him to be Christensen (I'm not a fan of Christensen but that's what ROTJ shows so that's canon), but I feel like it would be much better in terms of overall fan reception to get an old man similar to Sebastian Shaw. It's that question of canon vs. what a lot of the fans want. I'm personally a fan of the PT, but I'm in the minority there so I don't know.

First, an awesome pic of Morrison:

Well this is just my take, but some people liked the "mystery" behind Boba. Basically it was a guy in cool armor that didn't say much that captured Han Solo. So the mystery to them is cooler than the actual back story. Much like Vader: a mysterious cool guy in a scary mechanical suit that keeps him a live is better than seeing him as a little kid saying "now this is pod racing!" Or seeing him as a teen heart throb falling in love with Padme. That's not me, I like the back story of Fett and Anakin, it's just a lot of people say "I would have done it different" or "It's better not knowing their back story".

As far as the Story Group and Canon, Clone Boba, son of Jango Fett, is really Boba Fett. That will not change. HOWEVER writers and directors can get "creative" and change the story but it still technically doesn't change the canon. The example I gave is a rumor said about Lawrence Kasdan. The rumor goes:

Kasdan did not like the clone Boba backstory at all. He felt Fett should just be a mysterious man who is a super deadly, efficient bounty hunter. So to circumvent the Story Group canon, he came up with this story: Clone Boba (Jangos son) is just as he is in AOTC and the Clone Wars (because it's canon). However somewhere between TCW and ANH, Clone Boba (Jangos son) is killed by some unknown mysterious man, and that unknown mysterious man takes his armor and assumes his identity. This is the BOBA FETT you see in the OT (the fake Boba, the mysterious man). So see, the canon is not ruined at all. The only point of contention is the SE version of ESB has Morrison voicing Boba. So this mysterious man who killed the real Boba, happens to have the same voice as Boba? Or possibly it's another clone? However all clones had age acceleration so they would be really old or near death. If you throw out the SE voice thing, then it makes total sense why Boba doesn't sound like Morrison, because he's not him. He's a guy that killed him and assumed his identity.

Of course the Story Group can't tell the director who to cast. JJ could have RE-CAST the original 3, but JJ had enough sense to know that bringing the original 3 back would be a great selling point for EP7. If they bring Boba back for EP7-9, I feel it should be Morrison. If they do a spinoff, then I think it should be Daniel Logan:

My feelings on the matter are simple. Leave him out of the ST but give him a spin off where he gets out of the Sarlacc, hunts down Han, and then dies in the epic fight a lot of us fans have always wanted to see. I'm also cool with leaving him dead.

Boba Fett and clones need to stay away from the ST. But I'm all for a Fett spin off. BTW, if the Fett spin-off is to take place during the OT...I would strongly be apposed to him taking off his helmet to reveal Temeura Morrison. The guy's almost 55, when the character would need to be in his 30's. See a current pic of Morrison below. Have Morrison do the voice, sure. But I think the spin off should stick to the "faceless" killer storyline that was being thrown about...that way you can put a younger more athletic guy in the suit while not excluding Morrison.

Yep. The only way Temuera should appear again as Fett is if Boba is for some reason used in the ST (something which would be okay with me). That's the story setting which matches best with Morrison's current age.

But if you're going to set a Boba Fett spin-off either during the OT or immediately following ROTJ/the Sarlacc (my personal preference), then the filmmakers are almost going to have to cast a far younger actor with a Maori look about him.

Who that might be? I've no idea. For a long time, I would have said Danial Logan. But then it was pointed out to me that he has done no camera work since AOTC.

    ...

Although, a quick check of his IMDb page says Logan has re-appeared, just this year, as a character called "Ensign Tongaroa" in an episode of something called Star Trek Continues, and will be seen as "Joe" in The Griddle House (which is still in post).

Has anyone seen this Star Trek production, and can offer an opinion on Logan's work in it?

I really hope we don't see Boba Fett. I doubt we'll see the clone troopers, but the Stormtroopers are likely.
